Amanda's POV
Great. I didn't understand what Vince was planning. It was all a big mess to me. Somehow, I had thought we were more than friends. Perhaps, it was all in my head. Everything that we had gone through was imagined. If that was true, why did it hurt so much?
Just seeing Vince's lips on another girl... made my blood boil. First, it was Emma, then this brunette girl from my German class. Ugh. I was sick and tired of his games.
Whatever. I was supposed to be enjoying my night with Jerry. Wouldn't let these thoughts cloud my head and prevent me from having a well-deserved good time here.
If you think that this would ruin my night, try harder, player. This was perhaps a defense mechanism, but at this point, two can play at
Amanda's POVI held my breath as he walked past, not daring to make a sound. I was hiding behind the classroom door, my back facing it. The tension was palpable in the pin-drop silence of the classroom. From where I was standing, I could hear the shuffling footsteps not far away. Oh no, Jerry is going to come here any time soon.My shoe at this moment decided to make a terribly loud clicky noise. Oh dammit, why had I decided to wear these heels again?Mentally, I slapped myself. Seriously Amanda? At this time. Perhaps a little harder than Emma's, couldn't be too sure about that.Jerry turned and looked at the wall that I was hiding on. I could almost feel his burning gaze on me. Plea
Amanda's POVWhat? Why was Emma here? My mind was boggling with questions. Was she here for round two, or was the truth not clearly enough spoken?Vince immediately tensed up beside me, but he did not move away. I gradually relaxed. We were in this together now, and there was nothing to fear. She turned to me, her eyes burning with rage and intensity. Also a little hurt in her eyes. She stared at me and Vince like she was sizing us up like a predator ready to pounce. My mind froze, as if not wanting to respond. No, she won't ruin my night again. Somehow, I knew that this won't be the last time this would happen."Back off from Vince before you get it from me." She threatened, glaring
Amanda's POVAfter Emma left, Vince turned to me, his face impassive, yet his eyes were filled with emotion. I was again spellbound by the sincerity in his eyes. We were now seated at a bench, enjoying the cool nighttime breeze.I shivered a little, and Vince scooted closer to me. It just felt right, being here together with him and enjoying the silence.Yes, this was exactly where I wanted us to be. For all the drama with Emma and her confession, it was worth it. I sighed."I'm so sorry." He apologized, but I wasn't sure what for. He had no need to be sorry, as it was not his fault at all."It's okay." I smiled. At least the problem got settled and we could really move on. At least in terms of who we could be with. If Emma had meant what she had said, I guess everything is fine.I had something to say but decided to wait till tomorrow to gauge his response. I just had to ask him. About the file. Did he know about it?
A beat passed and he opened his arms, inviting me to hug him. He smiled a warm, shy smile. It was the very first time I saw Vince's shy smile, and it made my heart melt. His dark eyes met mine and I could tell there was a raw emotion brimming the surface. I knew my eyes were a reflection of his at that moment.Willingly, I complied and fell into his arms. It just felt so right, to be in the comfort of his embrace. Even though we were both sweaty and definitely exhausted, to say the least, I was grateful for his support. It felt so right, comfortable like the feel of a home. The combination of the scent of him and his cologne created a deliciously eclectic mix that I was slowly getting accustomed to.As always, my heart pounded in doub
In the confines of the car, my heartbeat sped up instantly, taking control of my mind. Blood pounded in my ears. Oh no, it must be turning red by now.The fact that Vince was here made it even more uncomfortable. I needed to be alone. This was such a rude shock. I can't believe he is back, and he never called. My shaking hand still held my phone. My fingers felt so weak, I could drop my phone anytime. Suddenly, I felt nauseous and wanted to throw up, my head feeling numb.I swallowed and glanced down, not wanting to alarm Vince. The car felt so small all of a sudden, almost suffocating. I shifted uncomfortably against the plush leather seats.'You okay, kitten?' Vince asked me, shooting me a worried glance, as he dro
Vince's POVAmanda looked at me, her hazel eyes questioning me silently. I signed, running a hand through my wild waves of bronze hair. I had changed too when Amanda was changing into my sister's clothes. Now, I was wearing a tight white T-shirt and some low-slung jeans. I would say I tried to look good for Amanda, but don't I always look good. I smirked silently to myself. Amanda hardly noticed as she was staring absently into the air.'Call your mom to tell her that you're staying.' I said, raising an eyebrow at her. Someone has got to be the responsible adult at times."Liz isn't my mom," she muttered under her breath but she complied. Interesting. I thought Liz was her mom. My eyebrows crinkled slightly at this. Perhaps she
Amanda's POVThe first thought that occurred to me was, why was Alex here? And Jerry in fact? This seemed hardly to be the place that good people like Jerry and Alex would be. My mind was spinning. Could there be a different side to them that I'd never known?Making my way past the throngs of people, ideas were running through my mind. Perhaps he was here to support Vince, but that was unlikely given his dislike to him.Why was he here then? There was an uncontrollable urge to find out, to get to the truth as to why strange things had been happening ever since I got close to Vince.'Alex!' I called loudly when I was a few meters away from him. Many faces turned to face me in irritati
Vince's POVMy insides were shaking. I couldn't tell if it was from rage, or fear, or pure desperation. Even in the toughest fights, I had never felt this way before. My mind went completely numb and I could not feel my hands for a few seconds.I couldn't believe it. Just when I thought I had Amanda, safe by my side, but now, Jerry had ruined it again. My teeth gritted together and I let out a huge agonizing sound that was a bit like an animal's snarl. My hands balled into fists and I was shaking.Nothing would stop me now. Amanda had been misled, terribly misled and it had been Jerry's fault. True, I was Amanda's tutor in the first place so that I could get closer to her and sneak in to get the file. However, things changed and
