LEON'S POV

I’m not entirely sure why but the second Tricia warped into her Fae light I trusted her. I took magic history classes very seriously. I’ve always been a believer that those who possessed magic were our real threat.

Pack leadership often focused on rogues and hunters but something in me always wondered about the magic societies and why they never tried to interfere with our packs. Was there something truly deviant at work?

Werewolves could be disruptive, and too many packs were still living in the old ways. Buying and selling slave rogues that they did unimaginable things to, capturing magical creatures to steal their powers or torture them. On top of that, a lot of the pack leadership members didn’t respect our Goddess’s gift to us.

I had heard many wolves had started to reject their true mates. Alphas and Betas were leading an example that cheating on our mate bond was acceptable if you were at a high enough rank.

The entire idea made me sick. I was known to enjoy a pretty she-wolf from time to time, but never would I cross the line.

Father understood that as young wolves we may try to cross boundaries, but he always made sure that we never crossed certain lines. For example. we never entertained a she-wolf that was mated, still held her innocence, and the obvious underage issue.

Not that he needed to instill the last moral, but he did make sure to address the topic. All of this aside, I still couldn’t figure out why I felt that Tricia held a safe space, magic being or not.

A sudden burst of sadness wafted over me as I worked through these thoughts. Lucy had been a rogue slave even though she wasn’t rogue.

Did that mean she had experienced some of the things I had heard about?

Why did I all of a sudden care about this? Don't get me wrong, I’m not heartless but our pack took in so many of these victims to free them from their lives that I stopped thinking too hard about it.

This was something up Liams alley and I was starting to get bothered by my thoughts.

“She will be okay” a gentle voice broke me from my trance. When I looked up Tricia had her hand on my shoulder and Liam was examining the photo she had given him.

I knew quite a bit about Fae when it came to textbook knowledge, but I was aware that Fae's existence hadn’t been documented from earlier years. They were very allusive and secretive.

The one thing that I knew for sure was the magic she was admitting was much stronger than that of a normal Fae. At least to my knowledge, maybe they were stronger than I had thought.

Liam was pacing around like a crazy person, flicking the picture back and forth. “She has magic, how can we even know this is real?” Liam questioned.

I grabbed the photo, and my eyes physically hurt when I focused on the picture. It was undeniably Lucy and Tricia. They were probably nine or ten, swinging together in unison.

They both looked happy. The one thing that stood out to me was that Lucy’s eyes were gleaming in a silverish tone as she looked over at Tricia.

I shrugged it off. It could be the lighting or the flash.

“It doesn’t feel like magic and when I smell it, there’s no magic scent brother. I think we should hear her out. She may be able to help and at the least, we can understand who the woman in our dungeon cell is,” I spoke with some bitterness because I couldn’t let Tricia see that she felt like our only hope of freeing some woman I didn’t even know.

Tricia walked over to me with a heavy sigh. “I swear you boys are hopeless. I told my mom it was all a waste of time, but she insisted that it wasn’t” Tricia spoke with authority as she grabbed my arm in a tight grasp flooding my memories with ones that I had never lived before. The memories linked straight to Liam who stiffened as they emerged clearer.

The room turned into a flurry as I focused on the current memory. I could tell that I was seeing the memory from someone else's eyes.

“All that you are is a filthy curse!” a voice boomed in the room. I looked over frantically, preparing myself to fight back when I saw the outline of a small frame through the slats of the door in front of me.

I focused harder blinking my eyes when a girl held her pointer finger to her mouth signaling me to not speak. I looked around at the darkness I was surrounded by before focusing back on the scene in front of me, trying my best to see through the openings of the slats.

 What. The. Hell.

I was completely exhausted the entire day, and by the time my body reached the bed, I had passed out. I couldn't be sure if I had covered myself at some point or if Seth had. I doubted the second scenario, as Seth had been very cold towards me since he snuck me out of the pack house. "Yes," I said without hesitation, but my stomach churned at the honesty I was speaking."Seth, I will speak truthfully, anything you ask me, but I need you to promise that you won't tell OUR Alpha any of this. I understand you cannot lie to him if he asks you directly. However, I would like the opportunity to speak my truth to him myself. I owe him that much. Can we agree on that?"
