Great Timing

Cali's POV

"You better start talking." Jake says as he comes and takes his place in front of me and hand me over my ice cream.

"Why do you always get vanilla ice cream? It's so bland." I rudely comment on his taste.

"And why do you always get different ice creams?" He asked back.

"Maybe because I like different things. Ever heard of 'going wild'?" I replied and start licking my ice cream. I was trying to distract him and it was working out perfectly. For all I know I get away from at least this problem of mine.

"You? Wild? I don't think those word belong in the same sentence," he then continued with a glare, "Now stop distracting me and tell me what is happening."

Ugh it so did not work!

"Well-" I started but was interrupted by my phone. Giving Jake a sleek smile, I pick up the call.

"Hello?"

"C-Cali....please come here f-fast," Eva's voice rang through, evidently she was crying.

"Eva? What happened?" I asked.

"Just... hurry u-up,"

"I am coming. Wait," I say as she hug up. Jake was on his feet without even questioning me.

"Let's get going," he states as we leave.

--------------------------------------

Ring Ring Ring.

When the door opens Eva's mum is standing there looking as calm as a hurricane. What I mean to say is she looks frantic

"Thank God you people came. Eva is upstairs," she tells us, and opened the door wide open for us to enter. I nod in response while Jake greets back. I rushed up to Eva's room, Jake following the lead. We burst in the room to see Eva crying on her bed. When I say crying, I mean the crying where your nose is flowing, eyes are puffed out and a loud noise is made.

I rush to her side. Stroking her back lightly. She looks up and sniffs. Jake is giving us space cause of he knows he is useless in this situation.

"Eva what happened?" I asked quite calmly.

"Fi-fire!" She was looking at me with glassy eyes.

"It's fine now, don't worry." Jake commented from his position.

"Jake, can ya get me a glass of water?" I ask him.

"Hmm," and he was gone.

"Eva I want you to listen this clearly. They can't hurt you anymore. You have to deal with those flames. It happened 8 years back. Get over it. Please, for me, for your mom, for you." I tried getting it through her head. She was hiccuping now.

Eva had lost her father 8 years back in a car accident. She was ten at the time. The car had been turned upside down. Her mum saved her and when she came back to save her dad, the car had burst into flames. That fire had given her both physical as well as mental scars.

"How would you know! You do not even care that you don't have your dad with you!" She shouted. Her words hit me like bullets, hitting it's target aka my heart. When she realized this, she said, "I'm sorry, I did not mean-"

"Water?" Jake comes in and hands the glass to Eva.

" I need to go. Take care, sorry for not knowing how it feels." I said and left. The surprise look on Jake's face would have made me laugh if it were another situation.

---------------------------------------------------

The view was breath taking. No matter how many times I have come here, it still manages to take my breath away. There was just something calm about it. I took out free time just to visit here once in a while. I was on the terrace of Benjamin & Harrisons CO. I knew the guy who owed this all. Nick Benjamin was a good friend of my mom in college. When I had turned 16, he gave me the keys one of the hotel rooms saying 'if your mum kicks you out, come here anytime'. His words not mine.

The thing with living in London is the amazing atmosphere. The calm which is found in the busiest of the corners or the friendships made in the weirdest of the situations. London isn't about the stereotype tea or the endearment 'love'. It is the beauty that caught people's attention.

The hotel room was pretty cozy. A bed, closet, a dressing table and a washroom. One of the walls of total window. I was laying on the bed while enjoying the scene. I had taken two advils and while putting them back the whole tablets spilled. Being the lazy person I am I left it as it is.

I don't remember for how long I was there. Neither of what I thought at that time. I had put my phone on airplane mode and put on the songs on shuffle.

In some time I had dozed off.

Blake's POV

"The number you have called is temporally switched off. Please try again later." This was the tenth time I had called her. Where is she?

"Blake you need to calm down." Spencer said in a failed attempt. Zac, River and Justin were also here. They knew that I had something to do with Cali but not exactly what the reason was.

"Calm down my foot!" They did not get it. She now had another reason to give up her life. She had almost lost her innocence. Cause of me. If I had come earlier. Maybe I should have not left her at all. For all I know she might be at the verge of giving up her life, and here I am doing nothing to get her whereabouts.

It was midnight , when I had received a message from Jay saying that Cali was not home yet. The image of her standing on the school terrace came in my head, and that's when I lost it.

Remembering about her friend, what was her name? Eve? No Eva. I get her number from River's phone and dial her up. She picks up after some rings.

"Hello?"

"Is Cali there?"

"Umm....who is this?"

"I asked whether Cali is there on NOT!??"

"She isn't. But what happened? Is she fine?"

"Did something happen today? Anything? To make her feel bad?"

"Who the hell is this?"

"It's Blake. Now answer!"

"Why should I?"

"Cause she might be at the verge of dieing right now!"

"She-she wouldn't! I did not even mean it. How could-"

"What did you say her?!!" If Cali has even a scratch, then this girl ain't gonna be left without punishment.

"I-i reminded her of her D-d-dad." She was crying by now.

"Shit!" I shut the phone close.

"Justin, be of some use and track the last location of Cali's phone." I commanded while messaging all the people I knew to ask about Cali's whereabouts.

"Dude, she is just some chick. Why the hell do you even care?" River asked, yawning.

"Do you even know that her life is in danger right now?!" I shouted. I knew it was like invading her privacy but these people can not just say she is just a chick?!

"What?" The three asked at the same time.

"She.." My phone interrupted. I pick it up. "Hello?"

"Sir, we got her location. She's in Harrington hotel. Room 273, 23rd floor. Seems like she did not reply to any room services." The guy who I had appointed to know her location had called. After mumbling a thank you I cut the phone and run to my car, leaving the guys in confusion.

Starting the car, I rush to the said hotel. She hadn't answered the room services. What if she...No. I hit the accelerator harder.

In a record time of 10 minutes I was there, the receptionist looked at me weirdly as I rushed up there.

"Keys for room 273." I ask. He looks at me in disbelieve.

"I'm sorry sir but-"

"Keys. NOW!" I shouted. Taking out some money, I slammed it at the counter. He looks wide eyed. Then gives me the key. I snatch it and run for the elevator.

The awful time the lift takes to move made me think of all the scenarios that can happen. When the elevator opens, I rushed out.

269 270 271 272 273

That's the room. Inserting the key I opened the door.

I burst inside to find a girl's body lying on the bed. With her hand dropped down. When I see the floor, that's when I notice the pills. Shit! I run to her.

"Cali!"
