Zara's POV.

Picking up my bags and taking a walk to the border was not as interesting as I thought it would be. One of the reasons I was a little bit worried for myself was because there was nothing to do.

Mia and Ava were pretty worried sick for me, but I kept on telling them that it was nothing, but they didn't want to believe it.

"Why do you just want to leave? You can always tell Noah, he will fight for you no matter what. You cannot allow yourself to be pushed into doing something that you shouldn't be." Ava said, her eyes flickering with concern as she looked at her friend.

"I don't think that that's going to be a problem. I don't want to cause any issues. If staying away is going to allow me to figure out a few things on how to ensure my parents get justice, I might as well take it."

"I think you've been getting everything wrong from the beginning, and that's a problem, but even at that, you still have to be careful. I don't want you to get into trouble." Ava said placing a concerned hand on my shoulder.

As much as I wanted to agree with them, I had to decline because I knew what I wanted, and this wasn't it. I needed someone or something to tell me the truth and how I was going to work to make sure that things fell in place.

"I need you to promise me something. I need you all to promise me that you won't inform the boys that their mother chased me away. If you do, they will fight her, and then I'll even land more trouble."

They look at me with conflicting emotions in their eyes before moving slightly. As much as I wanted to dwell on whatever the issue was, I decided to be the bigger person and move on.

If I kept on dwelling on what-ifs, I was going to ruin everything. I was going to ruin the very thing that would make me happy. I had a lot of things to do, and quite honestly, sitting and hoping that somebody was coming to save me wasn't part of my agenda.

"I'm going to miss you. You deserve love and ample opportunities to explore whatever could be. I don't like the fact that you are giving up so easily. This isn't how things are supposed to be." Ava burst into tears as I hung my duffle bag.

I patted her on the shoulder slightly refusing to be put down because of a minor issue. I could always deal with this.

It's only a lot of time before I finally come to terms with whatever I have been going through.

"You've got to stop making me feel bad. It's just a phase, and I will be out of it before you can say Jack. I hope you and I don't have to fight about that. Please do not inform any of the men of what happened because it's going to cause more issues." I reiterated, giving them a warning look.

They should their hands in compliance, before moving away, hiding in the shadows, as I proceeded.

Unbeknown to them, I had a plan; I had no intention of allowing that woman to make my life miserable. I was going to show them the stuff I was made of but the only way to do that was to stoop and conquer

As soon as I got to the middle point that led out of the pack, I swiveled, catching a scent lurking in the air.

I wouldn't be surprised if Selene sent people after me just to teach me. I dropped my bag, which contained the book that I had been given.

They didn't need to have any idea of how important it was to me.

I turned just right in time to see two men coming out of the shadows with their hands behind their backs.

Melancholy filled the air, as I watched them approach. "You were ordered to leave before daylight. Why are you still here?"

"I'm already on my way out feeling it I don't think I should disturb any of your activities," I responded in the most calm voice I could muster.

I had probably stopped fearing anyone because now I was no longer a slave. I just needed to accept the bond between the men and become Luna.

They looked at each other for a minute before bursting into laughter. "Can you hear that? She probably thinks we're here to joke with her. It's a lot if you ask me." One muttered.

As much as I wanted to get mad at her or anything. I was just a little tired of what this might mean to everyone who had the opportunity to hear this. "What do you want?" I demanded.

"We want you gone."

I raised an eyebrow, "I'm on my way out."

They burst into laughter, mocking me from the bottom of their hearts. "Yeah, right. You're so naive. It'll make the job easier."

They high-fived before bringing out a dagger.

Something flashed in my eyes.

Silver.

"Oh, really? Is that what I think this is?" I asked again just to be sure.

"You were asked to kill me by the Luna weren't you?" I demanded, "and you blindly came to carry out the stupid job. How would you feel if you were in my shoes?"

"Are you talking to us you brat? Ever since you got claimed by the alphas you have become pompous. Is that your way of apologizing for making the Luna upset?" The man with the shaggy hair hissed, advancing with his shoulders almost touching his head, huffing slightly.

"You are working against the rules of this Pack. You are not supposed to hurt anyone except you have good reason. Possibly treason." I spat.

"Oh, I see where this is coming from." I pointed behind them.

They fell for my trap and turned, and I bolted.

"Grab her!"

The late afternoon sun cast long shadows across the great hall as I arranged the final decorations for tonight's ceremony. My hands trembled slightly as I hung the last of the silver and blue streamers, my mind still reeling from the morning's revelations. The mate bond thrummed beneath my skin like an electric current, making it impossible to forget the three alphas who now dominated my thoughts."A little higher on the left, omega," Selene's cold voice cut through my concentration. I adjusted the streamer, biting back a retort. Even now, hours after discovering her sons were my mates, she treated me like a servant."Yes, Luna," I murmured, though the title felt strange on my tongue. Would I be expected to call her "mother" now? The thought made my stomach churn."The caterers will be here in an hour," she continued, her perfectly manicured nails tapping against her phone screen. "Try not to get in their way."I nodded, watching her stride away in her designer heels. Nine years I'd l

My hands trembled as I arranged the last of the champagne glasses, trying desperately to avoid catching the triplets' heated gazes. "And try not to embarrass us tonight."I bit back a retort, focusing instead on the delicate crystal stems before me. The irony wasn't lost on me - serving at my own mates' ascension ceremony. No

I don't care what information you have about my parents' disappearance or death," I spat, backing away from Noah's intense gaze. My hands trembled but I forced steel into my voice. "And mind you, my parents aren't dead. I was told they left me. I made a vow to find out what happened, and I will do it myself."The moonlight streaming through the stairwell windows cast harsh shadows across Noah's face as he took a step toward me. "Zara, please-""Keep your information to yourself," I cut him off. "Not that you care. None of you get to use information about my parents to manipulate me."My voice cracked on the last word, but I lifted my chin defiantly. "Watch me as I find out about anyone involved in this. I don't care if it's people close to me. I will crush them all."Noah's expression softened, though his eyes remained intense. "We're not trying to manipulate you, Zara.
