Chapter Five – they left me on a curb

Together, my parents and I enjoy watching TV. Sheldon was our favorite show when he was young. The show is hilarious. My mother holds my head as I fall asleep.

As I hear my mother say, "Honey, you need to get to bed.".

I stand up and rub my eyes before walking to the stairs. I lie down on my bed when I reach my room. In my pocket, my phone buzzes. Apparently, someone texted me.

My friends have been asking about Nicolas and me several times.

The latest one was from Nicolas. "Hey, just checking to see if you made it home okay"

Yes, I did. "I asked my parents about who I am."

"What did they say?" Nicolas asks.

They know nothing, honestly. In the note they left on the curb, they kindly requested that their baby princess be taken care of. Besides the note, I also had a gold wolf necklace. Doesn't that sound strange? My parents abandoned me on the street. How could they do that?"

The more I learn about you, the more intrigued I am. Their mothers fiercely protected Wolf pups. Could you have been in danger? "I will let you know if I find anything"?

"Thanks, I appreciate it." I yawned and fell asleep. -unknown person-

"Sire, I have more information on your daughter."

"What is it?" He asks.

"Sire, there were other werewolves at her school today. They were playing soccer with their team. She seems to have taken a liking to one wolf. She is planning to go to their pack after graduation. What would you have me do?"

I hear it become quiet on the other end. He seems to think and then sire responds.

"I will call a person I trust in the council. I will have them make you a guest in that pack as a trainer. When she turns 18, her powers will come full force without training, she can be a danger to anyone near her. We will need to train her. Prayers to the Moon Goddess that William does not find her."

"Yes sire," hanging up our mental link.

The alarm rang off at 6 a.m. After tossing and turning since 5:00 a.m., the thought of my kind kept wandering through my mind. There was so much I didn't know. It was impossible for me to fall asleep. Seeing as I couldn't sleep, I picked up Nicolas.

Today is Saturday and our game is not until 1p.m. I park outside the hotel picking up my cellphone and calling an incredibly surprised and groggy Nicolas.

Laughing, I stated," Get up lazy bones! Come on down. I am outside." On the other end I hear some mumbling and then a yeah okay. Nicolas was down in my car within 10 minutes.

To tell the truth, when Alexi called, I was already awake. Tossing and turning had been a part of my sleep as well. My mind jumped from possibility to possibility about who her actual pack was. To give her a hard time, I pretended to be trying to wake up when she called. While I was showering, I made her wait. As I approached her car outside, she smiled sheepishly and waved.

I smiled back and jumped in on the passenger side.

She informed me we were setting out for a run this morning to her thinking spot.

After Nicolas jumped in the car, I headed towards my house. My parents leave at 7a.m. on Saturdays to go to Flea markets in the next town.

I had left them a note I was picking up a friend to go running and that I would see them at my game today.

When I arrive at my house with Nicolas, I run in with Nicolas trailing behind me. I have him wait downstairs while I run up to get the baby items that were mine when I was first left on the curb.

I wanted to show Nicolas the items. Maybe the necklace emblem was a symbol for something? I take the items downstairs and show Nicolas. He is just as confused as I am, so I put the items away.

We go into the backyard and shift. We leave our clothes by a tree, so they don't rip during the shift. I have his wolf follow me to my favorite place in the woods.

I look at Nicolas and ask him many questions. What exactly is a pack? When you say you are an Alpha, what does that mean? My wolf states to wait for the one. What is she talking about? Why do you think I shifted younger than a normal she-wolf? How did werewolves come to be? What is a rogue?

Nicholas laughs and tells me the story of how werewolves came to be. Moon Goddess fell in love with a jerk at first. Angry, she transformed him into a wolf. At first, he howled in anger, then in sorrow. As her anger waned, the Moon Goddess let the man choose between being a wolf or a man. He proclaimed his love for the moon goddess, and they have many pups together. The werewolves in this case are the direct descendants of the Moon Goddess (The line of the royals). Sadly, all those wolves were siblings, and humans were afraid to become werewolves' mates. The Moon Goddess took pity on her children, and this resulted in many more werewolves being created by the Moon Goddess.

Most werewolves descend from lines that did not become mates with the Royals. Having trouble finding a mate made werewolves unhappy. The Moon Goddess decreed each Wolf would find a soulmate made especially for her children.

Often, rogues are wolves that have been kicked out of a pack and have become dangerous and feral. A lone wolf can also be a member of a pack yet choose not to live on the land of the pack.

Essentially, a pack now comprises many werewolves who decide to live together in a community. Their pack leader (Alpha) is the head of their government/hierarchy. Genetically, you are an Alpha or you aren't.

Second in command to the Alpha is the Beta, then the Gamma. As in every society, there are many other titles and roles. Now the Royals are in charge of a large area of packs. They are the direct descendants of the Moon Goddess.

Besides Alphas and Royals shifting early, the rest wait until they are 15-16 or even older to shift. That's why you're a curiosity shifting into your wolf at 13, which means both of your parents were alphas or you're a Royal. Either way, your parents held influential positions. Unless they are dead or feel they have no other choice, they would not abandon their pup.

As a female wolf, you are a she-wolf.

I will give you some time to graduate, but then my dad, who is the Pack Alpha, will have to let the counsel know you exist. You will need to be trained to fight like a Werewolf and to know and understand Werewolf laws. You are also a White Wolf which is rare. I believe someone was hiding you in the human world to mask your scent. So somehow you are especially important.

Those are my theories. I look at Nicolas, staring; we need to get him back to his team. Also, after the game, they were having a school dance and asked him to come if their team had not left to go home yet.

Nicolas smiled a coy smile and stated, "You like me, huh?" I laughed and pushed him. "I am just being nice," I replied.

We (Nicolas and me) shifted back to our wolves. We darted back to my house and jumped over the fence and shifted. I walked Nicolas through the back door. My mother and father. Had come home early and looked at me in curiosity. I never bring friends home.

They look at me and ask, "Do you mind if you introduce your friend here to us?" I kind of laughed and introduced Nicolas from the Ravenclaw wolves' team.

My father practically choked on his water. He asked, "Hanging out with the enemy?"

I reply, "Weird, huh? But how else am I supposed to get their secrets? Although our team will beat them, regardless.

Nicolas clears his throat and introduces himself to my dad with a shake of a hand and states, "Sir, nice to meet you. Now I understand Alexi is nice. However, I am the Captain of The Wolves and we clearly we are the better team.," Nicolas smirks.

My father laughed and asked us how we became friends. I joke around and state that depends on who wins the game.

Nicolas smiled and stated is that why you asked me to tonight's dance? I retorted, "I didn't say with me. I was just being nice. I smirk. OK, listen dad I must take him back to the hotel so he can go with his team and practice. He is going to need it to beat us, but you know I doubt they can. Now Nicolas looked back at me and laughed and stated right back at you.

My mind is still plaguing my every thought, I like Nicolas more than I should, which is even more of a reason not to go with Nicolas back to his pack.
