The sun had started to set as Tony and Dillon continued their trek. They weren't far from the trail they'd turn onto to get to the secret place. On the way, Dillon had kept his eyes peeled for pin-straight saplings to make into arrows. Every now and then, he'd stop, take the clippers he had in his backpack on Tony's back, and cut a particularly fine sapling. When he was satisfied with the approximate length, he'd put the sticks in the side pouch of his backpack.
As they walked on, Dillon regaled Tony with different stories from his childhood. It was appropriate, since that day ha
It was a short but somewhat strenuous climb to the rock pool above the waterfall. When they finally reached the top, they were both out of breath. Tony took off the backpack and set it on a boulder on the side of the pool as he gazed around in wonder. Dillon could imagine it would be a sight to boggle the mind. The sun had set to the point that it dyed the skies all sorts of golds, oranges, and pinks, and it cast a magical light on the surface of the water. The light that ricocheted off of the waterfall danced on the leaves of the trees and on the large rocks and tree trunks around them. Solar light wasn't the only source of light in the rock pool either. All around them, fireflies whizzed and hovered about, as they flashed their fluorescent green lanterns sporadically.
"T-T-Tony, f-fuck I'm h-hurt man. B-bad," Dillon stuttered out weakly. He'd managed to stand but he was afraid to move in any other way until Tony got to him."Shit- hold on, comin' now- hang in there," he replied as he turned around and slid down the stee
They made it over the bridge and saw that the pavilion with the bathrooms was a couple hundred meters away. Thank goodness, they had made it alright. There was absolutely no fuel left in his tank when they finally got to the pavilion, and he gasped in pain as he dropped down onto the bench of one of the picnic tables. When he had sat, it had caused his broken arm to jostle and it had him in tears instantly. Through his tears, he saw Tony look down at him with the most heartbroken look in his eyes. He wanted to help so badly, but he didn't appear to know what to do. That was ok, Dillon heard Kat and the others close in on them. They were still out of sight around a bend, but they were close. Tony shouldn't have to handle anything alone.
After what seemed like an eternity, Dillon could finally see the flashes of red and white that symbolized the arrival of the ambulance. At first, he was anxious for them to get there to help him, but at that moment, he was unexpectedly terrified. They would surely have to poke and prod at his poor broken arm and he'd have to go through another round of agony when they put the cast on. Only one other time had he experienced such pain, and he certainly was not anxious to feel it again. The ambulance actually pulled right onto the trail and they could hear it run over bumps and twig
"Hi, uh- I'm Tony. Dillon here's my best friend and his ma wants me to stick with him. She and his pops are on their way to the hospital," Tony explained amicably as Sandra looked up from her laptop."Ok, that's cool- I just ask that you stay seated and on that side during the ride."
Once Sandra and the driver had lifted Dillon down off the ambulance on the stretcher, Tony hopped off and followed them into the hospital with their things. It was a pretty quick affair to get him set up and into a room. Thankfully, the ER didn't look busy in the least. All the better for him, he'd be able to get his tests done quicker and potentially leave sooner. That is, if they didn't decide to keep him for the night. Sandra had mentioned he was concussed, and it was dependent on the results of a head CT scan to find out if it was bad enough that he needed observation.
August 14th, 2011: Sunday
For a few weeks after Dillon's initial injury, he wasn't down for much. He would still come over to Tony's on Friday and stay until Saturday or sometimes Sunday, but they didn't do anything outside of rest and recuperate. The thing Dillon struggled with most was the pain in his arm. It seemed to be constant and Tony wished he could have done something more to help. There was nothing out there that had ever made him feel so helpless as the sight of someone he loved in pain. The hospital and the doctors and nurses that tended to him did a good job on pain management. Every four hou
"Guh- 'atta boy, Dill! Choke on me!" Tony grunted. As he pistoned his hips, he held Dillon's head down. The air in his lungs had started to become laden with carbon dioxide, but he wasn't allowed up. Even if he
Back at the apartment, Dillon piled the stuff they brought up in the guest room. Since the guest bedroom was so very rarely used, it was the perfect storage space for their chairs, fold up tables, coolers,
"Look here," Dillon said softly and he gently turned Tony's face to look him in the eye. He'd looked away as emotion had threatened to overwhelm him. "I… can't change the past, but I can assure you of yer future. Tony, you'll
As the hand that gripped Dillon's right wrist tightened and pulled slightly, he groaned softly and took another breath. What were his options? The arm around his neck was a no-go, but if he could free his right arm, perhaps he'd have the leverage to flip him? If he could pry his thumb off, he could break his grip. 'Fuck! That's out too!' Dillon thought bitterly as he

"Good man, I'm glad to hear. I remember that day like it was yesterday. Such simple, innocent times, eh?" Tony yawned and gave a content stretch. Dillon could relate, his body was pleasantly heavy and his vision had a warm fuzziness edge to it, if that made any sense.
