Chapter 6:The baby contract

BELLA’s POV

My heart sank as I recognized the contract in his hands. “You were actually serious about this thing?”

“Do I look like The Joker?” He asked back.”This is called The Baby Contract.Read through and sign in the appropriate places. You can read right?”

I sat down uncomfortably on the couch, my skimpy rumpled nightgown clinging to me.

He looked at me like he could see my panties.

Wait could he?

I quickly clamped my legs together and placed a pillow over my  thick thighs he had been seeing for free.

I couldn’t help feeling self conscious under his scrutinizing gaze.

Reluctantly, I turned my attention to the contract he had placed in front of me and as I skimmed through the pages, my eyes widened in disbelief. There, in black and white, were twelve ridiculous rules that he expected me to adhere to. It felt like a slap in the face.

Rule 1:The very week we get married,we try for a baby.

Rule 2:You are not allowed to have any male friends or spend time alone with any man other than me.

Rule 3: You must always be ready to accompany me to any social events or gatherings, regardless of your personal desires or comfort.

Rule 4:You must learn how to make my coffee exactly how I like it and serve it to me first thing in the mornings.

Rule 5: You are not allowed to pursue any career or engage in any activity that might distract you from my duties as my wife and mother of my child.

Rule 6: You are not allowed to question my decisions or opinions concerning you and our child.

Rule 7: No visitors around the mansion.

Rule 8: You would eat only what I allow you to. Don’t want my baby coming out as a retard.

Rule 8: You  must be physically available to me whenever I desire intimacy, regardless of your own feelings or consent. (Pregnancy sex is healthy)

Rule 9:You are not allowed to have any secrets or privacy. I have the right to access your personal devices and accounts at any time.

Rule 10: You must always prioritize my needs and well being first as well as our baby’s before yours.

Rule 11:You are not allowed to cut your hair or make any changes to your physical appearance without my approval. I decide what you wear.

Rule 12: Two months after our baby is born,I would have full custody, our marriage would be annulled and I pay you off.

I couldn't believe what I was reading. These rules were suffocating and completely unacceptable.

"Aaron, I can't adhere to these rules," I said in a strangled voice."Are you kidding me?This is not a marriage; it's a prison."

He scoffed and rolled his eyes, dismissing my concerns. "Marriage isn’t a bed of roses.Stop whining, because I am a very busy person. Sign the fucking papers. I need to leave.”

I weighed my options. Who was I even kidding? I had no other option.

Without thinking, without weighing the consequences, I reached for the pen and hastily scribbled my signature on the dotted line.

“Good,” he gave a very stupid sexy smirk I desperately wanted to slap off.”My driver would be here by 7pm to pick you up.”

“Wait..Pick me up and go where?”

“To the mansion? You want to live in this hell hole as my wife? Don’t be ridiculous. You would be living at the mansion Bella.I would be introducing you to my family tonight.”

Okay,I hadn’t thought about that part.

“I would send the payments to the hospital for your mother’s surgery as soon as I leave here.” He paused as he rose to his feet.”Better be ready at 7pm sharp. My family doesn’t tolerate tardiness. Oh and make sure you look your best? And one more thing, stay away from my brother,Noah.”

I watched his retreating figure step out of my house and let my head hang loosely in my hands.

“Jesus Christ. What have I gotten myself into?”

******

The clock read 6:50pm.

I sat on the edge of my bed, surrounded by suitcases, as I packed my belongings. I had just finished telling my best friend, Mary Jane, about the unbelievable situation I had found myself in. Her short and petite figure stood beside me, her black hair neatly pulled back into a bun, and her modest clothes emphasizing her conservative nature.

Her skin was as white as snow and she was very pretty on the eyes.

Mary Jane's eyes widened in disbelief as she listened to my story. "Bella, I can't believe he would do something like this to you," she said, her voice filled with genuine concern. "You don't deserve any of this. You deserve so much better. That Ryan guy is such a devil.”

“Yeah, that motherfucker.I hate him so much right now.”

“Language,Bella.”

I rolled my eyes. She always acted like the Virgin Mary and that was ironical because I was the virgin there! She,infact had sex already dozens of times.

But according to her, that was her past life and she was celibate now.

We had been best friends for two years. I had met her for the very first time at the hospital when my mother’s health issues started. She just had an abortion done that almost claimed her life and it was a critical point in her life. And since then, she just vowed to stay away from all men.

And she started going to church too.

It had to be a huge step for her but she seemed happier now.

Why I was still a virgin at my age was pretty simple. I hated all men and somehow wasn’t ever attracted or gave any of them any chance. No,I wasn’t a lesbo either. I watched how badly my father treated my mom when I was growing up and just had the notion that all men were like that.

Ryan was the first guy I ever opened up to and he was my first actual male friend when I turned 20.

Recently, we started dating when I finally fell for him but my first choice turned out to be my greatest mistake.

Well,fuck him.

“But then again,” MaryJane’s strong southern accent filled my ears.”Are you really going to be the wife of Aaron Davis? Isn’t this crazy!”

“Too late to cry over spilt milk. I already signed the damned contract and I leave in a few minutes.”

“Aren’t you scared?”

“MJ, I am cause I don’t know what to expect. Never been someone’s wife before or a mother. It’s a lot to take in.I am scared about Mom too.”

MaryJane clasped her fingers over mine.”I would always be here for you no matter what. And don’t worry about your Mom. I would take care of her when she gets discharged from the hospital.”

“I love you so much MJ,you’re the best friend ever,” I hugged her tightly.

Just then, the door burst open, and Ryan, my now ex-boyfriend, stormed into the room. His eyes widened in surprise as he took in the sight of me packing my bags. "Bella, what's going on? You can't leave," he pleaded.”Where are you going?”

“None of your bloody business. Go meet the girl that you cheated on me with.” I said, striving to sound calm.

“You have the nerve to show your face here right?” Mary Jane chimed in,staring daggers at him.

“Please,I already explained that it was a one time thing. You have been ignoring my calls and messages.I just need you to hear me out,”

“I don’t need your lies, buddy. And FYI, you’re blocked and you would remain blocked for as long as you shall live.”

“Wait,at least tell me where you are going? Come on,you can’t do this to me.” He edged closer and I took a step backwards.

I heard a large honking outside. Great. Right on cue.

“She has a new life now,so buzz off.” MaryJane told him.

With Mary Jane's help, I carried my suitcases out to the porch. The cool breeze brushed against my face and I I noticed an expensive white limousine waiting for me, the chauffeur standing beside it.

MaryJane’s mouth dropped open. Ryan looked equally confused. He didn’t understand a thing and I wasn’t explaining anything to him.

“Close your mouth MJ,” I whispered with a little smile.”A fly might just get in.”

She swallowed hard and whispered back,”Oh my God,is this your ride?”

“I guess so,” I shrugged.

The chauffeur stepped forward, a polite smile on his face. "Good afternoon, Miss Bella," he greeted me, his voice warm and professional. "My name is James, and I'll be your chauffeur today. I hope you have a pleasant journey as I take you to your new home.”

"Thank you, James," I replied, my voice filled with gratitude as I watched him take care of my bags.

"New home? What is he talking about?” Ryan looked lost.

“Do me a favour and go fuck yourself,Ryan.” I said simply and turned to give MaryJane a quick tight hug.

“Thank you for everything,”

With swift efficiency, James loaded my suitcases into the trunk of the limousine.

“Take good care of yourself, best friend.” She replied.

James opened the car door and I got settled in the seat.

“Remember me in paradise Bella! Don’t you dare forget about me,” MaryJane waved excitedly and I snorted with laughter. Ryan looked like he was in a daze.

Good riddance.

"No, Aaron, it wasn't like that," I tried to explain, my voice trembling with both fear and frustration. "We were just talking. There was really nothing more to it." He grabbed my arm tightly, pulling me away with him towards our bedroom. Once inside, he slammed the door shut and turned to face me, his jaw clenched. "I don't want you talking to Noah," he growled, his voice low and dangerous. "He's my brother, and he's caused enough trouble in my life,do you hear me?." BELLA’s POVAs I walked into the living room, I spotted Noah sitting on the couch, fully immersed in a video game. I hesitated for a moment, unsure if I should interrupt him or simply turn away and leave him to his own devices. But before I could make up my mind, he noticed me and called me back. "Hey, Bella! Come join me," he said with a grin, patting the spot next to him on the couch. I contemplated for a moment, not entirely comfortable with the idea of playing video games, but then I thought, why not? It could be a fun way to bond with Aaron's brother. Although I knew I ought to be staying far away from him. I couldn’t help it though. He looked harmless and very cheerful.Besides, it was better than sitting alone in my room feeling homesick. "Sure, why not?" I replied with a smile, taking a seat beside him. I glanced at the clock on the wall and saw that it was already 6 pm. Time had flown by, and I hadn't even noticed. Noah mentioned a charity gala and asked if I was going wit
