"I don't want to," Zachary spewed, glaring at his father, causing his mother to gasp loudly.
"Zachary!" Mr. Robertson looked extremely pissed as he slammed a fist on the table. It made Mrs. Robertson jump in surprise again.
"Honey.." She was trying to calm her husband down but her hand was brushed off by Mr. Robertson.
"I told you I don't want to. If you like her so much, why don't you marry her instead?" Zachary indifferently said as he placed his fork down the plate. The action and words only made Mr. Robertson more aggravated. His son's rude behavior was something he couldn't control ever since he was a kid.
"Zachary. Your father only wants what's best for you," his mother tried to join and help his father. Zachary smirked sarcastically at the words she used. When did getting engaged to someone you haven't even met once become the "best" thing for your child to do?
It was then his phone vibrated in his pocket, pulling everyone's attention to him. He slid it open and read the message.
It was from Coach Brix.
Zachary heard the loud thud inside. Just what was he expecting? The person he wanted to call the most was probably busy with her new boyfriend. Zachary couldn't help but glare at his parents, the only objects he could see and blame at the moment. After a few seconds, Zachary got up.
"I gotta go for practice. Bye, parents," Zachary waved to his parents who only looked more shocked than they were.
Mr. Robertson's eyebrows knitted in anger, then heavily sighed as he slowly calmed down but was still confused as hell.
Zachary had been a rude, disobedient, always doing what he wanted kind of son since he was a kid and he doesn't really go to dinners with his parents. Parents who only have time and effort for their company to become richer. Was there a day Zachary was taken care of by "mom" when he was sick? Nope. They never really cared. Not one bit.
When Zachary turned sixteen, he had left home and started living in his own apartment. Of course, Mr. Robertson was the one to pay all the bills and his other necessities. As much as he wanted to be a more father figure to Zachary, he didn't have the time and effort for it. Every second of his life was being spent for their company. He strongly believed it was for Zachary's sake. For his future.
In the past three years, Zachary actually became a bit closer to them. He agreed to have dinner with his parents once a month. Mr. Robertson knew how Zachary hated the idea and was actually surprised when Zachary agreed to it one day. Even now, Mr. Robertson didn't know what caused Zachary to make that decision.
That was why they were shocked to see Zachary acting up like his old self again. Though Mr. Robertson had a hunch of the reason... He cleared his throat and turned to look at his wife.
"Call Mrs. Addison and tell her Zachary couldn't make it yet because he has practice. And send her and her daughter their favorite sweets to make amends for it."
"But Honey, that woman doesn't like sweets too much."
"Just give her what she wants," Mr. Robertson looked like he was about to snap.
"But Hon-"
"Just do it!"
And he did snap in the end.
Ah, temperament. Just where did Zachary inherit it?
When Zachary arrived at the swimming area, he found Coach Brix and his other teammates almost finishing up their warm-up. To be honest, Zachary didn't have the energy to do this. Not when things felt like they wouldn't be so good anymore in his life ever since someone destroyed it. Strong word but it was the painful truth.
David was one of the team. There were also two others who were close with Zachary. Actually, he got along with them all well.
"Chad! You're late as well?" Coach Brix's eyebrows twitched, finding another head behind Zachary.
Zachary fisted his hands.
Chad walked towards Zachary, and Zachary almost pounced and destroyed Chad's face right there, if not for David who immediately came in between. Just being in the same place with Chad made Zachary's blood boil.
David cleared his throat and signaled the two other friends to distract Coach Brix.
"You two! Can you not take whatever war you're having in here? We're a team!" David silently scolded the two who kept glaring at each other.
"You three over there! Why are you still standing there? Chad! Zachary! Proceed to the lockers and change quickly! David, get into the water!" Coach Brix ordered. He then used his whistle to order the others to come into the water as well.
Zachary glared at Chad before leaving, and headed to the locker room and changed. Chad followed behind and Zachary couldn't take it anymore and so he decided to speak.
"So? Are you happy now that you took Kathryn away from me?" Zachary tasted the bitterness of his own words.
Chad seemed to have ignored it though, closing his own locker as he turned and headed out after changing to his swimming trunks. Before he could, Zachary spoke again.
"Don't think this is the end. I'm going to make your lives a living hell." Zachary evilly smirked and headed out with heavy steps.
Chad closed his eyes and took a deep breath, knowing fully well Zachary was someone capable of doing what he had just said. Taking a few more deep breaths, he fisted his hands to control his emotions before he headed out and joined the others in the water after having a quick warm-up.
After a few minutes, Coach Brix's whistle almost made everyone deaf. His face was contorted in anger as he looked at Zachary.
"Zachary! What is your problem? You're not usually like this!" He roared, talking about how Zachary didn't swim faster and had lagged too much than the others this time. Usually, Zachary was among the first few ones to finish it. Yet now, Zachary was the last one. The very last.
He looked so unfocused, so distracted that it made the others wonder, except for David and Chad of course who already had an assumption as to why.
Zachary remained silent, half of his body still underwater as he looked down the water. He was spacing out and a few of his friends already went near him and gave a tap on his shoulder. David felt alarmed and tried to rescue his friend.
"Um, Coach, maybe Zachary just needed to-"
"How about we try again huh? Come on, team, get ready! Another lapse!" Coach Brix suddenly had his fighting spirit back.
They did the same again, doing another 20m race, but to Coach Brix's disappointment, Zachary was the last to finish it again.
"Seriously! What do I do with you, Zachary? Are you a wimp? Do you really-" before Coach Brix could finish his rambling, a fist connected to his jaw and caused him to stumble and fall down the floor.
"Shut your mouth or I'll really beat the crap out of you," Zachary said to his coach on the floor, his eyes hooded as he stared down at his own mentor.
Everyone gasped and froze to where they were. Before anyone could recover from the shock, Zachary had already gone to the locker room, and soon, left the gymnasium.
It was already nine in the evening when Earl arrived at Zachary's apartment. The living room was a mess, there were inks on the see-through glass dividers, litters and papers, and cans and bottles of different liquors scattered everywhere.Earl found himself swimming through the ocean of trash before he finally saw Zachary, sitting on the floor by the edge of his bed, a bottle on his grip. His head lulled as he turned to look at his best friend on the doorframe."Oh.. it's you."Earl sighed. Zachary was indeed drunk. He grabbed the bottle away from Zachary but was pushed by the latter. Earl was getting more pissed than ever. Zachary has been pushing him away lately, to the point that he'd lost his balance and landed on something or someone. It was embarrassing and if this happened to anyone, a fight would've already
A fresh-drained and mashed eggplants were placed in a bowl. Kathryn's eyebrows were knitted in concentration as she grabbed the other ingredients, being cheese, eggs, parsley, onion, garlic, and salt, and mixed them all in the mashed eggplant.Professor Lesley was on the roll, checking for each student’s surprise food for the week. She wanted to be surprised, that was what she had always said to her cooking class before giving them exactly thirty minutes to decide and cook their food.Kathryn heard the loud footsteps of their teacher as she carefully shaped the mixed eggplants into patties. Adding a quick few special ingredients, Kathryn rounded the patties in cute tasty flat balls. The heated oil in a skillet was already prepared and so she placed the patties down and waited for them to boil. Professor Lesley
"Fucking asshole! You.. piece.. of shit!""Damn.. you, Zachary!"Zachary was fighting with three other men on the grass. Punches and kicks were thrown everywhere, but despite the number, Zachary wasn't the one to be left behind. Zachary was outnumbered, but the three were clearly outmatched. Zachary was winning the fight. It didn't make Kathryn happy."Zachary! Stop!" Kathryn shouted.Zachary turned at Kathryn, surprised to see her standing there. A fist flew to his face but Zachary was quick to dodge and kick the attacker's stomach. "Fucking shit."The shaking three men staggered getting up, their faces looked like they couldn't fight anymore and Zachary, being the cruel ev
Zachary stared at Kathryn's face full in concentration, her smooth flesh getting in maximum view for Zachary to see as she treated Zachary's cuts and bruises on his face. Zachary's heart was starting to get warmer. Just having to see Kathryn this up close was enough for all his anger, bitterness, sadness, to ebbed away. Just when he was about to touch Kathryn, Kathryn got up."I think you'll be fine after-""No." Don't go, Zachary whispered inside.Kathryn blinked. She couldn't utter a word for a second there and Zachary found it cute. Again, it made his heart swell."I'm hungry," Zachary said. Well, he wasn't really lying, he honestly was hungry. A bit. The sudden growl from his stoma
He slowly turned Kathryn to face him, capturing the younger's lips before she could get back to her senses. Kathryn whimpered, hands pushing Zachary's chest but soon stopped resisting as she slowly opened her mouth and let her and Zachary's lips meet in an intense passionate kiss. Zachary held the small of Kathryn's back, pulling her closer against his body as he kissed her deeper and fuller. Both were moaning as their lips met, with tongues meeting and dancing in an erotic pace, producing a sloppy sliding sound each time they'd try to devour more and more of each other.Zachary slowly pulled away, giving them both time to gasp for air, a trail of saliva erotically hanging in between as their mouths separated. He took the time to look at a panting Kathryn, finding a deep flushed messed-from-a-kiss face of the woman he loved and would forever love, that brought
Awkward. That was the correct and fit term to use as David looked at their seating arrangement in the bus.Chad and Zachary were sitting next to each other. Zachary looked like he was slowly losing all his patience each second, and that any minute he would really attack Chad and kill him. Literally. David knew Zachary was just so capable of doing that. Especially when he proved he could also hurt his own coach.David gulped. He didn't expect Zachary to do that. Though he heard Zachary came after a few days to personally give his apologies to Coach Brix which made Coach Brix be shocked - and scared, he was still getting shivers from Zachary's glare - though he accepted Zachary's apology in the end. Somehow, David already had a clue what made Zachary do that...David, who was sitting just in front of Chad and Zachary, peeked over the two behind again. Chad was slowly losing it too."Aish. Would you please stop staring at me like tha
Kathryn breathed out and breathed in, smiling ear to ear as she inhaled the fresh, breezy air coming from the ocean. She could hear the waves gently crashing to the different rock formations, seagulls flying around, and the boats making splashy sounds as they gently stroked through the water surface."So beautiful!" Her eyes were twinkling excitedly as she bent down and watched from her seat the little fishes going visible through the clean transparent sea."Oh! Earl, look, look! It's Nemo!" Kathryn pointed, her hand trying to grab Earl who was seated next to her in the ferry.Earl looked over and frowned. "Kathryn, it's not Nemo, it's Dory!"Kathryn bent her head closer to the water, unbothered by how the ferry was still running, the fish still swimming with them. "No, Earl, look closer. It's Nemo!"Earl thought it was ridiculous, but it was really a blue tang he was seeing and not a clown fish. He couldn't help
Earl glanced at Zachary, noticing how he wasn't too reacting this time even though Kathryn's name was just mentioned, and answered David. "She’s out with Miss Lesley and a few of our classmates. They're preparing our dinner for tonight.""Oh. And you're here with us?""Well, it was made out of draw-straws. Kathryn was just unlucky to pick the shortest one," Earl laughed softly. Though Kathryn didn't look anywhere near forced to help at all. For all Earl knew, Kathryn was feeling giddy that she was one of the ten students who were fated to make tonight's dinner.David groaned. "Seriously, what's with this, basing everything with draw-straws? I heard the chosen three teams to be together on this trip were made from draw-straws too!"The elevator dinged and the three went out, heading to the Seaside Walkway, a rocky cliff shoreline between islets in the right wingside of Do Island. David and Earl were fully enthralled by the sea, looking at it while th
When Kathryn woke up in the morning, she noticed Zachary wasn't beside her anymore. Rubbing her eyes, she called out for her husband."Zack?"Then a man popped out from the bathroom, all fresh and clean. "Good morning, baby."The image immediately brought a smile to Kathryn. Who would've thought her husband would wake up early today? It was indeed a miracle.A few hours before lunch, Zachary and Kathryn went to the beach side and started to play volleyball. Kathryn wasn't an athletic person but she sure did know how to play this game. Every summer when she was a kid, she would play volleyball on the beach with the other kids from the orphanage.Soon, a few people started joining them. Zachary, upon seeing how happy Kathryn was playing, set aside his possessiveness."Whew, that was a good game," Kathryn said, panting as they took a break and sat under a hut.Zachary smiled and nodded, "Yeah. You're good at this, Kath."Kat
"You really wanna die that much, huh?" Zachary said, his eyes full of rage as he gave Charles a loud hard punch. The impact was too strong which caused Charles to fall to the ground instantly.Everybody gasped and stayed a distance away from Zachary and Charles."What the hell? We're just inviting you!" Charles said, frowning as he wiped blood off his lip.Zachary didn't say anything and was about to attack Charles again when Kathryn caught his arm."Stop! Stop it, Zack!" Kathryn didn't know what to do. Why did Zachary suddenly get mad?"What an asshole," Charles muttered under his breath as one of his friends helped him to stand up.Zachary gritted his teeth and was about to attack again but Kathryn held him still."Zack! Let's just go, please, Zack," Kathryn whispered to her husband.Zachary stared at Charles with a pair of vicious red eyes, silently giving him a death threat before letting Kathryn drag him back to their hote
The sun was already up when Kathryn woke up from her slumber. The sky blue and white curtains were flapping through the open window and Kathryn couldn't help but smile at the sight before her. She could see the pastel-colored skies through the glass walls and she could feel and smell the soft salty air breeze that constantly seeped through the windows. She glanced at her side, feeling her heart becoming warm as she brought her hand to her husband's face and softly caressed his cheek. Kathryn didn't expect being married could give her this kind of emotion. It was all thanks to this sleeping man beside her, that Kathryn could get to experience everything that she never imagined to have. Not to mention, the wonderful emotions radiating through her body whenever she was being held by her husband at night. Kathryn blushed at the thought. It was too early for her to think about such things.Ten months after the proposal and a week after their graduation day, Zachary a
Five months later"Kathryn! Here, here!" David, from the topmost bench, waved at Kathryn who had her head turning around for the past few minutes. The sound of whistles, cheering, and chatters echoed through the swimming gymnasium as people, both from G University and from other schools listed in the competition, continued to enter the place.Kathryn smiled the moment she saw David. Walking towards the said friend, Kathryn passed by a few other schoolmates who greeted her cheerfully. Among them was Vivian Heather."Kath!" Vivian Heather was smiling widely as she got up from one of the benches."Oh, Vivian? Wow, I didn't notice you because of your hair..."Kathryn recognized Vivian and couldn’t help but comment on her hair. It was too bright, with a shade of intense pink, to be left unnoticed.Vivian Heather grinned, "Hehehe, I changed it last week. Does it look good on me?"Kathryn sm
"Leave us alone," Mr. Robertson ordered after a few minutes of silence.Kathryn's eyes wavered, she could feel her fingers slightly tremble as she tried to move her legs, following what the towering figure just uttered. She was about to head to the door when Zachary's hand suddenly caught hers, stopping her from leaving.Kathryn stared at Zachary's eyes then, only to find them hard and serious as Zachary sternly whispered, "Don't leave.""Let her leave, we'll do a serious talk," Mr. Robertson's voice wasn't far from Zachary's tone either.Zachary turned to his father, eyes red in anger, "It was you, it was all your fucking fault Kathryn had to suffer by herself. I'm not going to let this go, you hear me? If you dare hurt Kathryn again, I swear to god I'm gonna kill you!"Mr. Robertson frowned then, his eyes casting that of disappointment. "This isn't going to work... Zachary, Kathryn can’t give you a child.
Soon, the swimming team bid their goodbyes, explaining they too had to attend to some personal matters of their own. They teasingly made a remark to Zachary though, advising the injured man to watch out for any rival who'd take Kathryn away from him, which, as always, Zachary glared at and flipped them off.He was waiting for Kathryn to come when the door finally opened and revealed not one but two figures.Kathryn nudged Chad to come in, capturing Zachary's dragon eyes that looked like they were burning holes on Chad's clothes that were touched by Kathryn. Chad gulped. Zachary's possessiveness was no joke after all. Why did Chad make the biggest mistake? Why was he so dumb? Not wanting to add more reasons to be killed, Chad purposely made a distance from Kathryn and went ahead to meet Zachary."Hey," Chad remained calm as he cleared his throat, "How are your injuries?"Zachary scoffed at that, sending shivers down Chad's spin
The moment Kathryn had stepped inside the hospital, she stopped for a while and took a deep breath. She couldn't believe she just spoke to those men! It was her first time to face them head-on and she wasn't going to lie that she didn’t feel scared a bit. Heck, the first time she saw them was before the trip, and they were following her like crazy. Kathryn wanted to report them then, but when she discovered they were men from Zachary's father, Kathryn became even more frightened and unwilling to speak. She had the urgency to stop the plan but she didn't also want it to end yet, not when she hadn't proven her worth to be by Zachary's side. The men were actually harmless. Not even once did they touch Kathryn and Kathryn was thankful for that. But she couldn't be at ease, not when they were following her almost every second of every day. Even David and Chad discovered them. It was a miracle Earl's hawk eyes and Zachary's dragon eyes failed to notice the existence of
Cuddling after a tiring activity turned out to be Zachary and Kathryn's favorite routine. Kathryn's leg was entangled with Zachary's one as Kathryn lay next to her still healing lover.Earl, being the first to know about Zachary finally waking up after Kathryn, visited Zachary a while ago saying Zachary's coach together with Chad, David, and other teammates would probably be visiting too after their practice. Luckily, Earl didn't come at the worst possible scenario and only found the two cuddled up together which confused him to the max before the two explained everything. Earl felt betrayed and so left out he was the only person other than Zachary who didn't know about Kathryn's situation."I thought you stopped liking me because I still sneak out sometimes and drink or smoke," Zachary mentioned while Kathryn was peeling an apple for him on a chair near his bed, just a few minutes after Earl left.Kathryn stopped and stared at Zachary, blinking cluelessly
Zachary chuckled and quickly kissed Kathryn's lips which deepened not so long after Zachary pulled Kathryn even closer. Giving a few pecks and licking Kathryn's lips while holding her face possessively, Zachary smiled. "Just kidding... stop thinking that way though. I hate it."Kathryn looked up, eyes boring into Zachary’s, unconsciously looking too innocent and cute for the man to see. "Hate what?"Zachary gave her a serious glance, "That you're selfish and all that.""But I am...""Psh. Whatever. Selfish or not, you're mine anyway. You love me and only me," Zachary uttered as he gave a quick loving peck on Kathryn's cheek.Kathryn looked away, blushing hard as she mumbled how Zachary was right even if he sounded cocky about it. Zachary chuckled at the sight as he then softly caressed Kathryn's face, pulling her up to meet his own eyes. Zachary stared right into Kathryn's soul, conveying all his love to the younger as Kathryn, feeling
