Brandon
I get up early the next morning and head downtown to the factory, going into the office. I walk over to the file cabinet and grab the paperwork that all the workers filled out, to have a look over their information to make sure they are qualified to be working here. I've spent a lot of time and money to make this place a legitimate business and I don't need anything ruining what I've built here.
Hearing a knock on the door, I look over watching as the human male Kel that I've placed as manager walk into the office.
"Do you need anything, sir." He asks.
"No, I'm fine," I tell him as I close the file cabinet, watching as he gives me a nod leaving.
I walk over and take a seat at the desk and start to look over the paperwork that they all filled out. I look up from the papers, looking over through the open blinds watching as the workers start to arrive, making their way through the lobby area clocking in before heading to their work station.
It has taken nearly three years to get this place up and running and now I'll have a constant source of money to provide for my family.
As I continue to look over the worker's paperwork and putting their file information into the computer, I hear another knock on the door.
"Come in," I say knowing its Kel again.
"There's a guy looking to apply for a job here." He tells me.
"Send him in." I stand up from the desk and go over to the file cabinet and grab the form that this guy will need to fill out.
A deep frown creeps onto my face when I look over watching as a beta male walks into the office. He looks at me, not looking surprised about the marks covering my face. I'm sure word has spread to any nearby packs and wolves that I'm here.
I let my power fill the room, letting him know that if he's here for trouble this won't end well for him. "What do you want?" I don't want any trouble, but if any wolves think that they'll come here and run me off I hope they are prepared to die. I've put everything I have into starting a life here for my family and me, and no one is going to run us off.
"I'm here for a job." He tells me.
I look at him not trusting anything he's saying. I look him over, taking in his appearance. He's a bit rough looking with his uncut hair that's a bit tangled and his clothes look a bit worn. He's still a bit thin not holding much muscle to himself, letting me know that he's a young beta male who is at the beginning stage of transitioning from a juvenile into his manhood.
Feeling the power pouring from me, he lifts his hands up and slightly turns his head exposing his neck to me, showing me he's no threat.
"Those marks are your business, I'm not here to cause you trouble. I'm just looking to make some money." I watch him closely, listening to his heartbeat trying to see if he's lying and has come here for another reason, but his heartbeat is steady and he keeps a straight face showing that his words are true.
"Do your alpha know you're here?" I don't need him bringing problems here by going behind his alpha back to make a quick buck.
"I have no alpha." He slightly frowns as he puts his hands back down, letting me know that he's a rogue. By the frown on his face, it's clear that he doesn't like the thought of having to answer to an alpha. That's the nature of a rogue, wanting to do as they please without having to answer to anyone.
I look at him for a moment longer, deciding that he's not a threat. "Fill out these papers." I hold out the form and watch as he takes them and leaves out the office.
I watch him through the open blinds as he takes a seat in the lobby area and starts to fill out the paperwork. A part of me says that I shouldn't take a chance on trusting him, but he doesn't seem to be looking to cause trouble for me.
I walk over and take my seat back at the desk and continue with looking over the paperwork and putting the information into the computer files.
After about twenty minutes I hear a knock on the door knowing its the young beta male.
"Come in," I say watching him walk into the office, bringing his paperwork over to me.
I take the papers from him and look at him for a second as he stands there in front of the desk. I look down at the papers in my hand seeing that his name is Mykel. I continue to look over his information seeing he has experience with cleaning and cutting meat. He's a wolf so that's not surprising. I stop read and when I come to his age.
"You're seventeen." I look over at him standing there.
"Yeah." He tells me.
"Wolf or not, I'm running a legitimate business here and you're underage. I can't have you working the tool and machines." Having underage teens working with dangerous tools and machines could put my business under investigation or easily get this place shut down and I can't risk losing the only thing I have to provide for my family.
"Is there anything else I can do here until I'm old enough to work in your legitimate business?" He asks.
A low growl vibrant my chest picking up on his sarcasm as if he thinks me running a legitimate business is bullshit. It has taken me nearly three years to legally get this place up and running and I'll be damn if a young beta rogue disrespect what I've built!
"I was only joking." He put his hands up, showing that he meant no disrespect with his sarcasm.
I look at him for a moment and take in a calming breath pushing my wolf back. I lean back in the chair, seeing that he's looking to work. "The only job available for you is cleaning and emptying trash," I tell him.
He gives me a nod. "When can I start?"
"You can start today, Follow me." I stand up from the chair leading him out of the office.
I take him around the building and down to the work area showing him what he'll be responsible for keeping clean. Other than Misty, this young male is the first wolf that I've talked to in the last three years.
As I explain things to him, His looks at the marks that are covering my face don't go unnoticed by me, but he doesn't seem to care much about me being marked as a dishonorable male.
I make the last stop at the bathrooms, pushing open the door and watch as a frown creeps onto his face.
"I'm not cleaning shitty toilets." He says looking into the bathroom.
"This is the job that's available for you. If you can't handle it, then you're welcome to leave." I tell him.
I watch him as he stands at the bathroom door next to me, looking into the bathroom trying to decide what he's going to do. I watch as he let out a sigh, putting whatever pride he has to the side. He let out a low chuckle slightly shaking his head. "I never thought I'll be agreeing to clean up behind a bunch of filthy humans." He looks over at me with a smirk, accepting the job.
The smirk leaves his face and is replaced by a frown. "If any shit gets on me, I kill the human that the shit belongs to." He says causing me to frown.
He let out a chuckle putting his hands up. "I'm joking...again." He says looking backing into the bathroom and let out another sigh. "I guess I'll get to work. I can't be slacking around when you're trying to run a legitimate business here." He says sarcastically, letting out another low chuckle with a smirk.
I don't react to his sarcasm like before as I've now picked up on the type of male he is. He doesn't seem to mean any disrespect by the things he says. He's just a young male who likes to joke around.
I give him a nod before walking away, leaving him to get to work. I head back to the office to finish looking over the paperwork so I can head back to the house. I promise Misty that I'll at least have a look at the daycare.

Brandon As the next five days pass, I'm unable to do anything, unable to eat, sleep, nothing. All I can do is hurt as I sit here on the floor in the dark, blaming myself. I thought I was doing the right thing by staying and not running, but maybe if I would've listened and left then maybe she would still be alive.I take in a shaky breath as I reach up and wipe away the endless tears that won't seem to stop falling from my eyes, knowing all the things I've done have finally caught up to me and now I'm paying for it. I just feel empty inside without Misty.I squeeze my eyes shut as they burn with tears. I sit here as old memories play out in my head. I think about the first time I saw her in that restaurant. It all seems like it was just yesterday and now she's gone. I always knew that I was no good for her. I always knew I could never give her the life she deserved because of my past, but I tried, I tried to be a good male, a good mate, but all I've done is gotten her killed.I look
