Zoe
I woke up feeling groggy. My throat felt parched and I reached out to grab the glass of water on the side table.
Taking a sip, I put the glass back then it hit me… where did the water come from?
I jerked up my upper body into a sitting position and the white comforter fell off my chest it was strange but it had James’s scent on it. I picked it up and sniffed. Mmmmmmmm…...his scent was strong, more like he had slept here.
Looking up I was taken aback by the dual fireplace opposite the bed. The other side seemed to have a sitting area with white couches.
A styled rug was placed near the bed and the rest of the floor was tiled.
This wasn’t my room. I gasped and cupped my mouth with the palm of my hand. Did I leave with a random dude last night? We ended up in his room and had a night of passion?
A big portrait on the wall next to what I assumed was the bathroom caught my attention. James, looking like a Greek god was featuring
Thank you for reading ❤️❤️.
James A few days had passed and I tried my best to avoid Zoe. I even let the creep, Thomas follow her around since her father trusted him. It was cowardly of me to run away like this but taking her as a mate wasn’t an option. What if she was just using me to forget that Duncan guy? The name itself, left a bitter taste in my mouth. I slouched in my office chair suddenly feeling tired. A game or a swim would help me unwind and relieve the stress. Deciding to go for a late night swim. I got up after switching off and closing my laptop. Walking towards the door, I opened it and stepped outside. Quickly climbing the stairs heading to the third floor. Once there, I went straight to the pool room on the far end of the hallway. Opening the door, I entered the pool room but before I could go in further. I heard the sound of water splashing. Someone’s here. I went on high alert masking my aura as I moved forward b
Zoe I didn't get the chance to meet James so that I could accept his rejection. He was doing a great job avoiding me. I Heard from Lewis who I met when he was leaving James's office with some documents that he was working from the office at the pack house. Deciding to stop looking for the lost alpha, I recruited Tiffany into spending time with me at the indoor swimming pool. She was my guest so as a VIP guest I could invite my guest over right? Yeah, well, I would do what I want anyway.... We were sitting on the loungers on the balcony, clad in matching yellow sundresses, chatting away. "So can you tell me what's really going on between you and Alpha James?'' Tiffany asked with a raised brow as she stirred her mango juice with a straw. "C'mon, I always share stuff with you... it's not fair that you're holding out on me," she complained when I just shrugged. "There's nothing to share... I would tell you if there was something
James I was very determined to avoid Zoe after I found myself having 5 cold showers the night I met her in the indoor pool room. She was messing with my senses, I saw myself giving in to her slowly and if I wasn't careful, I would admit defeat soon. Not that it mattered anyway, I had been losing to her since the day I met her and discovered that she was my mate. But she had the Duncan guy in her heart. It hurt to know she was yearning for another man. Perhaps the love was too strong for her to still think and dream about him even with the mate bond between us. To protect myself, here I was in my office at the pack house just to avoid bumping into her accidentally back at the mansion. Tyler had been ignoring me lately. He was pissed that I was pushing away our mate. But what did he know? Just finding a new mate, he forgets all the pain we've been through due to those rejections and he's already wrapped around Zoe's finger. Indeed, he was an animal. 'I don't think there's anyth
Zoe The next day, I had woken up earlier than normal. My wolf and I couldn’t wait to kick Anna’s ass. Ok yeah, it was going to be a friendly match but how do you beat someone up in a friendly way? It doesn’t make any sense. Either way, there’d still be bruises or broken bones, even blood…. Nothing friendly about that. I only wanted to wipe that smug look off her face, what was there to be so smug about anyway? Because she had fucked the mighty Alpha, could that be considered an achievement? Typical of whores. ‘Why do I smell bitterness and jealousy?’ Chloe said out of the blue and I scoffed. Didn’t she say she would sleep for a week because she was sexually frustrated? Thinking of what happened yesterday, anger flared up inside of me. How dare James play mind games with me….. I had felt over the moon when he scooped me up into his arms and carried me out of the basement. His body was so warm, I couldn’t help but press myself fu
Zoe All Chloe saw was red and she wanted to rip Anna apart limb from limb. With a slight leap, I lunged at her aiming for her neck as she stood frozen, her eyes widening from shock and her heart was racing erratically. Scared now? Good. My wolf preyed on fear… I was ready to sink my canine teeth in her neck and rip her throat out when a figure stood in front of me in a flash and I sank my teeth into his neck instead. From the tingles and sparks, I knew it was James but he didn’t struggle. Instead he ran his hands behind Chloe’s ears and she purred. Seriously? “It’s okay, I’m here now..” he said soothingly. “Give back Zoe control, we are in public,” he whispered and she immediately obliged. I shifted back but my canines were still embedded in his neck, I retracted them and unconsciously licked the wound.. Fuck. The sudden rush of emotions I felt at the moment that obviously didn’t belong to
James It had been 7 hours since Zoe lost consciousness and she was yet to wake up. My wolf and I have been on edge since then. Venting my anger out on anyone I laid my eyes on. I was angry at myself for almost causing her death. Why did I let her have a friendly match with that snake? It was my fault… I thought Anna would at least try to be rational. But she clearly was too far gone in her ambitions to see the big picture. Having pack members fight with my guest would cause a rebellion. I would have challengers wanting to compete for the Alpha position. Not that I would lose, but it could dismantle the pack. A pack that was not united was bound to fall apart. I wonder where it all went wrong for Anna. She used to be a sweet innocent girl. Despite being an orphan, she always had a smile on her face. The five of us used to be best buddies. Lewis, Jericho, Dean, Anna and I. Until, because of an unfortunate incident, Dean,
James I fucked up real bad. In my quest to living mateless, I ended up hurting the one woman who fucking wanted me. It was the first time she showed her emotions and it fucking hurt that I was the cause of her pain. The lines etched on her forehead when I mercilessly told her I hated her were proof of the anguish she was going through. I didn’t mean it when I said I hated her; I just wanted to push her away because mates were not my thing. I stopped believing in them years ago. No, to be more accurate, I despised them. Now she was ignoring me big time. It’s been 2 weeks since I last saw her. She didn’t even let me get a glimpse of her hair. Heck, she was spending time with Lewis and Jericho now. Remembering that day when I messed things up, my heart squeezed painfully. ~Flashback~ “What do you mean? I…. I …” Zoe paused then chuckled nervously. “ I don’t even know what to say.” “I came here thinki
Zoe My heart was racing as James’s hand held my neck in a tight grip. Anger and hatred were evident in his eyes. It was almost as if he could snap my neck at any moment. But I wouldn’t back down, not now, not ever. He could kill me for all I care. Despite the situation, I couldn’t miss the way tingles and sparks coursed through me as he gripped my neck and pressed his body on mine. Ignoring the tingles, I glared at him. “What are you waiting for? A whistle blow?” I sneered as his expression darkened. “Don’t try my patience woman,” he spat, his hot breath fanning my face as he had leaned in closer. The grip on my neck loosened and he placed his palms on the wall, caging me in his arms. Now what was he up to? “You think you can reject me? I rejected you!” He sneered and my stomach twisted, my chest felt heavy… like a boulder was placed down on it.. the feeling was so suffocating. “It doesn’t matter… I didn’t agree, only m
Hi lovely readers. For those that have read this book till the end, thank you so much. I appreciate your support. For those still reading it, I would like to notify you that I'll be merging this book with book one, The Alpha's Rejection. You can still continue reading the book by checking the chapter title you left it at. And if you do happen to read the Alpha's Rejection when you've already read this one, do not read past chapter 50 because that would be the beginning of the Beta's Turmoil. Thank you so much for reading my work. I hope I keep bringing out content that would be worth your time. With love, Natie.
THREE YEARS LATER Lewis It was funny how time flies. One minute you’re a child and the next, you’re an adult who’s responsible for yourself and other people. In my case, I was a mate, a beta and a brother and a soon-to-be father. That’s right, Ariana and I had our wedding 4 months ago and now she was carrying our pup. A boy. She was the most beautiful bride I had ever seen and on that day, when she said I do, it was one of the best days of my life that I’ll cherish forever. The last three years have been nothing but blissful. Life was great. We would have problems here and there but nothing that was not solvable. After all, this is real life and not everything can be perfect. Alpha James and Zoe left on a honeymoon tour a month ago and left their pups in our care. They were living with us at our mini-mansion that I built for Ariana and I and boy, they were a handful. We had a nanny for all four of them. Matteo, Alpha James’ baby brother thought he was his brother’s son
Ariana I’ve been living in the blackmist pack for three months now and I can attest that it’s much better than the human town. I liked it here. At first, when I learnt that werewolves exist I thought they would be primitive and living like cavemen but they surprised me by being more modern than ordinary humans. The pack was designed like a small town. It had shopping malls, residential homes and a large packhouse where the majority of the wolves stayed. Mostly unmated ones stayed there. Despite the modern setup, the flora and fauna were not tampered with. We were still surrounded by a big forest. On full moon nights, we would go for pack runs which were led by the Alpha and Luna. And then most times, I would go on a love run with Lewis, my mate who had been nothing but lovely ever since I settled here. The only thing I missed from the human town was my aunt Judy. “Can you get me another dress? Where’s the red one I chose earlier? I look good in red.” Zoe asked one of the o
Lewis I ditched the car and ran to the orphanage since it would be faster that way. The Alpha had already begun running back to the pack after I called him to tell him his Luna had gone into labor. Taking off my clothes, I shifted and carried them in my mouth then I began to run as fast as I could. From the way Ariana kept poking into my mind every second, I knew she was freaking out. ‘Dr. Anthony prepare the Luna’s VIP ward she’s in labor.’ I mind-linked the doctor at the pack’s hospital. ‘What? That’s too soon. I’ll work on it right away.’ I continued to rush forward with Wesley in the lead. Being a beta wolf, he wanted to protect his Alpha’s pups. ‘Lewis! Hurry! I can see a head… oh my God! I don’t know what to do!’ Ariana’s shriek echoed in my head. ‘Calm down baby… You will scare Zoe. Take a few deep breaths and guide her… tell her to push as hard as she can. If the baby stays like that it will suffocate.’ ‘But I’ve never done this before.’ She responded, sounding sc
Lewis I felt like I was in paradise. At the break of dawn, I opened my eyes and found Ariana sleeping peacefully in my arms with a smile on her face. We were happy. And I hoped it remained so for the rest of our lives. I stroked her curly hair and leaned down, placing a kiss on her forehead. Ariana stirred, scrunching her eyebrows then inched closer to me, burying her face deeper into my chest. Having her back made me whole once again. I wouldn’t have survived without her and to think she had watched me die and had to experience the agony of the bond breaking filled me with intense guilt. That was not something I wanted her to go through. Ever. She had even gone as far as stabbing her heart to perform a dangerous spell to save me. That was the extent of her love for me. I could see it. I could feel it. A love so pure and true. What more can I ask for? I loved her just as much as she loved me and with each passing day that we are together, our bond grows stronger. All
Ariana I stared into Lewis’ eyes to check if he was telling the truth. Not that I didn’t believe him. It’s just that with our current situation, even I could come up with any reason that could help us be able to be together. He had just told me about how my mother and his father were childhood friends and that day, he was actually going to save her due to her call for help but unfortunately, he arrived late. “I have proof, baby… I can’t lie to you. You know that.” Lewis said with a pained expression. I cupped his face with my palms and pecked his lips. “I believe you. Even if you made something up I would always believe you.” I said and I meant it. “But I didn’t make it up my love. My father has recordings that you can listen to. I have them on my phone.” He said and took out his phone before I could stop him. We were seated on a two-seater couch in the small sitting room in the cabin after two more rounds of banging each other. I listened to the recording and when I heard
Lewis “Alpha, I’m leaving. I’ll only come back when I find my mate.” Alpha James raised his brow. “Are you sure? You’re going on a wild goose chase man. She could be anywhere.” Anger surged within me and I growled. “Are you saying I should give up on my mate? No way man… she’s mine and I’ll find her.” “How? By running around aimlessly like a headless chicken? Do you even have a clue where she is? If she doesn’t want to be found, do you think you can find her that easily?” I curled my hand, clenching it into a fist. He was right. I couldn’t just go searching without having a clue about Ariana’s whereabouts but what other choice do I have? Wait for her to calm down and come back on her own? What if she never comes back? What then? Being without her would kill me and my wolf. “I have to find her.” I said in a low voice, sounding defeated. “Come on man. We are wolves. We work smart, not harder. What’s the fastest way of finding someone in our supernatural world without using
Ariana I steeled my heart and chanted the teleporting spell while avoiding making eye contact with Lewis. I just couldn’t bring myself to look into his eyes. If I did, I was afraid I would decide to stay with him. But that was out of the question. Not after what I had found out. I had to leave for my parent's sake. I wouldn’t be able to face them knowing I had stayed with the people who took their life. Lewis just stood there, staring at me. And from my peripheral vision, I could see he was crying. My chest constricted seeing him like that. It hurt more that I had to leave him this way. I was punishing him for his father’s mistakes. It didn’t take long for the spell to take effect. As I was slowly getting sucked in, I snuck a look at Lewis. I wanted to see his enchanting face for one last time. I wanted to have it embedded in my mind forever. But the look of despair on his face crushed my heart. Now I would be stuck with his sad expression for the rest of my life. I shouldn’
Lewis I don’t know how long I had been staring at the spot where Ariana had vanished. My heart just couldn’t accept the fact that she was gone. She had left and this time I’m afraid, it’s forever. With the bad blood between us, there’s no way we could be together. For most of my life, I had never regretted any choices I made. Bad or good. Because I believed if you’re hesitant about something, you would still end up regretting whatever decision you make in the end. You would always ask yourself. What if? Could things have been different? I never wanted this type of uncertainty in my life so I was always decisive. But now, looking back, I deeply regretted bringing my mate to the pack. Perhaps I should have stayed with Ariana in the human town. I would be a CEO and she would do the work she loved. We would go back home together after a busy day at work, cook together, make love and do the same the next day just like normal people do. Most times people take advantage of thi
