Christina’s POV We left the Mountain Creek Pack a day ago. The journey so far has been amazing. Quinn loved the freedom she had and that she got to run with a purpose. Jen and the others have been following her. Then, when she shifts, I train the hawks. We have really bonded during our time together. We also sleep in wolf form for safety. I keep trying to name the hawks, but there are so many of them and they all look so similar, it’s just impossible. Jen is the only one that stands out amongst them. She’s so protective of me she won’t even let the others come near. The bag we are carrying doesn’t contain much. A dress, a pair of pumps, a hairbrush, my falconry glove, a small amount of money and the picture of Nix’s mom. Our training session went well today. The hawks are following my instructions and directions. I felt a great sense of achievement. That night I slept in my human form. I looked up at the stars and asked myself, “What does it all mean? Is there something m
Christina’s POV I continue on my journey to the palace. “We will be there in a few hours,” Quinn reminds me. She also reminds me she will be asleep for a few hours while the eclipse takes place. This will be the first time she will have left me since she arrived. I am nervous about it, actually. Out here alone, anything could happen. Then I hear multiple screeches from above me and my nerves disappear. I will not be alone. Quinn runs as far as she can before she shifts. At least the palace is within sight. There are no guards around, though. The palace ought to have had better protection. Quinn becomes restless and antsy. I have never known her to be like this. “Are you okay?” I asked her. “Yes, I just have this feeling that things are not as they should be.” “They are probably nearer the palace for everyone’s safety. Don’t be nervous, Quinn. It was our first time without each other. I will be here when you wake up.” I also reminded her I am not a bad fighter and that I
Florence’s POV I know my boys have never liked the Wolf Council. But to outright to accuse them of kidnapping Summer and Eden. Of murdering poor Adam and attempting to overthrow the kingdom. I can’t believe what I am hearing. They are right in one respect. The goddess is to be protected at all costs. Regardless of what is going on. I made my way back to my room. Nathan, Dawson, and Rayne are all too busy with what’s going on. I may not be the Luna Queen any longer. But I still have this kingdom’s best interests at heart. I know many others who are from my generation that would feel the same way. I made several phone calls. All of whom were my friends and acquaintances. The ones everyone forgets about. We were once the defenders of this magnificent land. Now, when it needs to be defended, I doubt anyone of them would back down. The room was full. I briefly explained the situation about the goddess arriving and that there may be a threat to her life, which was why the Wolf Coun
Rayne’s POV “Uncle Rayne, the Council Member’s. They made it to the palace. We made sure she got here safely.” Max says to me, gesturing to the girl controlling the hawks. “Okay, boys, stay with Nix and Lottie. Keep safe. Get to Caren. I will take care of them.” I yelled at my nephews while grabbing a long dagger from the ground. They will be safest with them. I know that for a fact. I had to stop multiple times on my way to the palace doors. Sometimes, I had to act to prevent my men from being killed. Sometimes, I had to fight for my life against men attacking me. I sprinted inside as soon as I made it to the palace doors. I know I have lost time. I just hope I am not too late. Even though I suspected the Wolf Council of being up to something. I never expected them to get as far as the palace. I really didn’t. It was foolish of me not to protect the palace. To protect the attic. I had focused too much on what was in front of me. ‘What an idiot.’ I scolded myself. I rushed
Goddess Selene’s POV “Do you not see what they are planning?” Steff asks me. “I do. But they have free will. I will not interfere without a good cause.” “Selene, they have suppressed their wolves for so long that they are too weak to do anything. Aren’t you concerned about them?” “I am. But the human is more dominant. The wolves will get a new host in time. The human has the choice. If they want to live their life, being jealous of others because they have something they don’t. Let them.” I can see Steff’s frustration as she paces around in circles. “If they attempt to harm me, I will do something.” She mumbles something and when I ask her about it, she denies saying anything. I know what she said. I just wanted to see if she would tell me. “Are you okay lately, Steff?” “Just worrying about your meeting. The three of you are in the same place with people who want to harm you nearby.” I smiled at her. “You truly are an amazing friend. You always have been.” “And I always wi
I observe as three of my friends stand guard, defending us. It's kind of embarrassing though. I’m not a weak man. I can fight. It’s the women defending the royal family. Caren was right, though. No one can even get close to them. Caren tosses men into the air. Allowing the laws of gravity to take over when she thinks they are high enough. Some men survive the fall, others are not so lucky. Lottie scorches anyone that comes near her. Christina directs Jen and the other hawks towards them. I am not sure which way I would prefer to die. Each one looks to be as painful as the next. Reed and Maddox are pacing behind me. I can hear them complaining. I guess they don’t want to see what their mates are doing or what they are capable of. Max and Jax are beside their parents, Summer sobbing her heart out at the loss of her wolf, Alexis. I walked up to them and got the attention of one of Eden’s dads. I struggle to tell them apart. “The moment the eclipse is over. I need you to mi
Summer’s POV I have been so upset since I woke up. The emotional pain is worse than the physical. “Have I not been through enough?” I asked my mates. “How will you ever love me if Alexis has died?” I asked Dawson. “We love you for the woman you are. The mate bond just brought us together.” Nathan tells me. He is trying to soothe me. I know he is telling the truth. But my emotions are all over the place and I'm not thinking straight. “She has been a part of me for so long. I can’t imagine what life would be like without her. She didn’t deserve to die.” I told them. “We love you too,” Max tells me. I gave both my boys a small smile. “I know you do.” I know both Nathan and Dawson hate seeing me like this. Just like I would hate seeing either of them like this. Nix asks Nathan for some help with something. Taking him away from me. I saw him nod to Dawson. They’ll probably never let me out of their sight again. “I guess the eclipse is about to end and it will be official. Al
General Rayne’s POV How can so much crap have happened in a day? Not even a day. It’s not even 3pm yet. I look at the people surrounding me. I thank the goddess that everyone’s still with us. Although they may be hurt or exhausted, they are breathing. Oh crap, Elizabeth, the kids. “Hi Honey.” I mind link her. “Hi Honey? You tell me the absolute basics of what is going on. Then you say Hi Honey, to me. Do you know what happened here?” She snaps at me. I can feel her irritation through the bond. No matter how I answer her. I will be wrong. I chose to stay quiet. “How dare you not tell me what was happening? I am your mate. The mother of your children. You didn’t think I should know that you were going to face the fight of your life. We could have lost you.” I said nothing. If I told her, she might have panicked. But not telling her caused her to worry. “Yeah, I got your message.” She will never know how close to death I came today. Or that the girl she sent ac
