The Meeting with Men

Renata, Sameeksha, and Hazel were sitting in the waiting area of the Ortho department waiting for their names to be called upon. Sameeksha knew everyone and was sure that the next name would be theirs.

Renata was looking left and right and observing people. Some had broken arms, broken legs, and even broken faces. She was the only one without any bandage around her body. She was feeling guilty. They needed attention not her, she was fine, but Sameeksha was not ready to listen. It was her hospital, and every nurse and doctor knew her. They were going to do what she said.

“May I?” Renata was in her thoughts when a young man came towards her walking with the help of crutches. Five men were around him dressed in suits. She could see the outline of the guns inside their pockets. A middle-aged man accompanied him. For some reason, he was smelling like coffee.

“Please, sit down,” said Renata and made some space for him on the long chair.

“Broken bones?” asked the young man.
