Time flies really fast and truly waits for no one. I can’t believe today was my graduation. I am finally done with university. I am so happy that words can’t even describe how I feel. The graduation ceremony finished a few hours ago. I am with my whole family, celebrating this incredible achievement of mine. My dad, mom and all my siblings are here with Amina and her son. We are having dinner at a lovely restaurant.
"Now that you are done with university, my dear, do you plan to stay back like your brother or come back to Nigeria?" My father, Kareem, says as he takes a bite of his meal. His eyes are light brown, with pitch-black hair. He is 6 feet tall, with a fair skin tone, and a muscular build for a man of his age. His handsome face explains why my brothers are handsome too.
My elder brother, Abdulhakim, stays in New York and works as an architect. He is the second child in my family, and I am the third. He and Usman can pull off as twins just that
My legs take their own accord and start walking towards the exit of the airport. Please, Allah, save Ethan; I pray that nothing terrible has happened to him. I find an empty cab with ease and give the address of the hospital to the driver that I could remember Grace saying over the phone before it slipped from my palms. It takes a good hour before we get to the hospital and all the way my hands have not stopped shaking. They have been trembling in fear of what state Ethan might be in. I quickly step out of the cab and walk towards the entrance of the hospital. Ya Allah, please save him."Ple-e-ease I am look-k-king for-r—r Eht-tt-h-a-n Ma-nt-t-o-n-e," I say feeling myself shaking in nervousness and fear, which caused me to shutter. The nurse is about to speak when a voice beats her to it."Adina," Florence says, barely audible.I turn around to face her, and I burst into tears with one look at her. The beautiful deep grey eyes of hers that Ethan inherited
“Adina, the reason I believe you did not cheat on me was that I heard Austin and his mom talking about it. They did not know I was listening to their conversation. They were celebrating how successful they were in separating us, with you going back to Nigeria. That was also the reason I got into an accident.”“Wow, but I still don’t understand a few things. How does our relationship affect your stepmom and her son? Also, how did finding out the truth cause you to have an accident” I say, getting more confused by the moment.“I will explain when I found out the truth about you been framed by my stepbrother and his mom. I was devastated. I felt like the biggest fool on earth for not realizing they could do such a thing to me. My head was filled with so many thoughts that it was hard for me to think straight while driving, which led to my accident. And why they ruined our relationship is because they know without you, I can’t func
I can’t believe three months have gone by since Ethan and I had that dinner. Ethan is not back, and I don’t have an idea when he might get back. I still don’t know where he is, but at least I talk to him every day, and I know he is doing fine. Working at the company has taught me a lot about the business industry. I also found out a lot about Ethan’s family. I found out that Patricia is Mr. Federico’s secretary. This is why she is the first woman he fell in love with after his divorce from Florence. She was there to comfort him after his divorce, which led to him falling in love with her. I also found out why I have never seen Florence’s husband. He died a few years ago while at service. He was a soldier. I am getting ready to go out for lunch with Khloe. I am so happy she is going to be in town for a few days. After we graduated, Khloe moved to New York. I walk out of my office and take the elevator to the parking lot to be on my way.
I wake up to unbearable pain in my right shoulder. I adjust my eyes to get a good look at my surrounding. All the walls around me are painted white. There is a little couch in the room next to the window. Beside me there is a table and a chair, it has someone sleeping on it. The person's head is resting on the side of my bed, so I can't see the person's face. I look at what I am wearing, and it's a hospital gown. I suddenly recall why my shoulder hurts awfully. Alhamdulilah, I survived the gunshot. The person sleeping beside me suddenly moves in their sleep, allowing me to finally get a glimpse of their face. I am not surprised Ethan is the one sleeping here. He looks very peaceful while sleeping. He is the most handsome man I have ever laid my eyes on. I really missed him this past three months he was gone. Alhamdulilah, I survived the gunshot. I can't believe what would have happened to Ethan if I had died. He would have felt guilty all his life, Alhamdulilah, that did not happen.
I wake up to feather-like kisses on my belly. I gently open my eyes to be graced with the most beautiful grey eyes I have ever seen. I can never get tired of admiring these beautiful eyes of his. He stops kissing my stomach and graces those lips of his with mine."Good morning, honey," Ethan says, releasing me from our kiss. "How was your sleep?""Alhamdulilah, it was fine; what is the time?" I say, sitting up"It's noon; everyone would be here around three. You still have enough time to get ready.""Alright, I will take a shower and join you downstairs.""I will be waiting, my love," Ethan says, kissing my forehead and walks out.I carefully stand up from the bed and walk to the bathroom. I can't believe a year has gone by since Ethan and I got married. It still feels like yesterday he told me he converted to Islam. That day is one of the happiest days of my life. A lot has happened in our lives in the past year. Both Ethan an
I wake up to the sound of my phone calling the Adhan; I can't believe it's morning already. I get up to observe Fajr (morning) prayers and go back to sleep. I wake up a few hours later, dress up and go to the gym. I can't wait for this year to be over; I am finally going to be done with university. I am in my final year of studying software engineering at California State University, Fullerton.I am done working out; I walk back to my room, to wake up my roommate to get ready for school. I have a lovely roommate who is a good friend of mine. We met three years ago when we both arrived at the university, and ever since then, we have been friends and roommates."Hey! Wake up" I say tapping her"Do I have to go to school?" Khloe says still trying to get comfortable on her bed.Khloe is a beautiful brunette with green eyes. She is the same height as me; we are both 5'6 feet tall. She has a light skin tone while I am dark-skinned with dark brown ey
Today is another bright day, I did my morning routine, and I am on my way to class when the almighty annoying Ethan stops me on the way. “Thank God I caught you before class. I want to talk to you.” “What do you want this early morning,” I say and take a bite of my doughnut and sip a little of my coffee “You know Mr Jacob made us partners for the assignment. And you also know that there is no where on this earth, you and I can work together. I rather eat shit than work together with you” Ethan says with a lot of disgust on his face “The same goes here; I rather work with a mad man than work with you,” I say with the same disgust all over my face. I know I hit a nerve by comparing him to a mad man, which was what I was aiming for. “I will pretend I did not hear you compare me to a mad man and say what I came here to say. We both need to meet Mr. Jacob after class and convince him to change us as partners.” “As much as I don’t like to ag
It’s been two weeks since Ethan and I started working together or rather tried to work together with no progress. We still have not settled on anything for the assignment, and I have can’t believe it’s due in two weeks. I just finished performing Dhuhr (Afternoon) prayer, and I am getting ready for class. I did not have lectures in the morning; that’s why I am still at home. I put on my outfit, which consists of a black crop sweater with green plaid pants and black ankle boots. I am about to step out of the house when I receive a call from one of my loved ones.“As salamu alaykum” My elder brother, Usman says once I answer his call. Usman is 6’1 feet’s tall, has a solid build, with dark brown eyes, has a tan skin tone that he gets from my dad while I got my dark skin tone from my mom. My brother is a very handsome man.“Wa alaykumu salam.”“How are you doing sis,” U

I cried so much, I was scared my eyes were going to fall out. My heart was stabbed a thousand times that day. The next day came, and I tried to talk to Ethan but got cold shoulders from him. I did not give up; I plan to try my best to explain to him what really happened that day, no matter what it takes. I am waiting at the door of his lecture hall. I finished my classes earlier than him today, so I have enough time to spare. Ethan and I might be studying the same major, but we still have different minors, so all our classes are not together. The clock hits five, and his class is over. I wait eagerly and nervously to talk to him. "Ethan," I say, trying to stop him before he leaves like always. He does not answer and keeps walking. I increase my pace and step in front of him to block his path. "Ethan, please hear me out," I say, praying that he agrees. He tries to walk past me, but I block his way. He does it again, and so do I. "Get out of my way," Ethan says
I am waiting in the lobby when Khloe finally arrives. "I know I am late to pick you up, but I don’t think this face belongs to me," Khloe says, noticing the frown on my face. "It belongs to Ethan’s stepbrother, Austin. You won’t believe what that human being said to me." "One look at your face says you did not like what he said," Khloe says chuckling. "You can only imagine," I say walking out of the hotel. "You can tell me all about it over lunch," Khloe says while we wait for her car. "With pleasure," I say getting into Khloe’s car to be on our way to one of our favourite restaurants in town. We arrive at the restaurant and take our seats at the first empty table we come across. I tell Khloe what happened with Austin. She is also furious that he said such things to me. While we are eating, Khloe speaks up. "You won’t believe what Marcus did. He asked me to forgive him and take him back. " "He sai
A week has gone by, busy with preparation for exams. I am currently at Ethan’s place. We plan to spend the day together even though we see each other practically every day. I am in the kitchen with Grace, making lunch together. "Ethan, if you were a woman, I would have assumed you were giving birth up there. Why are you taking so long?" I say, making sure my voice is loud enough for him to hear me all the way upstairs. "I am done taking a shower; I will be there in a sec," Ethan says, screaming back downstairs. "Ever since I have known that boy, he has always taken so much time in the bathroom," Grace says, shaking her head while chuckling. "I wonder what he does in there; even a woman does not take as much time as he does." "I truly have no idea, my dear, and please excuse me. "I need to make a phone call." "Alright, take your time." "That’s because I want to look good for you, baby," Ethan says, whispering huskily into my ear
