Leon:

His question was one that I had on my mind since Lucy got back.

Could I really be okay with Lucy mating with both Seth and me? Would that be too strange?

Could I handle it?

I couldn't get rid of the feeling I had about her having some strong connection with Seth.

"If that's what she really wants, I don't think I could tell her no," I shrug at Liam's question.

Bandit hasn't spoken up much about it, but his calmness inside of me whenever Liam brought it up let me know he hadn't knocked down the idea.

Yet, at least.

"Man, are you losing your mind, Leon? What would the pack think about their Alpha sharing his mate with his Beta? You'd look weak!" Liam says, shocking me.

"Just like Dad was considered weak because Mom was a rogue? He didn't let that stop him from proving everyone wrong. Do you think I care? If Lucy is happy, then I'm happy," I scoff.

He shuts up for a moment, looking slightly ashamed from his outburst.

"Why would you want a mate that has feelings for someone else, L

Lucy:My heart was thumping dramatically in my chest."Who is the other mate?" Seth asks, still closing his eyes."Liam." His eyes shoot open and straight up to mine. His eyes are misted over, making me want to cry."No, they don't know yet. I'm going to speak with Alpha and Luna to figure out the best way to tell them both. Plus, I want to tell Leon about our kiss first. I'm scared," I admit to him."He won't reject you, Lucy. I know that's what you're thinking, but Leon is crazy about you. Who wouldn't be? Luce, you need to gain some confidence. All those things that happened to you don't have to be a part of you anymore. You have a home here, safety, and people who will love you if you let them," he says, taking my hand as I sob uncontrollably now. It's hard to believe what he was saying when I was raised to think I was worthless, but he was right. I needed to stop hating myself for what other people chose to do to me and start being the person I wanted to be."I can't say how Lia

Liam:As I suspected, Mom was with Cora and Lexi, among several other people. Everyone has taken Dad's announcement about the lake almost too well. It was a good thing they all had the Crescent Moon Festival to distract them from the chaos that's been happening lately. It had been many years since our pack had to worry about threats or anything like that.I lightly tap my mom's shoulder, and Cora and Lexi look behind her and at me."Mom, can we please talk?" I say softly, with a smile.I don't want Cora or Lexi to grow concerned by my demeanor, so I'm being as casual as I can be."Alpha or not, a boy always needs their mom," Cora smiles. She was right. Leon and I were close with both parents, but Leon tended to lean on Dad more, and I on Mom.Mom looks back at me with a smile, but I can tell she knows what I want to talk about. How could she not?"I'll be back in a while, ladies. If you finish the garland before I get back, you can start on the centerpieces for the tables," she say

Leon:I felt the tension immediately when both Lucy and Seth noticed I was there. After talking to my Dad, I felt so much better about my decision, but there was still some lingering doubt.'Just tell them now and get it over with,' B suggests.'No, I want to talk with Lucy in private first, B. You're getting way too ahead of yourself. Plus, I want to mark her and have a ceremony with just her and me first,' I explain. My Dad said we could plan the mating ceremony for after the Crescent Moon Festival, which was right around the corner.'What if she isn't ready to mate?' B asks.'She is,' I say confidently. She is definitely ready."You haven't seen her spar yet for one and two; she sacrificed herself to try and save me from Kragen," Seth says.Lucy moves away from Seth's bed as he makes this comment, looking visibly uncomfortable.I didn't know the details, but Lucy mentioned some of them at my Dad's office."Yeah. I need to get her on the field soon, don't I?" I ask playfully. After s

Leon:'You know she wants us, don't be stupid,' B encourages me.I'm still standing there watching her dry heave into the gutter next to the sidewalk."Lucy, it's okay," I finally mutter.I'm not sure I believe what I'm saying, but we have everyone's attention on the street now, and I need to stop the parade. She gasps for breath, finally reeling in her emotions before taking a drink of water. She swishes it in her mouth before spitting it into the gutter. She does this several times before straightening up her posture.Tears are silently falling from her eyes as she does this.I'm trying to feel anything but the rage that is festering inside of me."Who kissed who?" I yell, now trying to figure it all out. Before she can respond, I grab her arm and pull us into a nearby alleyway for more privacy. She yelps at the tug, and I regret being aggressive, but I'm pissed.Everyone seems to go about their night after I push my Alpha aura on them, letting them know I don't appreciate their nos

Leon: Lucy keeps her head down, not speaking or looking at either of us."No, no one died, now what did mom say?" I ask, wanting to change the subject quickly."Lucy, what's the matter? What is going on?" Liam asks, not wanting to give up on the fact that there is clear tension between Lucy and me.Lucy doesn't respond but instead grabs a menu and starts looking at it."Is this what I choose from?" she asks, making me realize that she had definitely never been to a restaurant before and that I was making her entire experience awful.Liam glared at me before scooting into his seat to sit more directly in front of Lucy."Here," he says, opening the menu to the back page and shows her where the drink section is."There will be a waitress here soon, so you'll want to figure out what you want to drink first. You're 18 now, so you could get a beer or a mixed drink if you wanted. This one is popular," he says, pointing to the margarita. She looks at him for a while before clearing her throat

Leon:"You should probably eat something little mate," I say, noticing her picking around her plate."I'm not very hungry," she says."How about some air hockey or pool?" Liam suggests."I've never played either of those, but I can watch," Lucy says, making my heart sink.I've lost track of how many drinks she has had at this point, but I can tell she is feeling them because she has loosened up a lot and is now a little clingy, which I love."No way! You have to learn eventually. We can play air hockey, that might be a little easier to learn at first. Leon gets a little too serious when we play pool," Liam smiles at Lucy. She looks at me as if for approval. I did not like that.'Goddess Leon, probably because the first time she is vulnerable with you and tries to be honest. Mind you, less than 24 hours after finally finding safety and almost being taken advantage again, you choose to yell at her,' B growls, getting angrier at me at each passing moment.'Wait what?' The way her voice screeched, it had likely woke up my parents. Why the hell is this she-wolf in the Alpha's wing of the packhouse? Especially at this time of night.'Oh no, this is going to be bad. Really bad,' Bo says.I watch as Lucy pulls herself away from Leon to look behind him.Leon looks at me and mouths "fuck" before turning to look at Savina stomping down the hallway towards us.I could see the fire flicker from Lucy's hands for a brief moment and got a deep rooted feeling that this was going to end very badly.Savina stopped in her tracks as Leon had turned around and she noticed Lucy."Since when did you become some player? Lucy:My entire night was like one giant rollercoaster of emotions.Telling Leon what had happened had nearly sent me into an anxiety attack. I knew I had to tell him. I couldn't have dinner with both my mates, Liam not even knowing I was his mate, with this big secret weighing over me this way.Several things became more apparent to me through the night.First, Liam and Leon may be identical, but they are polar opposites in personality.Leon had a sophisticated sense about him that made me feel secure and understood, but Liam, on the other hand, was sensitive and free-spirited. I was actually relieved to get to see this side of Liam without him knowing I was his mate.It eased some of my concerns.Liam was genuinely considerate of his company, mate or not.He made sure that I felt comfortable, and I adored him for this. He cared about how others felt in his presence. The waitress was a total hag to me, and he made sure I didn't have to continue to interact with her. He didn't miss

LUCY:As I was thinking about what I had said to Liam at the waterfall, I realized that the truth had only become apparent to me after I said it out loud. This acknowledgment started to make me nervous.Tricia is fidgeting nervously next to Sybil. "Sybil, you didn't answer Lucy's previous question. Who do we say our truths to?" Trish pipes us again before Sybil can answer my second question. We were both eager to understand the rituals of this pack.I know I need to get Tricia alone so we can talk; something is definitely up with her.Tricia is looking at Sybil with desperate eyes, waiting for her to answer her question."There is no science to it all, sweetie," Sybil responds, making Tricia's face fall. She was clearly uncomfortable with the idea of sharing secrets, and I couldn't blame her; I had felt that way for so many years."It's like magic, really. It was how I was able to open my heart fully to Leander," Sybil says, in a dream-like state. She looks off into space for a whil

LUCY:"What was that about in the dungeon? You seemed scared after we left," Trish asks as we head back to the packhouse.I wasn't sure how to explain to her what I saw, so I shrugged it off. "Mom calls it Dragon Eyes," Trish responds at random.I stop in my tracks and look at her. What is she referring to? The way my eyes shift?"Your mom could never do that, or at least I had never seen her do it. I was curious, and when I mentioned it to my mom, she said it's been many years since a Fae was gifted with that kind of magic," Trish smiles, looping her arm through mine as we continue walking. We were walking back from visiting the hospital. The girls were in high spirits. They loved the clothes that Liam had picked out. He really had the best taste. I was glad he was there to finish up their shopping because it really wasn't my thing.Tricia was excited about their marks but hadn't said much, which didn't surprise me as the girls were present, and Trish was very kept to herself abou

LUCY:As we get to the dungeon doors, I can't help but smile once again.I look up at the guards, who, based on their expressions, know exactly who I am now. It's not their fault they dragged me here at one point. They were only following orders.Once they bow their heads at me, the bratty waitress finally realizes I'm behind her."Ugh! You!" Fern rolls her eyes at me before turning around to face the guards again."Why can't she have visitors!?" she screams at the guards, who look at me for help."You'll see her tomorrow, Fern," I say calmly.I had no idea why my magic was in a key, but once it was within me, I felt just a little bit more at home. A strength had settled in me that felt like it was always mine.It was familiar, and I welcomed it."She isn't Luna yet. She doesn't get special privileges," Fern says, glaring back at me."If Alpha doesn't want visitors, then I suggest you listen," I respond. She doesn't hear a word I say. She pouts at the guards like it will make a differe

TRICIA: [Days Prior - Part 2]I've been walking around, following my mom as she grabs items she wants to take.I'm trying to be helpful, but she is being meticulous with everything she wants to bring. She sets a stack of books on the table and finally makes eye contact with me again after I had pressed her about the Aphirages. I place my hands on her shoulders, searching her face for answers."Mom, I have never questioned anything you've asked me to do or say. Why won't you explain what the deal is with the Aphirages?" I say, continuing to push her into giving me answers. She's never been protective of something the way that she is with the flowers; aside from a book, she's never let me get anywhere near it.Even as a sneaky child, she always somehow knew when I was trying to break into the lock that held it shut."I also have other questions, such as why you said Seth would certainly change the course of events for Lucy!" I added, feeling as frustrated as ever. She looked around the

It was clear that these meetings were typically much more productive.Leander looked somewhat defeated and didn't hold much eye contact with me during the process of everyone leaving."Alpha, I'm sorry for causing such a scene," I say as Leon holds me from behind.Liam is being nosey, rummaging through the box, trying to figure out what's mine.I can feel it in my heart each time he grabs it or touches it."What have I told you about formalities, Lucy?" he smiles at me before grabbing me from Leon's grip and hugging me.The hug didn't last long before Leon grabbed me back and pulled me to my seat, which he decided would be his lap."Alpha lineages typically have a gift. TRICIA: [Days prior]I snuck through the secret passageway my people had made hundreds of years ago to prepare for the transition. That's what they called it: the transition. To me, it was the separation of myself from my heritage. We were like prisoners of our truth and power. Hiding among the werewolf communities as simple shifters.Being at the Cresent Moon Pack felt like removing the bars to the cell that my mom had kept me in.I know she had only been trying to protect me my whole life while we worked to guide Lucy the best we could."Trish! What are you doing here?!" My mom's voice comes from her room as I enter the house."Mom! Things changed. The visions we had discussed are not all aligning as we hoped," I explain to her as she rushes to hug me.I look around our comfortable little home—the home I was raised in on the edge of the Silver Moon Pack. The majority of our neighboring cabins were also Fae. All of us are waiting to live free again."Sit, child, let me get you someth

LUCY:I'm not trying to be disrespectful. My questions were genuine even though everyone in the room looks like they disagree; except for Seth who holds the same smirk throughout my questioning. It's clear that I haven't been raised to believe in the process they're used to and clearly respectI wasn't taught the way everyone was in this room. No one want's to answer my question or make it seem as if they agree with where I'm headed in this conversation."Let me guess. The first son of each member takes their father's spot?" I ask, raising an eyebrow.Leander sighs. He doesn't like my line of questioning, either.Maybe I was bitter for Kragen rejecting me simply because I was a girl or maybe it's because what is taught as normal to them, never felt normal to me."Are you questioning the order of things, Lucy? It's no different than the first born of an Alpha taking over the pack. This is how we've done it for thousands of years. It has always worked," Leander says, with a half frown,

Her normal casual demeanor shifted after I pointed out Saul staring at her.She blew it off like it was nothing."You had a lot going on, Luce. I just wanted to get there and back. I knew you'd insist on coming with me, but I couldn't wait any longer," she responds, justifying her off-behavior. "I'll meet you at the conference room," Liam announces before kissing the top of my head and taking off with all the bags.I wondered if Seth would be there, which made me feel guilty. He was the Beta, so surely he would be there. It wasn't a terrible thing that I wondered, right? I think to myself, realizing I'm chewing the crap out of my nail.'You know what I keep saying,' Nia giggles.'Shush it,' I quip."I wish I had a wolf to talk out my thoughts with," Trish comments at random as we head to the conference room."I'll be your wolf," I say, trying to make Trish smile."A girl's night after this?" she asks. Her

We already figured that if she hadn't been out to eat, she likely had little to no experience in a shopping mall or outlet.'You're going to love what I found at the last store,' Liam links me.We were still getting used to sharing a link with Lucy. We were able to separate the two, but I knew we would have to be careful to make sure we were linking the way we intended.'Oh yeah?' I ask him as Lucy clings to my arm.She was right. Everyone was staring at her—more than even I had expected, but no one had done or said anything disrespectful yet.Liam stayed at the last clothing store we were at w
