NEXT MORNING… Amber awoke with a smile on her face. This was the first time she actually woke up with a genuine smile since the previous months. She had had trouble having a peaceful sleep after Axel left. She may or may not have fantasized about him doing terrible but pleasurable things to her which always ended up with her touching herself in the process. She was shameless, she knew it, but she felt she shouldn’t be blamed for lusting after her brother’s best friend. I mean look at him… he was drop dead gorgeous; too hot to even breathe the same air as her. She could still recall the day he spent the night at their house, and she had to wake up and find him making some pancakes in the kitchen. He was shirtless and his hair was messy, and it only made him hotter than he already was. She had watched how his muscles flexed as he lifted the frying pan and flipped the pancakes. She blessed her self control because it took all she had not to run into his arms and trail her hand on his flawless skin. That was the day she knew she wanted him and she had never stopped wanting him despite the obstacles between them. She sat up and stretched out her hands, yawning slightly. Her gaze drifted to the clock on the bed stand and her eyes widened. It was 7am. “Shit! I’m late!” she exclaimed, jumping down from the bed. She had to see her advisor by 7:30 and also sort out her courses but here she was… already running late on her first day. She was about to take off her pajamas when her room door swung open. “What the hell, Cole? You’re a dickhead. You can’t even knock!” she snapped, taking the pajama off, leaving her in her lace bra. She expected him to lash back at her with an insult worse than hers, but he said nothing which got her wondering. Cole was never this quiet. “Cole—” her voice caught in her throat when she turned to see that it wasn’t Cole but Axel. Axel stood in the doorway, his eyes scanning her from head to toe, taking in her lacy bra and sleep shorts. Amber's cheeks flushed as she hastily grabbed a nearby shirt to cover herself. She could swear something flashed in his eyes, but what was it? “I…I thought you were Cole,” she stuttered, trying to compose herself. Axel's eyes widened, and he quickly looked away, clearing his throat. “Yeah, no. It's me. Cole left early. I, uh, thought you were ready to leave.” Amber's face grew hotter. “I overslept,” she muttered, trying to tug the shirt down to cover more of her legs. Axel shifted uncomfortably, still avoiding eye contact. “You're always running late, aren't you?” he asked, his tone laced with amusement. Amber felt a defensive sting. “Hey, it's not my fault! I just lost track of time.” Axel raised an eyebrow, finally meeting her gaze. “Lost track of time? You're always like this. Sleeping in late, showing up at the last minute…” Amber's eyes widened. “That’s not true,” she lowered her head, her cheeks burning with embarrassment. Axel took a deep breath and smiled at her. “You've got ten minutes to get ready. Meet me outside, and I'll drive you to school.” Amber stuttered, still feeling embarrassed. “That’s… that’s barely enough time.” Ten minutes? That wasn’t enough. Not when she wanted to doll herself up and make him notice her. Axel’s eyes narrowed and he folded his arms. “Then you’d better have a good excuse to give to your advisor, cat eyes.” he reminded her, and she bit her lower lip. “Fine. I’ll be ready.” He nodded and left, leaving Amber feeling flustered and frustrated. She quickly finished getting ready, her mind reeling with thoughts of Axel's unexpected visit to her room and the look on his face when he saw her half naked. She knew Axel. He would never flush seeing a lady half naked or even bare before him. That’s just the kind of person he was, but why did he look that way with her? She wondered if it was because she was Cole’s sister and typically off bounds, or there was something else. She shook her head. “I shouldn’t be thinking about this,” she whispered with a sigh. “I shouldn’t get my hopes up quickly.” As she rushed outside, Axel was leaning against his car, sipping a coffee. He raised an eyebrow at her hurried appearance. “Ready now?” he asked, smiling. Amber nodded, taking the coffee from him and downing it in one go. Axel watched her, amusement lining his features. Amber had always been a brave and interesting kid… he hoped she wouldn’t get into trouble sooner than he had hoped. She slid into the passenger seat, trying to avoid eye contact. The drive to campus was quiet, with Axel focused on the road and Amber lost in thought. When they arrived, Axel turned off the engine and turned to her. “Thanks for the ride,” Amber said, reaching for the door handle. Axel caught her arm. “Hey, Cat eyes?” She looked back at him, her gaze questioning and her heart thinking wildly in her chest as the effect of his grip on her hand. “Be careful today, okay?” he said, his eyes serious. “This isn’t high school. This is College. Life here is a little different from what you had back home. Don’t hesitate to let me know if you need anything, okay?” he said and she nodded slowly. “Oh, you can call me to show you around after your meeting with your advisor. I’m all yours for today.” he winked at her. Amber's heart skipped a beat. She wondered why he meant by he was all hers? She bit her lip and smiled. “I will,” she replied softly. Axel released her arm, and Amber stepped out of the car. As she walked away, she felt Axel's gaze on her, sending shivers down her spine, but she didn’t dare to look back. She met with her advisor and discussed her course schedule, and academic goals, trying to focus on the conversation. But her mind kept drifting back to Axel's words: “I'm all yours for today.” What did he mean by that? She wondered if he was trying to lead her on somehow. After the meeting, Amber walked out of the halls with the school’s map in her hand and some links too. Her classes were starting at noon, and she couldn’t help but wonder how it was going to be. She pulled out her phone and dialed Axel's number. He offered to be her chaperon after all. “Hey, Cat eyes,” he answered on the first ring. Amber smiled at the nickname. She always felt a flutter in her chest whenever he called her that name. Growing up, she had hated her cat-like eyes, but that was the first thing Axel noticed the day they met for the first time, and he made her love it. “Hey. I'm done with my meeting.” she beamed. “I'll be there in five,” Axel said, and hung up. Amber's heart raced with excitement and anticipation as she waited for Axel. She kept checking her wristwatch, her eyes darting everywhere as she waited impatiently. When Axel arrived, he was grinning. “Ready for the tour?” Amber nodded, feeling a flutter in her chest. As they walked across campus, Axel pointed out various buildings and landmarks. Amber listened intently, laughing at his jokes and anecdotes. They stopped at the student union, where Axel spotted Trevor, his course mate and friend. “Hey, Trev!” Axel called out. Trevor turned, a friendly smile on his face. “Axel! What's up, man?” Axel introduced Amber, and Trevor's eyes widened. “The famous little sister, huh?” Amber rolled her eyes good-naturedly. “Hey, watch it. I’m not that little.” Then she raised an eyebrow. What did he mean by “famous little sister” anyway? Trevor chuckled. His eyes darted to the books in her hand. “So, Mass Communication, huh? You're in for a wild ride.” Axel nodded. “I told her about Professor Jenna’s Broadcasting class.” Trevor grinned. “That's a great one. You'll love it,” Amber only smiled. As they chatted, Trevor leaned in, lowering his voice. “You know, Amber, Axel here has quite a reputation on campus.” Amber's curiosity piqued. “What kind of reputation?” Trevor glanced at Axel, who shook his head in warning. “Let's just say he's got a certain… charm.” Axel cleared his throat. “Trevor, don't scare her off.” Trevor chuckled. “I'm just keeping it real, Axel. You know I've got your back.” Amber's eyes met Axel's, wondering what Trevor meant. She knew Axel was quite the charmer, and girls do want to get noticed by him, her included. He was a playboy, but one thing she knew was that he wasn’t one to fuck around like an animal, so what was Trevor talking about? But it’s been two years since she last saw him. Has he changed? Even if he has, he was all she wanted. He’s all she could see. “Come on, let’s go eat breakfast before lectures start,” he held her hand, causing the hair on her skin to stand. Why was every touch electrifying? She took in her bottom lip, as she imagined her hands pinned above her head while he whispered dirty words into her ears and fuck her hard. She shut her eyes tight. She had a wild imagination and it was all because of how close they were. ‘What have you turned me into, Axel?’ she screamed internally. “I’ll see you guys later then.” Trevor waved at them and walked away. Amber stared at their entwined hands as Axel led her to the cafeteria. She watched how the students stared, and though she wasn’t one who loved attention, she seemed to be happy with this one. It was fucking Axel, for goodness’ sake. Who wouldn’t be? As they sat, eating, Amber couldn’t help stealing glances at Axel. She almost got caught on numerous occasions, but she already knew how to maneuver her way out. She hadn’t secretly watched and taken photos of him for years, all for nothing. She was about to say something when a pretty redhead lady walked up to them and to Amber’s surprise, she leaned in and kissed Axel on his lips. His fucking lips that she had dreamed of tasting for like… forever. Her mouth hung open, her chest heating up. Her grip tightened around her fork and she fought back the urge to throw the fork into the ladies neck and watch her neck bleed for touching Axel. The girl pulled away and looked at her with a smile. “You must be Amber,” she began, her smile all too friendly for Amber’s liking. “Axel told me you were coming. It’s nice to finally meet you in person. I am Candice, his girlfriend.” she introduced herself and Amber felt like she had been punched in the gut. What? Girlfriend? Axel had a girlfriend?004. Amber's eyes widened, her grip on the fork tightening the more. “Girlfriend?” she repeated, trying to keep her tone neutral. Candice nodded, smiling. “Yeah, we've been together for a few months now.” Amber's gaze shifted to Axel, who looked uncomfortable. “You didn't mention you had a girlfriend,” she said, trying to keep the accusation out of her voice. Axel shrugged. “It didn't come up.” Amber felt a pang of disappointment. Why hadn't he told her? Did he think she wouldn't care? She glared at him, her heart aching. Candice leaned in, oblivious to the tension. “So, Amber, what do you think of the campus so far?” Amber forced a smile, trying to play it cool. “It's great. Thanks for asking.” Candice nodded with a smile. “Since you’re Axel’s little sister, I’ll give you special treatment,” ‘If that special treatment involves you leaving Axel’s life forever, I’m game.’ Amber muttered in her thoughts as Candice kept going on and on about how she would take care of
005.“Spill the tea, girlie. How on earth do you know Axel King? He even shoved you into his car!” Melissa exclaimed, causing Amber to laugh.“He didn’t really shove me into the car, Mel.” Amber massaged her forehead. Melissa had video called her the minute she got home and wouldn’t stop asking about Axel. She couldn’t help wondering how Amber knew who Axel was when she was just a freshman.Melissa rolled her eyes. “Oh please!” she waved it off. “He literally swept you off your feet.” she giggled.Amber chuckled softly. “Well, he is my brother’s best friend, so he is technically my friend too. We’ve known each other since we were kids.”Melissa gasped. “Girl, you’re lucky. Axel King is the most popular guy on campus. Don’t ask me how I know, I’m an all rounder-perks of being a mass communication student, am I right?”“It’s gossip.” Amber laughed.The door to her room opened and Cole walked in. He threw the towel he was holding on Amber’s face and she huffed.“Let’s talk later, Melissa
006.Next day…Amber, Melissa, and Jack were having lunch in the cafeteria and Melissa didn’t waste time before telling Jack about Axel. Jack gasped. “I might just be a freshman but the name “Axel King” is gold on campus. Everybody knows him and girls? Fuck, they are always all over him, especially when he plays basketball.”Melissa giggled. “Not only is he hot and drop dead gorgeous, he is also good at sports and have led this college to numerous victories in his two years of being here,”Amber smiled. “Axel has always been my golden guy. He is awesome.” Melissa narrowed her eyes at her. “Girl, you’re swooning.” she chuckled.Amber sighed.Just then, Axel walked into the cafeteria, and just like they had said, all eyes were on him in an instant, including hers. There was something about him… about his presence, his aura, that seemed to command the room. Melissa watched Amber with a smile on her face. No one needed to explain what was going on to her right now. One thing she knew;
007.Axel stood in the spacious office, his face indifferent and his patience wearing thin. He hated being here, and he especially hated the feeling of nostalgia that came with coming to this place.He walked over to the window, overlooking the whole city, and he sighed, tucking his hands into his pocket as his handsome face contorted to a frown. His father’s office had always been the most uncomfortable place for him to be in, and now he had been here for fifteen minutes, waiting for his so-called father who had called him here but went ahead to do business… as usual.Just as he was about to give up and turned to walk out, the door opened, and his father walked in, his expression stern. “I’m actually surprised you waited.” he took a seat and gestured for Axel to sit as well.“Why did you call me here?” Axel asked as soon as his butt landed on the chair.Mr. Kevin King cleared his throat and folded his hands on the desk as he looked at his son. “It’s about you and Candice,” he answer
008.“Turn around!” Amber screamed and Axel’s body moved of its own accord as he quickly turned, his heart beating fast.Amber shut her eyes tight in embarrassment as she rushed to carry her towel and back into the bathroom to calm herself down before coming out. She had no idea Axel would be back early. “Fuck!” she covered her face with her palms. She could literally feel her cheeks burning with embarrassment. How the heck was she going to face him now. What was she going to say? It was going to be so awkward talking to him after this.She groaned, feeling like the ground should open and swallow her whole. She paced around the bathroom as she thought of what to do. She slowly opened the door and peeked through it. He was still standing with his back turned. She guessed he might be scared to turn and see her again. Her eyes scanned her room before it landed on the tampons and chocolates he had bought. She looked away, stretched out her hand to her shorts on the bed and grabbed them
009.Damn her dirty mind! What in heaven's name was she thinking? She screamed into her pillow, her face heating from the first-hand embarrassment.After she uttered that insane sentence, it became awkward a little bit as Axel didn’t know the response to give her. She had to pretend it was just a harmless joke, blaming him for flirting with her, then quickly finished her food and rushed into her room.“Gosh!” she facepalmed, shaking her head. It was becoming more and more difficult to control herself around him. She might actually snap one day if he doesn’t see the green lights she’s been giving him.Axel was every lady’s guy. He knew how to have his way with girls, and he certainly knew how to keep them coming back for more. He also knew when a lady was into him, so why hadn’t he noticed that she had a thing for him?Was he mistaking her stares and flirting for admiration, or he probably thought she was joking? She tried to get the questions out of her head, but she couldn’t.During
010.Two days later…“Are you sure you want to go through with this, Amy? You still have a chance to change your mind.” Melissa said as she added the finishing touches to Amber’s hair.Amber smiled, her expression determined. “You’ve been asking me this for two days now, and I already told you I want to do it.”Melissa sighed. She understood her best friend’s plight, but she wouldn’t want Axel falling in love with her based on a mere seduction. Deep down, she knew Axel had a thing for Amber; I mean it’s damn obvious from the way he looked at her, and the way his expression softened whenever he listened to her.She wished Amber would let him make a move instead of pushing it down on him. She had been trying to convince Amber since that day at the cafeteria, but the lady was quite stubborn.“What about Cole?” she asked, reaching into Amber’s wardrobe and pulling out the signature red gown they had bought specifically for tonight.Amber smiled. “Let me worry about that. I’m finally eigh
011. After the party died down a bit and people began leaving, Axel took Amber to the rooftop of the house, decorated with twinkling fairy lights and a breathtaking view of the city skyline. Amber’s eyes widened. She felt like she had just walked into a fairy tale. “Wow, Axel, this is so beautiful,” Amber breathed, her eyes glinting with excitement. This had to be the best birthday ever. “I wanted to make tonight special for you,” Axel said, his voice low and husky, as he led her to the edge of the rooftop. The city lights stretched out before them, a dazzling canvas of color and light. Amber felt Axel’s hand brush against hers, sending shivers down her spine. “Thank you, Axel,” she whispered, her heart pounding as she turned to face him. Axel turned to face her, his eyes burning with intensity. When their gazes locked, he smiled and looked away while Amber looked around excitedly. “I guess this is one way to end the evening, don’t you think?” she beamed at him and quickly turne
049. Next Morning... It was a Saturday morning and Amber's rest day. Axel had begged her to stay, but not trusting herself and the foolish things her heart has been doing lately, she refused. The previous night, Axel had been a gentleman. He didn't flirt with her, and his food was absolutely amazing. She knew he was a good cook, but he'd improved and was the best at it. At first she had been nervous falling asleep, but then that was the most relaxing and peaceful sleep she'd ever had. Not to mention how she'd sneak into his room to check up on him and know if he usually got nightmares, which she was correct. She ended up spending the night in his room. They arrived at Amber's apartment and Amber was shocked to see Jack standing in her porch. "Thanks for the ride, Mr. A. Happy weekend" she got down from the car and walked to him. Jack rushed to her. 048.Amber said nothing and just allowed him to stay in her arms. Axel had his eyes closed while she just stared at him; his flawless face, eyelashes, hair and everything seemed to mesmerize her at this point. It's been a while since she got a closer look at him like this. Most times, he was flirting with her and she couldn't concentrate on his looks, but this time, he was right here in her arms, looking even more dashing than she gave him credit for. The boy she had loved during her teenage years was now a man; a successful man. Unfortunately, he has PTSD, and it makes her so worried about him. "What exactly did you go through, Axel?" she whispered, more to herself than him, but Axel heard her. He wasn't asleep. Infact, he felt the way her heart was beating wildly in her chest and his she'd try fighting to keep it at bay.But was he ready to tell her everything now? Was he ready for her reaction? Telling her meant he'd finally have the courage to face this anxiety, and it might als
047."How's that possible?" Amber whispered, her heart pounding in her chest. "How did he get PTSD?" she turned to face Maverick. "What caused it? Something must have given him anxiety and depression. What's that?" Amber asked, forcing back the tears that threatened to spill from her eyes.Why was she feeling sorry for him? She couldn’t understand.Maverick sighed. "I don't think it's in my place to tell you, Ms. Amber," he replied, not daring to look into her eyes incase he'd be tempted to blurt it all out. "He is the one that can tell you everything.""Tell me everything? Just talk to me. I want to know why he's like this," she demanded but Maverick didn't say anything. Amber sighed. "Okay, fine. How long has he had it?" Maverick bit his lower lip. "He's had it for five years now. The PTSD is a recent thing. And... And he's been going for therapy, so-""Five years?" Amber arched an eyebrow. "Five years? Again?" she took a deep breath and walked back to her table then took a seat. M
046.Maverick rushed out of the office while Axel walked to where Amber stood. "You're going on a business trip?" he asked, tucking his hands into his pockets.Amber nodded. "Yes, sir," she answered and he arched an eyebrow. "It's a conference in Los Angeles for Mainland Tech. It's just for three days and I wanted to talk to you about it. My magazine chose me to represent them."Axel nodded with a smile. "Impressive," he walked to his desk and took a seat. "It's your work. Why do you need my permission?"Amber sighed, sitting down as well. "I'm just being formal and polite. After all, I work for you too. And it wouldn't be respectful of me if I just go without telling you anything. Besides, it's going to eat into my work time here. So, I wanted to let you know." she explained, taking a close look at him.Axel nodded and crossed his legs. "Sure. That's cool. You can go."Amber smiled. "Thank you, Mr. A," she typed something into her keyboard. "Also, I'm done typing out the interview I
045.KING'S MANSION "Are you making any progress?" Kevin asked Axel, who was seated opposite him with his back leaned on the couch.Axel sat up with a sigh as he bent and steepled his fingers. "I think so, but I think I need a little push," he said, his tone laced with frustration. "It's been a week working with her, Dad. And aside the fact that she doesn't look at me coldly anymore, there isn't really much I can attest to and claim that I've won her trust. I catch her staring from time to time, but sometimes I see confusion in those cat eyes of hers; sometimes inquisitiveness like she's studying me or something.""I understand your plight, son," Kevin said and stood to his feet. He walked to his son shelf, took a bottle of one of his expensive wines and two glass cups. "Amber is a sweet girl. I feel like she's just curious to know if you'd hurt her again or you really meant it when you said you've changed and want her back," he poured the wine into the glasses and gave Axel one.Axe
044.Amber felt uncomfortable as they walked into the elevator together. The door to the elevator closed and Amber's heart began pounding. Fuck, she was in the same elevator with Axel. Axel! Alone.Axel turned to look at her and noticed how she fiddled with her fingers. He smiled, tempted to pick on her but he had to control himself. Why was she so nervous? They were only going to his private cafeteria to have lunch."So," Axel began, his voice smooth and controlled. "I've noticed you seem a bit uneasy." He cocked his head to one side, a playful smirk on his face. "Not used to being alone with the boss, huh?"Amber bit her lip, embarrassment flooding through her. "I'm fine," she replied, her voice higher than she intended. "Just not used to...you know, private lunches. With the CEO." she rolled her eyes, her tone sarcastic.Axel chuckled, his dark eyes dancing. "Relax, Ms. Smith. It's just lunch."Amber let out a shaky breath, trying to calm her racing heart. "Right. Just lunch. No bi
043."What the readers are most curious about now is the fact that you are anonymous, Mr. A," Amber said, looking up to meet Axel's gaze from her laptop. "I'm certain you must have seen their comments on the latest interview. They want to see your face and at Glam Magazine, we strive to give the readers facts to their satisfaction. So permit me to ask when you'd be doing a face reveal? Don't you think you've been too anonymous for long?" she asked.Axel leaned back in his seat with a smirk. "A face reveal isn't a hard thing to do. Infact, I've been thinking about it," he said and Amber's eyes lit up. "But tell, Ms. Smith, do you really think a face reveal would actually be worth it? I mean, I've been anonymous for three years and my company has thrived wonderfully. Why does a face reveal matter to the readers so much?"Amber raised an eyebrow. "You know, Mr. A, that's actually an interesting question," she said thoughtfully. "I think the fascination with a face reveal stems from the s
042."Can you move back a little please? You're kinda invading my personal space." Amber forced these words out of her mouth, but Axel didn't budge."You haven't answered me," he replied, his voice laced with amusement. He knew what he was doing. If she really wanted him to move away and he didn't budge, she'd have moved away by herself. It wasn't like he was holding her or anything. He didn't have her trapped on the wall either. She had the liberty to move away, but she's still standing here, the scent of her strawberry shampoo driving him wild. "I asked you a question. Do you like it?"Amber exhaled, trying to bring words out of her mouth. "I like the arrangement," she answered for the least embarrassing one. "Can you move away now? Or do you want one of your employees to come see us like this? I bet you'd love it when rumours spread about us."Axel snickered, and moved away. Amber smiled, happy that she had gotten to him. But before she could say anything, Axel turned her to face h
