Summer’s POV SUVs started arriving about a week before the Blue Moon, lots of SUVs. Obviously, the Royal Guard and everything they own, by the looks of it. I thought men travelled lightly, but not this lot. On the other hand, they brought their own tents, equipment, and belongings. Several fields have been assigned for them to set up a base near the training field. They work efficiently and fast. It only took two days for them to set everything up. You could see the worry lines on Alpha Jackson, face. The town is abuzz with the appearance of the Royal Guards and their use of the town's amenities. I go about my day as usual, which started with an enjoyable cup of coffee from the local coffee shop. I am trying to avoid the extra people in town. It’s not that there is anything wrong with them. I just don’t need any complications in my life. I have enough of that as it is. They are also the wrong gender for me to deal with. Alexis has been a bit whiney, though. She seems agi
Summer’s POV I saw a man at the edge of the training field. He was sprinting towards me. I could only make out his silhouette at first. “It’s them. I can feel Zen.” Alexis was screaming at me. Causing me to run to Rayne. He's racing towards me. When he gets closer, I can finally see his face. Tears streamed down my face. I couldn’t stop them. When he was close enough, I just leapt into Rayne’s arms, wrapping my legs around his waist and my arms around his neck, burying my face between my arms. My big brother, my big brother, has found me. I just cry and cry and cry, I am so happy. He is stroking my hair as he collapses to the ground with me in his arms. I initially thought he was catching his breath, since I landed on him awkwardly. But then, when he is clawing at his throat, I realize he can’t breathe. If I panic now, I am no use to him. It’s then I realize I have seen this happen before. He continues to squirm around on the floor, clawing at his neck. I look
Summer’s POV It's clear that the royal guards are nearby, a few have joined the border patrol. Their main duty is to ensure the safety of the pack borders by preventing any attacks. Which I knew they wouldn’t be seeing as Alpha Jackson had given Isaac their schedule. This allowed anyone who needed my help to receive it. The presence of the royal guards in the town is clear. The shops and cafes have never been busier. This pleases Alpha Jackson, as they are spending money in the pack. But other than that, they ’t causing any problems. I go back to work and the rogue women come undetected. There is no cause for concern. Alpha Jackson had messaged him. “Isaac had reported some unusual scents just outside of the pack territory. But it could just be scents of the royal guards. I am not worried. We have so much extra security here. Who would be stupid enough to attack us?” Isaac had to accept the situation as it was. His pack would lose in a fight against the full force o
Rayne’s POV I contacted my parents. I let them know I was at the Crystal Lake Pack and asked them to join me for a few days. I am going to stay for as long as I can. Once they find out Summer is here, mom is going to flip out. But when she learns about Summer's kids she will probably stay indefinitely. The kids are great. Summer has done an amazing job of raising them alone. It is strange they never take their sunglasses off, though. But who am I to know what is fashionable these days? I still don’t know what happened the day I found Summer. I suspect it’s something involving her kids. But nothing unusual has happened since. Maybe I just couldn’t catch my breath after Summer fell on top of me? Mom tells me that her and Autumn would love to visit. But only after the Blue Moon, as Autumn has to go to the Representative’s Meeting. She also told me that my dad wouldn’t stray from the pack for safety reasons. Her subtle undertone tells me she is not happy about somethin
Summer’s POV I mind linked Alpha Jackson from the back of the royal guard's wagon. “I’m on my way to the edge of the territory. I don’t know much. I’ll try to keep you updated.” I told him before blocking everything out. I need to concentrate on what is going on around me. I jumped out of the wagon as soon as it stopped. Joining the men to putting on a waterproof suit. “What are you doing?” Rayne questioned me. What does he mean? What am I doing? “I may be needed. If he is injured or unconscious, it may mean his wolf is as well.” I snapped at him as I zipped up my suit. I just hope I can get close enough to stand his aura. He is the King after all. The more powerful the wolf, the stronger its aura. But if Rayne can withstand it, I am sure I can. We have the same genes, after all. We all put on an oxygen mask and carry a cylinder when we enter the wolfsbane mist. I am intrigued by how this was done. The chemist that created it is a genius. I can’t say I’m not nervo
Summer’s POV It was Rayne that stripped Nathan out of his clothes. He covered him with a sheet and wheeled the trolley through to us. As he was leaving, he told me he had left his underwear on. Elizabeth came into the theater a few seconds late. She stood at the edge of the room. As she could be helpful for a few bits. Just before me and Adam slid Nathan onto my table, Elizabeth informed me he hadn’t had any blood taken nor was he cannulated. I stared at her, but she couldn’t see my face through my surgical mask. I knew it wasn’t her fault or that anyone else could do it. I was more frustrated with myself. Why didn’t someone remind me before I scrubbed in? Elizabeth prepares me two cannulation trays and sends them my way. I hadn’t cannulated anyone for a while, but I couldn’t miss his veins if I tried. His arms were enormous, he had so many bulging veins. It would be hard to miss these veins. As the blood starts to fill the vials, Adam tells me he feels si
Alpha Jackson’s POV While we were entertaining Florence, the windows of the pack house shook. I thought I was going to have a heart attack. I ran outside and shifted to my wolf, Lewis. My pack was in danger. We hadn’t fought in years. But I am still the Alpha of this pack. We'll defend it with our lives, if necessary. Lewis raced to the edge of the territory where I shifted. The Royal Guard was there already. There was an unexplained fog that no one seemed to enter. I mind linked my Beta to bring Florence here. I knew the King was on his way and if the Royal Guard were there, he would have to be involved somehow. What I wasn’t expecting was to see Summer amongst them. I mind linked her to find out what was going on, she told me. “They were blaming the rogues for an attack on the King and that she had to go. She was needed.” She cut the link after that. Now I don’t particularly like Isaac, I have never hidden this. Isaac is more of a hands-on person, his people l
Beta Adam’s POV I knew that jackass was up to something. From the second he woke up this morning, he was restless. He jumped into his red sports car and shot off. He didn’t wait for me or the royal guards. Rayne is going to be pissed! I phoned the jack wipe and laughed at me, calling me a “slow ass and there was no chance of us catching him.” Of course, he was right, but only because of the head start he had. I had to run back to my room, get my stuff, and get back to the car. I have been his Beta forever. I should have known he was up to something when he hired that bloody sports car. Nathan and I have known each other since we were kids. I know all of his secrets, even the family secrets I shouldn’t know. He is just excited about seeing his brother. After all, he hadn’t seen Dawson for three years. I didn't go too fast. It was nice to be away from the palace. Making the journey quite enjoyable. That is until we got to a foggy area at the edge of Crystal Lake Pack.
