Chapter eighty seven THOMAS POV After I yelled at her Jessica immediately stiffened as if she was a statue and could not even meet my eyes just then she burst into tears and I was so disgusted because her tears were obviously fake and just for attention. “My prince, why are you always so mean to me like this when all I ever tried to do is be close to you can't you ever reciprocate my feelings for once?” I don't even know why I'm still entertaining this attitude of hers, a mumbled out an apology from the corner of my mouth as I was about to leave her she suddenly grabbed my hand and held it firmly, and out of shock, I stood still. “How heartless of you my prince even when you see me and yet you are still ready to just abandon me just like how that woman is ready to abandon you for another man..." It was as if the ground beneath my feet that moment was about to shatter so with that she had grabbed my attention and I looked at her, was something that was almost sinister a
BRENDA'S POVEven as I rested my head on the windscreen of the car I could feel his heavy gaze on me; occasionally strolling over from the road to come and rest on me again after a while. It gave me the skin-crawling feeling as was always being watched even if he knew that I was no longer-for now- physically capable of running away he was still insistent on keeping both eyes on me.In the end, I was not able to catch a single wink of sleep in the car because it felt as if I was being x-rayed with every moment that passed, and I knew that he was probably not going to stop if I didn't complain about it so I finally turned over and stopped pretending to be sleeping to address him.“you know, doctor, it is already dark if you don't keep your attention on the road we might both end up getting hurt..”I explained to him calmly as I fiddled with my seatbelt hoping that he would not take offense.“It is not my fault that I keep getting distracted by your beauty...”It was as if slime had been
THOMAS POV“My prince, I'm sorry to see this for what you are doing is not appropriate at all. There are protocols you have to follow, there are duties that you have to attend to, you can't just go like this...”I had expected the elders to get in my way, that was no surprise at all. Which is why I was quite prepared for them. It would have been off if I did not show any reaction to Brenda's disappearance and they would begin to speak to me on negligence, but then it would have been even more strange if I had actually gone out of my way to find her.“What is not appropriate? I want the funeral to be done quietly and quickly..."Of course I could not go without burying the dead, and I would hold a more formal one when I come back, from the looks of things the doctor had become shamelessly fond of my mate and he's only concern would probably be to get her as far away as possible, as soon as possible. So for now I did not have to worry for her life or her health but rather the fact that
BRENDA'S POVSleeping that night was a total nightmare. The doctor had been kind enough to let me have the bed while he slept on the floor, yet he would occasionally get up and walk around the room and his eyes would come over to me.It was hard to keep my eyes shut when he was taking my body like leaves in fall, and he would not do it for a couple of seconds and just walk away and keep his eyes on me for several minutes as if it was glued on me. After a while he would go back to sleep on the floor where he was sleeping before.Apart from that the walls were as thin as paper and I could easily hear the sounds of screaming heated arguments and shattering glass. What kind of place had he taken me?Morning finally came and not a moment too soon I wanted to get away from this place as soon as possible but then as I was about to go into the bedroom I saw the doctor still there with me.“I can't leave you alone...”He said with that wide-eyed look that had been creeping me out since last ni
THOMAS POV“... And of course I called her out there was no way her story was true...”As Jessica continued to blab and blab, and wondered how long I would have to endure this before I would finally snap, even though I did not give her any reaction other than an occasional “hmmm“ or “okay“ she did stop going off like a complete chatter box that just wouldn't go off.We were now at the airport, and I was wondering if it would have been better to have dealt with the elders instead of using her lie to my advantage, but I had recently discovered that making bad decisions that often worsened the situation was becoming a regular habit of mine.”So my prince...where are we going?I reasoned that this question seemed reasonable enough to answer; and I did not know when she was going to ask something like this again.“We are going to a beach resort.“I said to her hoping that the conversation would not drag on more than this, but of course it did.” My Prince you don't really mean it a beach r
BRENDA'S POVAfter a while, Doctor Drake came into the room with a serious look on his face, it was as if he was not even aware that I was in the room anymore as he began to pace around the room. After a few moments the serious look on his face faded as quickly as it came and his face was covered in a smile that gave me the feeling of a spider crawling up my shoulder, he looked at me as if he had just discovered my presence in the room.“You are probably wondering about what I would be thinking about right now, right?”He said to me as his fingers ran through my hair, I could not help but shift away a little. I could clearly see that this was not left unnoticed by him, but all he did was bite his bottom lip and then he tilted my chin so that I would face him.“Come on, ask me, ask me what I was thinking about, you are curious, aren't you?"Then my eyes fell to the floor. It was as if he was tricking me into saying something that would spark him off.I fiddled with my fingers.” if you
BRENDA'S POV“Is there any particular reason why we have to go so late in the night?"I asked Dr Drake for the thousandth time. After we were finally out of the creepy motel. I thought that things would be much better, that we would quickly find the market, get what we needed and then be out of there. But however the total opposite was the case; things were still going to be hectic and long after this and that was just so troublesome. Dr Drake did not seem worried at all, though fortunately for me he was not making any more blunt and embarrassing advances at me as before, and I was able to breathe a little better but then things started getting hectic again when after driving for a long time he parked into some bushes saying that this was where going to sleep for the night. At that point, I prefer very much to sleep in a creepy hotel than to sleeping outside bare to rogues that could be creeping around. But it seemed like I was the only one who was actually worried about this. Dr Drake
BRENDA'S POVThe engine of the car began to cough and splurt, until it finally died leaving the car between two trees, my eyes were still heavily weighted by the starvation of slumber. However I kept battling with it, constantly turning on the car seat with discomfort until he finally tapped me until I was fully awake.“We are finally here and I would like to hear your decision, Brenda.” He said to me in a robotic voice looking ahead as the glow of the moon brushed across his face, creating hard shadows that made him even harder to look at so I allowed my eyes to fall down to my folded fingers.“if you decide that you don't want any of this and you want to live the rest of your life as a cripple, then I will take you back to the hospital and never speak to you again, I'll pretend as if you don't even exist.. but..”A cold shiver washed across my entire body as if I had just been splashed with water when his fingers slipped over to my thigh.“I want to tell anyone that you were ever i
