The buzzing in my head was minimal but I was still a bit dizzy. I groaned softly. A bunch of whispers alerted me that I wasn't alone. I opened my eyes a bit and saw the world blurry and lugubrious before it cleared and I could peek out at the surroundings. There were three boys huddled together in a corner whispering. Quietly, I opened my eyes fully trying to not alert them that I was awake as my eyes surveyed the scene around me. I was in some sort of room. Someone's bedroom, lying on a bed that wasn't mine. It looked like it belonged to a small child, it had a race car bed and brightly coloured wallpapers with boyish designs. Neither of the three boys seemed to have noticed or had any knowledge that I had awaken. I couldn't help but become a bit curious as to what they were busy quibbling about so I tried my best to eavesdrop, prying into what they were saying.
"Do you think she's dead?" One boy asks.
It sounded like the voice belonged to the one with the dirty blonde hair. The one that was supposed to catch the ball that struck me. I eyed his black pullover hoodie down to his dark coloured skinny jeans which he then paired with a pair of black combat boots. His deep voice didn't seem to match his exterior, then again he looked a bit over seventeen. I didn't know him that was for sure. I didn't even seem to recognize him from anywhere either, I had only met or seen the guy today at the park.
Who are these people and whose house is this?
He glanced over his shoulder and I closed my eyes immediately pretending to still be unconscious. He didn't notice me flinch a bit and they went back to whispering, ignoring my supposedly unconscious body perched on a child's bed.
I peeked out at them again, careful not to be discovered. Their backs were turned, just like they had been since I regained consciousness and started eavesdropping.
"I told you we should have left her there," the brown-haired boy spat in a hushed tone.
"To die in the middle of the park?" The third one inquires with a voice full of sarcasm.
This time it was the one with silky jet black hair that was faded a bit at the sides that spoke. The one who had been sporting a biker jacket and tees underneath it from earlier.
"How do you say we get rid of it?" Blondie questions.
The one with the brown hair spoke again.
"I don't know, throw it off a bridge make it look like an accident," he jests.
It? That asshole did not just refer to me as 'it'. How rude!
That piece of shit face. I should just walk over and knock him unconscious.
"That won't work," he said clearly ignoring the intended humour, "everyone already saw us taking her from the park idiot."
"What bright ideas do you have to solve this mess Blade?" The brown-haired boy asks, sounding a bit irritated before glancing over his shoulder to which I quickly reacted playing dead.
Blade? Seriously? Out of all the names, his mother chose Blade.
What are his siblings called, Knife and Machete?
"Wait until she wakes up."
He glanced over his shoulder and my eyes snapped shut instantly. I held my breath trying to keep perfectly still without flinching this time. I peeked through one eye and he was still staring at me confused.
Oh shit, he saw me move.
I snapped my eyes tightly closed, hoping he was stupid enough to think it was dreamt, or his brain was playing tricks on him and he had not seen me flinch not even a centimetre.
They started bickering again and I breathe a sigh of relief, peeking through one eye first before safely opening both. They remained huddled together still bickering away in the corner.
"Do you think she has a name tag?" One asks.
It wasn't Blade who spoke. His voice was the deepest and mellow of all three, so it had to have come from the brown-haired one who I was uncertain of his name.
"No, but we could check for an ID."
At least someone has a brain around here.
"Let's check."
Wait what?
Three sets of feet moved noisily over towards the bed in which I was lying in. These perverted assholes were not about to go through my pockets. I heard them move closer and I felt a shadow hover over me. I had to think of something and quick.
I gave a feeble fake cough and all three boys lept back in fright.
"She's alive!" Blondie exclaims.
I opened my eyes slowly keeping up with the pretence. I squinted to make it look a bit more believable, trying to not burst out into laughter at the look of horror on their faces. They seemed to be buying the act staring down at my unnaturally tiny body as if I was some morbid alien.
The dusty haired blonde boy and the brunet were standing closest. Their look of horror quickly turned to grins while the one with the ebony hair, Blade, was standing afar just glaring. I glared back at him, eyes locked with his deep green ones. He was the green-eyed boy that I saw over and over in my head before I had succumbed and gone unconscious. It was him, and to put a name to the face, his name was Blade. Of course.
I rubbed my temples trying to recall what had happened before everything went black. That green-eyed shit was the one who was flaunting his good looks and physique at those girls who were hovering over him begging for his attention. Not to mention, the idiot was the one who threw the football that hit me smack in the face; the one Blondie was supposed to catch.
That son of a bitch...
I pulled myself up on my elbows squinting at him as he stared back at me.
Innocently, I pouted and stared off at him.
My voice escaped my lips at an unnaturally low tone barely above a whisper, "Jesus is that you?"
Blade looked greatly confused. The other two boys stared at him grinning. I was better at acting than I thought which was obvious seeing their reactions. The dusty blonde seemed to mouth something to him before he shrugged and remained with both hands tucked into his jeans pockets, just glaring at me the same.
"Come a little closer I want to touch you," I croaked -even better and more believable than I was a few seconds ago- hoping he would come closer.
He didn't move and the brunet whispered something about me being a 'poor little girl'.
His stern expression didn't change and he unwillingly walked closer to get the other two boys to shut up nevertheless. He stood by the side of the bed and just stared down at me frigidly.
I eased myself up a bit then crawled onto my hands and knees, before straightening out so I could be a bit more equal in height with him. He stared at me, his eyebrows furrowed not smiling or showing any warmth. His friend the brunet stood behind him watching curiously, looking from Blade to me then back to Blade. I reached out my hand to stroke the side of his face and he shifted a little away from my hand. I pouted at him as if I was hurt and he tensed a bit but this time I was able to touch him.
"Jesus it really is you," I coo smiling.
He was being churlish and rolled his eyes. I briskly snapped back my hand, clenching my fingers into a fist and shot him a blow to the face. His head slightly flew backwards and his hand shot to his face cupping his nose that I had just dislocated, angrily shouting a billion profanities.
The brunet stared at me wide-eyed before blondie hopped over the bed to the side Blade was on looking stunned. It was becoming more obvious how furious Blade was as he pinched his nose with his fingers, stomping around stilling hissing a string of expletives.
I had been able to punch him hard enough to cause a bit of blood to trickle down his face. He stopped and glared at me menacingly. The other two boys were standing supposedly barricading him from moving any closer to me. His face turned bright red from rage and utter disbelief, and he clenched and unclenched his fist repeatedly looking like he was ready to punch a wall.
"Dude calm down, remember it's just a little girl," the dusty blonde-haired boy shouted, trying to talk him out of possibly attacking me, not that I thought he would.
His menacing eyes peered into mine, and the brunette stared over his shoulder at me flabbergasted.
"What the hell did you do that for?!" He yells, as Mr. angry pants spat another string of expletives and pinched his nose walking back and forth in place.
"That's what you get for nearly killing me you idiot!" I bark at him getting up from the tiny bed.
The blonde-haired one was staring at me, along with his friend who had spoken before.
"What are you two looking at?" I snap.
They looked shocked, to say the least. I hissed at the blonde who was closest, as Blade still walked back and forth in place pinching his nose to suppress the bleeding."Holy shit! I thought it was a girl!" Blondie blats.
I hissed, "where am I and how do I get out of this hell hole?"
Neither of them responded. Just stared wide-eyed.
"Who are you two?" I spat again impatient for a response.
Blondie looked seemingly appalled by my apathetic manner.
He cleared his throat before replying, scratching his head confused.
"Am Luka and he's Jude. Where the hell did you come from?!."
I frowned at the two boys still staring at me, then eyed Blade who was no longer pinching his nose and looked like himself again. Whatever that was.
I snorted, looking over at Blade, "Then you two must be his damn disciples."
Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum looked like they could still be in wonderland. Blade, on the other hand, was still refusing to talk only glaring at me now and then, pissed I had punched him in the face. His hand was a bit bloody from when he had used it to wipe away the blood. I smirked at him, though he wasn't paying much attention to me.
"I'll show myself out," I mock still smirking at these lame excuses for boys.
I walked towards the door, feeling Jude and Luka's eyes piercing into my back. I had reached the door in only a few strides turning the knob and pulling it open. Glancing behind me I made eye contact with Blade whose face was completely expressionless. My eyes moved across the face of the three boys before having the final word, tauntingly.
"You morons have a good day."
With that, I shut the door behind me and walked down a modestly painted hallway. I didn't stay to find out anything or waited outside the door to eavesdrop. I wanted to get out as quickly as possible. I walked down the staircase as quickly as I could. The wall leading down the stair was covered with many family portraits proudly on display. I stopped to have a brief look at the photos. A photo of a much younger boy who oddly enough resembled Blade and what was supposedly his mom caught my attention.
My eyes flickered to the photo next to it, staring at a shirtless teenage boy who looked comfortable flaunting his handsome looks and his daring abs, sitting on a muscle car. A Shelby Mustang - a very nice ride at that.
This was definitely Blade, and this was his house, it was obvious. I scoffed and continued walking, heading for the door before exiting the house and closing the door behind me.
The street looked unfamiliar at first, all the houses were partially the same and modern. I headed down the driveway and down to the sidewalk before looking both directions trying to figure out in what direction I should head. A cacophony of screams and cheers got my attention in the almost always quiet neighbourhood. It sounded like it was coming from the blue house across the street only it wasn't. It was coming from the houses behind it on another street the one I lived on. It was the noise from the teenagers I had passed on my way to the park. The sun was setting, which left me to assume I must have been out for a little while. I headed down the street on the sidewalk for a bit before making a switch over to the other side onto the street where I lived. I was walking about ten minutes before I was on the correct street heading home leaving the wild house party sound in the distance behind me.
"HEY, YOU!"
I looked up to see the redhead from earlier pointing at me. There was someone else with her this time. They looked like they could be about twenty if I wasn't mistaken.
"You there, pink jacket!" She called as if it wasn't already obvious she had been talking to me seeing I was the only other person out on the street.
With both hands tucked into my pocket, I looked over at her.
"You there! You kicked over the garbage can!"
I ignored her and continued walking.
"You are going to pay for that!" She continued to shout at me.
I stopped to intimidate, looking directly at her and making eye contact. "Make... me..."
She seemed taken aback by my fiesty behaviour, and just stared agape without replying.
I muttered angrily, "exactly what I thought."
Then continued walking.
The redhead girl hadn't even thought to utter a reply. I strutted along to make it home before it went completely dark. The half-moon was already shining weakly in the late afternoon sky and it wasn't exactly chilly but it wasn't exactly warm either. I took long strides to quicken the pace along the sidewalk. The house loomed into view not very long after and I jogged towards it just as the first sign of darkness was about to show. My short legs quickened the pace going up the driveway and onto the porch before bursting into the house. I hadn't spotted Helen's car which meant she wasn't home as yet.The house smelled highly of cheese pizza and beer and there was no sign of anyone inside either. I took the stairs two steps at a time to get to my bedroom which took more energy and effort to leap considering I wasn't very tall.A little ou
"The repair guy will be coming in today," Helen says as she sauntered into my room.I hadn't heard her approaching and jumped a bit at the sound of her voice. I was still crouching on the floor staring at the picture of Emmett shirtless. She stared down at me and I could tell she wanted to know why I was sitting on the floor, even though she didn't ask."You mean he's going to be coming in here?" I asked detesting the idea of some perverted old guy rummaging around through my stuff."No, he will fix the door from outside the house," she replies narrowing her eyes at me.With that sarcastic sassy attitude, most times I had to pinch myself just to be reminded she was an adult. At least everyone's right when they said the apple doesn't f
Phoebe sauntered over swinging her hips. Her long tan legs carried her gracefully, leaving me wondering why she didn't pursue modelling seeing she was a stunning five feet ten inches tall. Phoebe's thick brown curls rested on her shoulders effortlessly and every strand of hair stayed perfectly in place. She pursed her glittery pink lips and toyed mindlessly with the numerous rings she wore on her fingers. The girl also had a thing for body piercings as well as she sported multiple ear piercings and a small heart tattooed on the inside of her arm.Her dress was a bit crimped and she smoothened it out with her palms still looking quite curiously at me. I stood transfixed in place only blinking every few seconds, then stared back out the shop window after Blade who was already long gone. She raised an eyebrow questioningly and chewed on her favourite mint gum slowly and watched quietly for
I checked the rearview mirror every few seconds to see if the black Harley was tailing me, but it wasn't. To make sure the asshole wasn't, I ended up driving around the neighbourhood a few times to throw off any trails. I fished out the phone from my pocket after I was certain I had covered up my tracks and saw the missed call from Helen. At the speed I had been driving around the neighbourhood -making sure to avoid the street Blade lived on- I reached the house not long after and returned the Beetle to the garage in case those idiots drove around searching for the car.It was completely dark out at this point and I hurried into the empty house dashing up the stairs two at a time. That was close. I hadn't expected those three morons to be back so soon. I could have easily given them the slip if that blonde-haired doofus hadn't
The door closed quietly once I had taken a step inside and pulled the hoodie from my head. Only eerie silence and loneliness welcomed me in.My eyes did a sweep of the great room I was standing in, taking in once again its modern decor and furnishings. Hell, this woman could be Helen's long lost twin with the flower pots and her painting of nothing but sticks and bushes hanging on the wall.I took some steps forward and peered around for a bit, while still listening to any strange sounds but the only sound at the moment was that of my shoes on the floor. The house didn't strike me as somewhere Blade would live but I didn't even know the guy that well anyways. That and the fact that he was just an asshole and the only similarity we shared was the mere fact that we didn't like each other.
The door closed and I hurried down the steps of the Collins' home with the key still in my pocket. My feet carried me over to the garden beneath the window where the flower pots were and where the jar that the key had been placed in for safekeeping was hidden.I lifted the lid and dropped the key inside closing it quickly then tucked my hands back into my pockets. I was mindful to keep my head down just in case someone was watching as I walked down the Collins' driveway.A red SUV came cruising down the street. I spotted it as soon as I had finished the length of the driveway and had walked onto the sidewalk. I recognized the SUV immediately without even having to look at the license plate. It was the one I had seen around the parking lot at the floral shop once or twiceand I've also spotted it in and around the neighbourhood bein
"Do you know what time it is?" Helen calls from the ground floor.I scoffed at my ill-fated luck before replying knowing damn well where she was headed with this."I didn't miss curfew did I?"Both Victor and Helen just stared up at me, Helen's stare a bit more aggressive. All I wanted was to take a nap before I passed out and I gave a lazy grin amidst all the tension I knew was brewing and a little salute. I turned stiffly and headed towards my room, and Helen's voice attacked my eardrums again."Where do you think you're going?!"I growled, and continued walking to my room without missing a beat and gave no replies. The door slammed loudly behind me after I walked through and flopp
Victor was standing on the porch with a blanket in hand when I got home. As soon as I stepped onto the porch he threw it over the shoulders of my shivering body. Adam handed me a cup of tea and I didn't know whether to be thankful or to toss it away. The rain had showered down heavily hindering my ability to see clearly through all the hair that was matted to my head and face and the thick curtains of rain. The clothes I had been wearing was soaked down to the very last seam and thread as the water pelted off my body like a waterfall, leaving my shoes soaking as if I had stepped in a giant puddle.Helen, on the other hand, was nowhere to be found, she didn't show up at the welcome home party. Victor whispered something about her being upstairs in their bedroom, not that I cared or that it mattered at all. She wasn't much different from my father, James. Honestly, they were soulmates, bor

The doorbell downstairs rang and I heard Helen's voice floating around before the door opened. Blade's voice greeted whoever opened the door and my heart panged nervously in my chest. I looked good, I told myself as I was doing some quick breathing exercises to calm the nervousness. My eyes swept over myself one last time in the mirror.I had let my hair down and it flowed in a mass of curls around my shoulders. The outfit I had chosen for my first date with Blade was an oversized sweater shirt that was opened back and held together with a ribbon, paired with off white lace shorts and platform sneakers. I gathered my cellphone and my purse and headed downstairs to where Blade was waiting. He was sitting on the couch, looking quite uncomfortable between Helen and Victor who seemed to be giving him'the talk'.I would have laughed if I wasn't already feeling so nervous.
My breathing was shallow and my heart hammered loudly in my chest. I allowed my legs to carry me as best as they could at the moment. The principal's voice continued yelling loudly behind us as Blade led the way down a staircase and I followed."C'mon," he urges a little out of breath as he reached the front door and threw it open.He allowed me to take the lead and he followed closely at my heels as our running footsteps echoed off the ground. The silence that had filled the streets before had been disturbed by our sprint to the Mustang plus my loud panting. Blade threw open the car door and I dashed around to the passenger's side and hopped in. He stepped on the gas as I closed the door. The tires screeched loudly before the car sped off. I was wheezing loudly from exhaustion. My heart was hammering in my chest and my body prickled un
"The principal's house?" I snap, a high guttural sound, "how did my cellphone end up at the principal's house you moron!"His lips tightened into a thin line and I was fuming. The only thing keeping me from attacking him was the fact that I'd never get my cellphone back without him."It's a long story sweetling, and if you plan on getting your cellphone back, I suggest we go now and save the interrogation for later," the asshole replies.I glowered at the smirk he was wearing and let out a frustrated hiss."Fine moron... Stay here while I go change," I command."Oh c'mon Tink, there's no need for that," Blade responds immediately, his eyes looking me over searchingly.
"So you're Brad and he's Chad?" I ask for the second time making conversation and sipping on a cup of strong liquor, all while staring up at the twin who had his hand over my shoulder."Yes," he replies smiling at me, "and you're Secret and your friend over there is Phoebe?" He questions."Yeah," I reply with a chuckle.Phoebe was busy conversing with Chad. She was cheery and flirting as only Phoebe would be.Brad spoke but I didn't hear a word of it. My mind was in a different universe and even when it wasn't I was too engrossed by everything happening around us. The music played loudly, and there were endless whoops and cheers."Do you want to dance?" He repeats loude
"I know it's last-minute but can you tell Phoebe there's a party tonight next door?" I plead, following Helen around the kitchen as again she checked her events calendar and was blatantly ignoring me."A party?... Where?" Victor's disembodied voice asks.Five seconds later he walked into the kitchen. His eyebrow furrowed as I followed Helen around with my face screwed up in annoyance."Tonight, next door," I reply pursing my lips and looking from Helen to him.His eyes gleamed when he saw her and I scoffed under my breath and he cleared his throat and looked back at me."Left or right?" He asks."Right."
The evening sun felt great against my skin just thinking how horribly cold the weather had been not long ago."Decided where to go for your first date yet?" I ask Ossey Thursday after school."Hailey likes theme parks, so maybe there, I guess," he replies with his accent more pronounced and thick."Of course take her somewhere she likes," I say with a smile. The sky was a bright blue dotted with white clouds and a ray of magnificent golden sunshine reflecting against it."I almost forgot," I say turning to Ossey, "Emmett is throwing a party and I agreed to go and I thought you'd want to go too.""Emmett? As in the guy you have a cru
An entire day of searching and yet Blade was nowhere to be found. I wouldn't find him unless he wanted to be found. And he didn't. He had disappeared off the face of the earth like a single water droplet on a sunny day. Clearly, he knew some secret passages in and around the school that I didn't know about, otherwise how else would he have managed to disappear? If I hadn't hesitated to chase after him he wouldn't have gotten away or I'd at least seen where he went.I kept wondering if he was lying about not having gone through all the photos. Even if he hadn't, he had still gone through my cellphone and stolen pictures. Now he'd get to satisfy his disgusting fantasies, that he knows what I look like beneath the clothes.I couldn't turn up at his house. I'd be giving the jerk what he wanted. He even hinted at it himself. Offering the key
Hailey and Ossey? I didn't see that one coming at all. The guy's great and deserves a great girlfriend but the thought of him being googly-eyed and romantic was almost laughable. But who am I to judge, I know absolutely nothing about relationships never have and never will.My mind shifted to Blade for a split second and I shuddered and gagged and shook my head to erase that horrifying seconds thought. Almost as if everyone in the hallways had suddenly lifted from a trance loud whispering commenced. Oswald's friends were staring at him in complete awe and he looked lost. Students hurried down the corridor whispering, eager to go spread the news to anyone who hadn't witnessed the PDA of the century. Ossey's friends were teasing him and he scowled, ignored their jeerings and walked in my direction leaving them howling at him.Ossey approa
