Summer’s POV It was Rayne that stripped Nathan out of his clothes. He covered him with a sheet and wheeled the trolley through to us. As he was leaving, he told me he had left his underwear on. Elizabeth came into the theater a few seconds late. She stood at the edge of the room. As she could be helpful for a few bits. Just before me and Adam slid Nathan onto my table, Elizabeth informed me he hadn’t had any blood taken nor was he cannulated. I stared at her, but she couldn’t see my face through my surgical mask. I knew it wasn’t her fault or that anyone else could do it. I was more frustrated with myself. Why didn’t someone remind me before I scrubbed in? Elizabeth prepares me two cannulation trays and sends them my way. I hadn’t cannulated anyone for a while, but I couldn’t miss his veins if I tried. His arms were enormous, he had so many bulging veins. It would be hard to miss these veins. As the blood starts to fill the vials, Adam tells me he feels si
Alpha Jackson’s POV While we were entertaining Florence, the windows of the pack house shook. I thought I was going to have a heart attack. I ran outside and shifted to my wolf, Lewis. My pack was in danger. We hadn’t fought in years. But I am still the Alpha of this pack. We'll defend it with our lives, if necessary. Lewis raced to the edge of the territory where I shifted. The Royal Guard was there already. There was an unexplained fog that no one seemed to enter. I mind linked my Beta to bring Florence here. I knew the King was on his way and if the Royal Guard were there, he would have to be involved somehow. What I wasn’t expecting was to see Summer amongst them. I mind linked her to find out what was going on, she told me. “They were blaming the rogues for an attack on the King and that she had to go. She was needed.” She cut the link after that. Now I don’t particularly like Isaac, I have never hidden this. Isaac is more of a hands-on person, his people l
Beta Adam’s POV I knew that jackass was up to something. From the second he woke up this morning, he was restless. He jumped into his red sports car and shot off. He didn’t wait for me or the royal guards. Rayne is going to be pissed! I phoned the jack wipe and laughed at me, calling me a “slow ass and there was no chance of us catching him.” Of course, he was right, but only because of the head start he had. I had to run back to my room, get my stuff, and get back to the car. I have been his Beta forever. I should have known he was up to something when he hired that bloody sports car. Nathan and I have known each other since we were kids. I know all of his secrets, even the family secrets I shouldn’t know. He is just excited about seeing his brother. After all, he hadn’t seen Dawson for three years. I didn't go too fast. It was nice to be away from the palace. Making the journey quite enjoyable. That is until we got to a foggy area at the edge of Crystal Lake Pack.
Summer’s POV I had no way of scanning or x-raying Nathan to check for internal injuries. I could only hope there was no organ damage or internal bleeding. I watched Nathan for any reactions to pain, letting his body tell me where it hurt. But he was pretty knocked out and didn’t respond very much. Rayne walked into the theater room. “Great, I could use someone competent that can get near him.” Still annoyed that my socks were soaked in urine. Elizabeth tried her best to dry the floor. But all around my operating table is still wet. Elizabeth threw Rayne some towels, and he started soaking up the urine. To be fair, none of Nathan’s wounds actually needed an operating theater, thank goodness. But we didn’t know that at the time and everything I would need was in there so I could patch him up. The operating theater is also a clean, private area where I could work. Which is exactly what I want to do right now. The first injury was a dislocated shoulder. Both me and Rayn
Florence’s POV “Can anyone other than Adam please find my kids? Please.” Are the words shouted by the Doctor. I am the only other person here, so it had to be me. “As long as you look after my boy,” I responded. Really, I want to be down there holding Nathan’s hand, letting him know I am here. But the doctor is doing her best to save his life. I have never heard of wolfs bane being used in aerosol form. I had heard that they had created an injectable version. But I never thought anybody would be stupid enough to use it. It could have fatal consequences. No doubt the only reason he is still alive is because he has royal blood in him. He could really use Dawson’s support and our special gift right now. In fact, he is supposed to be here. Where is he? My gifts are fading, and I suspect by the end of this Blue Moon, they will be gone. I feel like kicking myself for never declaring to the kingdom that I gave birth to twins. It was my ‘mates’ idea, though. It would gi
Summer’s POV We took Nathan to a recovery room after we finished suturing his scalp back in place. The blood results came back, and there was an extremely high dose of wolfsbane in his system. His body must be strong, very strong, to survive such a high dose. “What we really need now is for his wolf to regain consciousness and do his job and heal him. The only thing I can do now is to keep replenishing the intravenous fluids and get the wolfs bane out of his system faster.” I tell Florence, who is there, talking to him in a loving manner, stroking his hand. “Is there anyone you want me to contact, Florence? Other family members, friends. Siblings perhaps?” She looks at me. “No, there is no one. Just us.” “That’s a unique scar he has on his eyebrow. I have only ever seen one before. How did he get it?” I asked her, trying to figure out if this man is the person, I think he is. “As a child, he was abducted and held for ransom.” She looks so sad and kisses his h
Gale’s POV We had been traveling in our wolf's form for days and finally made it near Crystal Lake Pack. Dawson said we needed to be in this territory by morning, as he had someone to meet. Normally we just travel around, with no reason or purpose. But when it nears the Blue Moon, he knows exactly where to go. I don’t ask. Then he disappears for a few days. I don’t ask why or where he goes. I took the opportunity to relax for those few days. We set up a small campfire near a stream. We could get water for drinking and cooking. As well as washing. Once the fire was lit, the rabbit was cooking nicely. We sat and talked. Overall, it should be a pleasant night. We were making our beds, but then we both heard a wolf howling. I ignored it. There are always wolves howling from packs. However, Dawson simply stared in the direction it originated from. The wolf never howled again. But what I heard was one simple word. A word Dawson had wanted to say for the 7 years I have been
Summer’s POV Alexis didn’t really want to leave, she had been waiting to find her mate her entire life. But we had to get back to the kids. She ran to the clinic and shifted. “If we are quick, he may still be there when we get back.” I told Alexis. I hope he likes me as a human. Because Alexis really loved him. As soon as I enter the room to check on the kids, they wake up. I encourage them to get ready for the day, quickly. I plan on dropping by Nathan’s hospital room before I take the kids to the cliff. I tell the kids where I will be and to head down once, they are ready. They are still only young, but they want a small bit of independence. At least in the hospital, I will always be able to find them. I got to Nathan’s hospital room. There was a guard outside asleep on a chair. I walked past him, leaving him asleep, grabbing Nathan’s charts on the way in. It felt so wrong referring to the King by his first name, but it just rolled off my tongue. Floren
