TRICIA: [Days prior]

I snuck through the secret passageway my people had made hundreds of years ago to prepare for the transition.

That's what they called it: the transition. To me, it was the separation of myself from my heritage.

We were like prisoners of our truth and power. Hiding among the werewolf communities as simple shifters.

Being at the Cresent Moon Pack felt like removing the bars to the cell that my mom had kept me in.

I know she had only been trying to protect me my whole life while we worked to guide Lucy the best we could.

"Trish! What are you doing here?!" My mom's voice comes from her room as I enter the house.

"Mom! Things changed. The visions we had discussed are not all aligning as we hoped," I explain to her as she rushes to hug me.

I look around our comfortable little home—the home I was raised in on the edge of the Silver Moon Pack.

The majority of our neighboring cabins were also Fae. All of us are waiting to live free again.

I place my hands on her shoulders, searching her face for answers."Mom, I have never questioned anything you've asked me to do or say. Why won't you explain what the deal is with the Aphirages?" • The Alpha's Secret Daughter   1 - My Dad Is a Murderer

LUCY'S POVThe realization that I would be turning 18 soon spread internal dread throughout my body. Turning 18 was typically magical for us werewolves. We could finally scent out our mate—our soul mate, our “Goddess-given” true love.If we are being honest, the thought made me gag. That last thing I needed or wanted was a mate.Thankfully, I was able to get my hands on a descenter. When used, my scent went neutral, giving a slight, earthy aroma that would allow me to go undetected without any alarm bells ringing. When I was 14, my Alpha father killed my mom in cold blood. She was his true fated mate. She was the most selfless, loving she-wolf, giving to others without considering what she would gain in return. My father, on the other hand, was greedy and controlling. He hid me from our pack my entire life. I wasn’t allowed to leave the pack house, and he never claimed me in front of any pack member. When my mom was pregnant with me, he relocated her until my birth so that no one wou

  • The Alpha's Secret Daughter   2 - Alpha Leander Knows Something

LUCY'S POVWas he trying to humiliate me? He was normally very kind to me and treated me far better than any previous Alpha. My previous pack was the Red Paw Pack, and I swore they were named from all the unnecessary blood they had on their paws. They were ruthless. They often beat me; the Alpha raped me the first night and several times afterward until he found his mate and sold me to Alpha Leander. “I’m grateful to serve you, Alpha.” This wasn’t a lie; I was grateful to no longer be a part of the Red Paw Pack. There was no deceit in my eyes as I spoke these words, and he nodded at me curiously. Nia, my wolf, was stirring in the back of my mind from the odd interaction. 'He knows something, Lucy,' Nia whispered to me.I feared she was right. When I looked back toward him after finishing refilling everyone's glasses, he was looking at me again. His eyes flickered yellow briefly before he turned back to his guest and resumed his conversation. I stood a few feet back from the t

LUCY'S POVOf course, I couldn’t tell him the truth. I couldn’t go back to my pack, hell, I didn’t want to. It was a death sentence. “I was orphaned as a baby to a human family. I ran away when I found out what I was. I have no idea what pack I belong to, Alpha. I’m content with serving you. I have no desire to find my real pack.” The lie flew out of my mouth without hesitation. I was used to telling small white lies, but this one was far bigger than any others. Seth was eyeing me from the side of the room. He was on the couch going over some files. He was acting busy, but I could feel his eyes on me now and again. Leander narrowed his eyes at me for a moment. “Are you sure? You should have a pack marking on your wrist, but I don’t see any. That’s odd, don’t you think?” Leander says, obviously suspicious. So now he is asking real questions, more topics for which I wasn’t prepared. As an Alpha heir, my pack mark was above my chest, covering the skin above my heart. I was thank

LUCY:I'm not trying to be disrespectful. My questions were genuine even though everyone in the room looks like they disagree; except for Seth who holds the same smirk throughout my questioning. It's clear that I haven't been raised to believe in the process they're used to and clearly respectI wasn't taught the way everyone was in this room. No one want's to answer my question or make it seem as if they agree with where I'm headed in this conversation."Let me guess. The first son of each member takes their father's spot?" I ask, raising an eyebrow.Leander sighs. He doesn't like my line of questioning, either.Maybe I was bitter for Kragen rejecting me simply because I was a girl or maybe it's because what is taught as normal to them, never felt normal to me."Are you questioning the order of things, Lucy? It's no different than the first born of an Alpha taking over the pack. This is how we've done it for thousands of years. It has always worked," Leander says, with a half frown,

He was the Beta, so surely he would be there. It wasn't a terrible thing that I wondered, right? I think to myself, realizing I'm chewing the crap out of my nail.'You know what I keep saying,' Nia giggles.'Shush it,' I quip."I wish I had a wolf to talk out my thoughts with," Trish comments at random as we head to the conference room."I'll be your wolf," I say, trying to make Trish smile."A girl's night after this?" she asks. Her

We already figured that if she hadn't been out to eat, she likely had little to no experience in a shopping mall or outlet.'You're going to love what I found at the last store,' Liam links me.We were still getting used to sharing a link with Lucy. We were able to separate the two, but I knew we would have to be careful to make sure we were linking the way we intended.'Oh yeah?' I ask him as Lucy clings to my arm.She was right. Everyone was staring at her—more than even I had expected, but no one had done or said anything disrespectful yet.Liam stayed at the last clothing store we were at w
