**LISA’S POV**

“When was the last time you watched that?” Jessica asks, stuffing more popcorn into her mouth.

We wanted some ice cream and tears time, but then Jess craved popcorn too, so we decided on both popcorn and ice cream. Instead of the usual genre we go for, which is horror or tragic movies, one of our favorite TV shows was airing, so we ended up letting it play.

Plus, with Sergio sitting in the middle, we can’t watch any horror movie unless we want to deal with a crying child all night. So, the show is the safe option.

“When did this show turn into this shit show?”

“Jessica, language!” I groan. These kids are like recording tapes; they wait for you to say one bad word and memorize it like it was one of the alphabets or something.

“I’m sorry, but this show has taken a turn, and it's not for the better.”

“Can you stop complaining and just watch the show?” I frown.

After the show, Jessica took Sergio with her while I cleaned up. With nothing left to do, I went straight to bed.

I saw you from the corner of my eye take not one but three bites of my sandwich with that whole snow leopard excuse.” I try my best to hold back my laughter. “Well, do you have any witnesses? Because if you don’t, then I can sue you too.” “Oh okay, if you say so, smarty pants. You don’t have to worry because I won’t be pr

LISA’S POV“I’ll have to take off your shirt... again,” I tell Jack as I place the mini surgical kit I keep at home on the floor. We are currently in my basement. When I brought him here, I wanted to take him to Jessica’s apartment, but I couldn’t find the keys. So, the basement is the only safe place; it’s away from the kids, and I’m the only person that goes in and out of here. It’s the last place anyone will think of looking.“I don’t have any anaesthesia, so it’s best you take this.” I hand him a towel to bite on. One of the worst things is performing a mini-surgery without anaesthesia, but the good thing is he is a wolf, so he will definitely suck it up.“I don’t think I’ll need it. I’m a gamma, for crying out loud,” he whispers. I turn to him after washing my hands and putting on a silicon glove. “Gamma or not, you’re about to cry out loud real soon if you don’t bite on that towel,” I tell him as I grab my scalpel.I focus on the wound, studying it for a few seconds, before I

RONAN'S POV Jack has been missing for two days. I don't know if that is what I should call it, but he left without any notice. What I find weird is that nothing is missing from the house; it's just him and his car.I don't know if he decided to go on a road trip or if he has been attacked by rogues because he never goes away for more than twelve hours without informing me, Kyle, or his sister where he was going. So something is definitely up, and I'm hoping it's not something bad.The healers also told me he was still sick from his chest stab. Lisa probably stabbed him in self-defense, but her dagger was poisoned, and the doctors don't know with what or how to fully cure him. And the fact that they were just telling me about it two hours ago didn't make me feel any better.Jack is like a brother to me, and his father had been loyal to my father until his last breath when he died while trying to protect my father, leaving Jack and his sister Janice in my father’s care. And if the pois

RONAN’S POVIt's been four days now, and if I don’t get any good news anytime soon, I might as well start plucking my hair out of frustration. The sound of my phone buzzing on my desk made me look up from the files I’ve been zoning out on instead of reading through.“Alpha,” I hear Mitch’s voice in my head the moment I place the phone to my ear.Mitch is one of the border patrol wolves, and I only hope he has some good news or info on Jack, or I might rip him to pieces the next time I set eyes on him.Because they all know how much I hate it when they call my phone for unnecessary reasons. I didn’t accept his mind link request earlier for a reason.“Talk to me, Mitch. What’s going on?” I say leisurely as I lean back in my seat.“We’ve spotted Jack’s car.”I jerk up from my chair, sitting up straight. “What? Where?”“He is on his way to the pack house now.”“Did he say anything to you?”“We didn’t ask, Alpha.”“Why the fuck didn’t you?”“Well, you know how fast he drives. We weren’t ab

RONAN’S POV“Where have you been, Jack?” I ask again, hoping he would tell me I’m imagining things, and that the person I thought he was with during those four days of his health retreat was someone else. And not Lisa. Not only because she is my mate but even after a million years I will be a to tell the slightest whiff of her scent. Because she is has been my friend for many years. “I said I was with a friend. Why are you even bringing it up again?” Jack shakes his head with a laugh. In a flash, I’m in front of Jack, pinning him to the wall. I can feel my wolf clawing within me, wanting to be set free so he could snap Jack’s neck, but I ignore him.“Woah there, tiger.” Jack smiles, but when he sees the seriousness in my gaze, the smile disappears. “Relax, Ron.” He tries to free himself from my hold, but I only tighten my grip, my hands wrapped around his neck.“What the fuck, Ronan—” Kyle calls out from behind me, but I shut him up before he can start his speech about how we are br

LISA’S POVAfter the little surgery, Jack passed out on the iron bed in the basement for four days. If it weren’t for his slight snores once in a while and his steady heartbeats, I would have declared him dead. When he finally woke up, thankfully I was home and the kids and Jessica were out for ice cream, so I was able to let him out without anyone noticing. Salvador kept complaining he smelled something weird in the basement, but I told him it was herbs I was concocting. However, I knew what he smelled wasn’t any herb; it was Jack.Thankfully, he is the only one with a sharp nose for now. Sooner or later, they will all develop more of their werewolf senses, and I will have no choice but to tell them about it. Even though I'm wolfless, I don't think that will be the case with my kids. Their father is an alpha, so there’s less than a ten percent chance of all four of them being wolfless. As stupid as it probably sounds, I hope they all become wolfless like me so I won’t have to ever t

  • The Alpha’s reckoning    120: CALM BEFORE THE STORM

RONAN’S POV.The sun had already set by the time we returned to the pack house. Kyle carried Penny, who had fallen asleep somewhere along the way, her tiny head resting on his shoulder. Sergio was in my arms, his small body heavy with sleep until he stirred, rubbing his eyes groggily. The men I brought with me had already been dismissed, though not without Kyle warning them: "If I hear anything about that bear from anyone, you’ll lose your heads." They had nodded and slinked off, knowing better than to test his word. As we reached the apartment, I shifted Sergio gently in my arms and knocked on the door. For a moment, everything was quiet. Then the door swung open. Lisa stood there, her expression anxious and uncertain until her eyes landed on the sleepy boy in my arms. “Sergio!” she gasped, her hands flying to cover her mouth. Tears welled in her eyes as she dropped to her knees, unable to contain her relief. The boy’s sleepy face lit up with a tired but genuine smile. “

They won’t hurt us it’s just my daddy and his friends,” he says with a smile. To my surprise, the bear kneels, allowing Sergio to slide off its back like it's nothing more than a trained pony.“Daddy!” Sergio runs toward me, his tiny arms outstretched. I scoop him up, letting out a breath I didn’t realize I was holding. The relief washes over me like a wave, he's safe. But the bear's dark eyes are still fixed on me, tracking every move I make as if daring me to try something reckless. From th

RONAN’S POV“Kyle, you stay back. Howard and Team A will come with me,” I state firmly, knowing full well Kyle is going to argue. But he needs rest. Those bastards roughed him up, and I made him interrogate them again. As much as he won’t admit it, he’s not at full strength yet.Team A is made up of our most trusted warriors. I would’ve gone alone, but I need all the eyes I can get and only trusted eyes. Someone from the inside helped with the kidnapping; I feel it in my gut.Even though they got in during the race, they couldn’t have made it this far without help. RONAN'S POVFolding the sleeves of my blue button up shirt, I slip on my brass knuckles before taking a seat opposite him. The blonde guy across from me looks seconds away from pissing his pants. I tap the table lightly and lean forward with a cold smile. “We're in for some games tonight. I hope you’re ready.” He glares at me, trying to act tough. “What do you want from me?” I rest my elbows on the table. “First, how about you tell me your name?” “I’m not telling you shit,” he snarls. “Wrong answer,” I mutter, slamming my brass-covered fist into his face once, then twice. The sound of bone cracking echoes through the room as blood pours from his mouth. A tooth drops onto the table with a dull clink, and he groans in pain, spitting blood. “That should tell you I’m not here to play your ‘loyal spy’ games,” I say, wiping my knuckles clean. “Now, let’s try this again. What’s your name?” “Abel,” he whispers, trying hard to sound calm, but the fear in his eyes gives him away.

  • The Alpha’s reckoning    116: FINDING THE ANSWERS

RONAN’S POV “Baby, are you okay?” I ask, though I already know the answer. I don’t need to ask to know she isn’t okay. For the past three days, she hasn’t cried or shown any vulnerability. I know she wants Sergio back, I do too. Just the thought of what might be happening to my son right now makes me sick. I don’t know exactly what is going on, but if even a single strand of hair is missing from his head when I find him, I will make sure I burn down any pack or territory involved, no matter how small their part. “Do I look like I’m okay?” she asks, raising an eyebrow. “You don’t look okay,” I reply softly. She looks far from it. I know exactly what she’s doing, suppressing her emotions to stay strong. Gemma has been all over the place, crying and begging me to find her daughter. Lisa has been the only one holding things together, which means she’s bottling everything up to stay rational for everyone’s sake. But it’s eating her alive, and I know it because I feel it too. “L

My entire body freezes as if someone flipped a switch, cutting off my ability to think, move, or even breathe.Everything feels like it has stopped.“Lisa, I need to get you to safety now, please, don’t panic,” Ronan urges, his voice strained with urgency. His words barely register. It feels like I’m hearing them underwater, faint and distant. My limbs are paralyzed, every muscle locked in place, as if I have forgotten how to move.“I can’t go.” My voice is a trembling whisper as I take a step toward the chaotic crowd.“Lisa, no, it’s not safe in there,” Ronan shouts above the noise, trying to hold me back.“The kids are still in there! I’ve got a patient, and he’s not breathing," Jessica's voice comes through the line, shaky and alarmed."Jessie, I need you to calm down. Breathe," I say slowly, using my most soothing tone. I wait as she takes a few deep breaths. When she sounds steadier, I continue, "Okay, tell me what’s going on.""He’s out of surgery, and when he woke up, everything was fine. But then he fell asleep, and I thought it was just regular sleep, but... I think someone disconnected the heart monitor.""Have you tried turning it back on?" I ask."Yes, I did. "And who is this little guy?" She crouched to Sergio’s level, but he quickly ran to hide behind me."Oh, that's my son. He tends to be a little shy around new people," I explained, gently patting Sergio’s head."He's adorable!" she said with a small wave in his direction, but Sergio clung tighter to my leg. Gretchen didn’t seem offended and stood back up, brushing it off easily. She then turned toward Gemma with a friendly grin."And you must be Gemma, right?"The easy smile that had been on Gemma’s face moments ago faded.
