LISA’S POV

At first, I thought Salvador might have been wrong, but I couldn't dismiss what he said. Looking back at the rearview mirror a few times, I noticed the black van following us.

“Kids, hang on tight,” I said before swerving to the next lane, taking the nearest turn in hopes of losing them. But they were fast on my heels. Trying my best not to scare the kids by going very fast, but to my surprise, they were laughing and screaming, “Faster, go faster!”

It should have alarmed me that my kids weren’t scared as I raced through the streets. However, it was a little comforting, knowing I wouldn't have a crying child while trying to shake off the van behind me.

Glancing at the rearview mirror one more time, the car was far behind, with a motorbike intercepting between us. I managed to make it to the address Stella had sent me earlier.

a part of me wanted to go home, but going home wouldn’t be a perfect option, I don't know why or for how long they have been tailing us. So a crowded s

LISA’S POV“Why are you here?” The figure from the shadows moved closer, giving me a better view of who he was.It was Jack, one of the guys from the pack that used to pick on me. His presence sent a little shiver down my spine, memories of the past torment flooding but I pushed them away. “This is no way to welcome a fellow pack member,” Jack smirked, taking slow steps toward the couch I was sitting on in an intimidating manner, but I stayed unfazed."I'm not part of the pack anymore, nor do I need the pack in my life."I slowly stuck my hand into the couch, looking for the little silver dagger I kept inside for security reasons. I never thought I would ever need to use it, but here I am, desperately clutching it, waiting for the right time to stab the two men in my apartment.“So, this is where you've been hiding, huh?” Jack smirked, strolling around the room.“I want you two out of my house in the next sixty seconds.”“Sixty seconds?” Jack cocked a brow, bemused.“Unless you’ve ma

LISA’S POV I woke up feeling like a broken staircase, each movement a struggle against the weight that pressed down on me. My eyelids were glued shut, and I could feel sweat trickling down my forehead. “Why isn't she awake?” a voice asked with urgency, It sounded distant. I strained against the heaviness, trying to piece together what had happened. The memory of a sharp pain in my neck, a needle piercing my skin before darkness consumed me. “How the heck am I supposed to know that—” a male voice snapped, his frustration evident in every word. “You messed up, man. If he comes back and she isn’t awake, it's probably over for us,” another voice, deep and ominous, added to the mounting tension in the room. “We didn't have any other choice,” Kyle grunted then the sound of footsteps and then the door id being swung open and closed. “She just needs some rest, she will sweat it out and wake up soon,” a softer voice, presumably belonging to a girl, offered. “We should give her som

LISA’S POV Those silver-grey orbs, which I could never forget even if I tried, were piercing daggers into my soul. How could I ever forget them when I have three kids with the same eyes as him?He is dressed in a pair of sweats and a long-sleeved t-shirt, the sleeves rolled up to the elbow. The same way he used to dress when we’d train together. But he looks broader now, though those luscious lips and dark shiny hair remained the same. Wait, what am I saying? Snap out of it, Lisa. You can’t think that way about the same man who used you and dumped you like trash.“What are you trying to do?” He asked again, pulling me out of my trance.“What does it look like I’m doing?” I retort, tightening my hand on the iron bar beside the window.“Get away from the window,” he ordered, walking closer.“If you take another step, I promise you I’m going to jump,” I hissed, but he simply ignored me and took another step.I let go of the bar, jumping out. RONAN’S POV “You shouldn’t have drugged her, man,” my ears picked up Jack's words as he whispered to Kyle. “What did you expect me to do? She would’ve killed you if I didn’t. You’re welcome,” Kyle hissed, and I took slow strides to where they were arguing in hushed tones. “But still, you could’ve used something else, you know. That drug wasn’t just any sleeping drug, you know.” “I know. The alpha said we should be as fast as possible, and holding her off meant wasting more time.” “But she's a weak wolf, remember. Anything could happen-” “What did you drug her with?”I broke between their dialogue. Madeline gave them a sleeping drug to use if Lisa resisted, but from the little I just overheard, what they gave her wasn't the sleeping drug. Probably something quite stronger. “What did you inject her with?” I growled when they both fell silent. The last thing I wanted was the only person who could help me with my dad ending up dying or falling sick due to my lack of judgment.

LISA’S POVUnlike last time, I feel like a racehorse full of strength; there aren't any headaches or weak joints.I wasn’t in the room I was last time; I don't recognize this room at all, but something tells me I'm still at the pack house, or somewhere in the pack.Sitting up, I take in the room, trying to figure out where I am. Like most of the rooms in the pack house, it has white walls with red and black furniture.“You’re awake,” a blonde girl asked as she came through the door. Her white coat tells me she is one of the pack's doctors.“How are you feeling?” She flashes me a warm smile, but I don’t say anything, just watch her as she drops the tray she came in with on the nightstand.“Where am I?” It was the only thing that came out of my mouth, and it is the most logical thing to ask. I need to get out of here, and to do that, I need to know where I am.I don’t know how long I have been asleep or what time it is. I need to get home; I need to be sure my kids are safe. I hope they

I thought Kyle wanted to stab me or something but it turned out Ronan asked them to check if I was awake and to direct me to Ronan’s office “A hello would have been nice. It's been ages since we last met. It's a shame; I thought we’d get to catch up on things first,” he smirked, leaning into his seat behind the large mahogany desk. I had to hold back the laugh that was bubbling in my chest. “We have nothing to catch up on. Plus, I'd rather go deaf than spare you a minute of my time to catch up. Are you joking, or do you have amnesia? Have you forgotten how you betrayed me?” “Ouch,” he said, placing his hand on his chest, feigning hurt. “Each second I spend here is a waste of my time. I need you to tell me what the heck you want from me or let me be on my way. Unlike you, I have a life to get back to.” My words must’ve stung because I saw a slight change in his demeanour,

The healer said you could help, so unless she says you won't be of help, then you can leave and await the return of your journal.” I wanted to say no because I know I won't be of any help. I’m a doctor, a human doctor to be precise.“I know I’m not going to be of any help, but if you say so, then,” I shrugged.“Well, the healer is waiting,” he stood up. “Shall we?”I stood to my feet and followed behind him without any complaints, with hopes to get this over with so I can be on my way. RONAN’S POV.The sun had already set by the time we returned to the pack house. Kyle carried Penny, who had fallen asleep somewhere along the way, her tiny head resting on his shoulder. Sergio was in my arms, his small body heavy with sleep until he stirred, rubbing his eyes groggily. The men I brought with me had already been dismissed, though not without Kyle warning them: "If I hear anything about that bear from anyone, you’ll lose your heads." They had nodded and slinked off, knowing better than to test his word. As we reached the apartment, I shifted Sergio gently in my arms and knocked on the door. For a moment, everything was quiet. Then the door swung open. Lisa stood there, her expression anxious and uncertain until her eyes landed on the sleepy boy in my arms. “Sergio!” she gasped, her hands flying to cover her mouth. Tears welled in her eyes as she dropped to her knees, unable to contain her relief. The boy’s sleepy face lit up with a tired but genuine smile. “

It's a warning: Take one step, and I’ll tear you apart. But I don't care if it rips me to shreds so long as I can get those children away and ensure their safety, I'll take whatever comes.“Don’t attack us,” Sergio says calmly, his small voice cutting through the tension. The bear lowers its growl as Sergio pats it on the head. “It’s okay, Bruno. They won’t hurt us it’s just my daddy and his friends,” he says with a smile. To my surprise, the bear kneels, allowing Sergio to slide off its back like it's nothing more than a trained pony.“Daddy!” Sergio runs toward me, his tiny arms outstretched. I scoop him up, letting out a breath I didn’t realize I was holding. The relief washes over me like a wave, he's safe. But the bear's dark eyes are still fixed on me, tracking every move I make as if daring me to try something reckless. From th

RONAN’S POV“Kyle, you stay back. Howard and Team A will come with me,” I state firmly, knowing full well Kyle is going to argue. But he needs rest. Those bastards roughed him up, and I made him interrogate them again. As much as he won’t admit it, he’s not at full strength yet.Team A is made up of our most trusted warriors. I would’ve gone alone, but I need all the eyes I can get and only trusted eyes. Someone from the inside helped with the kidnapping; I feel it in my gut.Even though they got in during the race, they couldn’t have made it this far without help. When I find out who betrayed us, I’ll make an example of them so no one ever tries it again.Kyle stands his ground, hands in his pockets. “I’m coming with you.”His wounds have mostly healed, just a slight pinkish tint on his cheek. But it doesn’t change the fact that he needs rest.“No, you need to go and rest,” I tell him firmly.“My niece is missing too,” Kyle says quietly, his gaze unwavering. “Both kids are like my ow

RONAN'S POVFolding the sleeves of my blue button up shirt, I slip on my brass knuckles before taking a seat opposite him. The blonde guy across from me looks seconds away from pissing his pants. I tap the table lightly and lean forward with a cold smile. “We're in for some games tonight. I hope you’re ready.” He glares at me, trying to act tough. “What do you want from me?” I rest my elbows on the table. “First, how about you tell me your name?” “I’m not telling you shit,” he snarls. “Wrong answer,” I mutter, slamming my brass-covered fist into his face once, then twice. The sound of bone cracking echoes through the room as blood pours from his mouth. A tooth drops onto the table with a dull clink, and he groans in pain, spitting blood. “That should tell you I’m not here to play your ‘loyal spy’ games,” I say, wiping my knuckles clean. “Now, let’s try this again. What’s your name?” “Abel,” he whispers, trying hard to sound calm, but the fear in his eyes gives him away.

  • The Alpha’s reckoning    116: FINDING THE ANSWERS

RONAN’S POV “Baby, are you okay?” I ask, though I already know the answer. I don’t need to ask to know she isn’t okay. For the past three days, she hasn’t cried or shown any vulnerability. I know she wants Sergio back, I do too. Just the thought of what might be happening to my son right now makes me sick. I don’t know exactly what is going on, but if even a single strand of hair is missing from his head when I find him, I will make sure I burn down any pack or territory involved, no matter how small their part. “Do I look like I’m okay?” she asks, raising an eyebrow. “You don’t look okay,” I reply softly. She looks far from it. I know exactly what she’s doing, suppressing her emotions to stay strong. Gemma has been all over the place, crying and begging me to find her daughter. Lisa has been the only one holding things together, which means she’s bottling everything up to stay rational for everyone’s sake. But it’s eating her alive, and I know it because I feel it too. “L

It feels like I’m hearing them underwater, faint and distant. My limbs are paralyzed, every muscle locked in place, as if I have forgotten how to move.“I can’t go.” My voice is a trembling whisper as I take a step toward the chaotic crowd.“Lisa, no, it’s not safe in there,” Ronan shouts above the noise, trying to hold me back.“The kids are still in there! "And who is this little guy?" She crouched to Sergio’s level, but he quickly ran to hide behind me."Oh, that's my son. He tends to be a little shy around new people," I explained, gently patting Sergio’s head."He's adorable!" she said with a small wave in his direction, but Sergio clung tighter to my leg. Gretchen didn’t seem offended and stood back up, brushing it off easily.
