I was devastated when my mate said there was nothing I could do, I was so desperate to be with her. Everyone knows nothing was more important to a werewolf than his or her mate, but it seems mine forgot.
All through the night, I did everything I was supposed to do as a worker.
I could not help but glance at my mate from the other side of the room now and then.
When it was time for the man she was betrothed to enter, I was shocked.
It was a vampire.
I knew him from the neighboring vampire group around the pack. A vampire and a witch, what else could go wrong?
I was so angry that she could easily go with a vampire, but wouldn't fight for me, a werewolf.
I wanted to cause a scene, but I knew I could not because humans were present.
I held in my anger all night, and thankfully the two betrothed did not touch inappropriately, it would have been chaos.
As I stood in the corner, I thought of ways to make my mate want me, but there were none.
At the end of the ceremony, it was announced that the real marriage will be held in a month. I believed that gave me enough time to plan.
Before it was time for us workers to leave, I paid my lady one last visit, promising her that I would be back for her.
She gave me a confused look, not understanding what I meant by will be back for her. But a promise is a promise and I intend to keep to it.
I returned to my pack that night, feeling restless. I needed to take the vampire out of the picture.
I knew where the vampires stayed, I just needed some companions to make it happen.
I became the Alpha, my father was old enough to go to where every old Alpha is required to retire.
I became the leader of my pack in less than one week. I commanded every wolf, they were mine to command.
I let that go into my head as I approached the pack warriors one night.
"I am your Alpha, and I have a job for you tonight", I began, using my Alpha voice. "Someone took something from me and we must get it back, a vampire thinks he is the boss, we must show him that is not true, are you with me", I asked.
The pack warriors looked at each other probably thinking I was being unreasonable, but none of them dared not speak up.
They had no choice but to follow my lead and do whatever I tell them to.
That night we raided the vampires' home and bit every single one of them, unbeknownst to me, one had escaped.
I was happy I had specifically gotten rid of the one that was betrothed to my mate.
Now, it was time to get back what was mine.
I sneaked back into the castle to talk to Quinn, my mate.
I went straight to her room.
Thankfully when I got there, she was alone.
"Hello again", I spoke, making her jump into the air from being startled.
"What are you doing here?" She asked after she caught herself.
I stepped closer to her, I knew she would be able to resist the mate bound if I was in her space, and I was right.
"I came here for you", I caressed her arm softly, making her lean into me.
As if something clicked inside of her, she abruptly took a step back and looked at me accusingly "Did you kill him?" She asked.
I studied her face carefully, trying to determine how to answer her, but I figured he wasn't exactly angry.
"Yes, I did, I did it for us", I answered and took another step closer to her.
"For us? Are you insane? I will never ask such from you", she was starting to get mad, so I did what I could to keep her quiet, I could not risk anyone knowing I was there.
I kissed her. Her lips were as soft as I remember them. I deepened the kiss, she did not object but instead pressed herself more into me.
I was glad the mate bond was at least working, what I wasn't happy about was that she was mad at me. I broke the kiss.
"Don't be mad at me, I genuinely did it so we can be together without barriers", I explained
"Without barriers? Okay, have fun explaining to my father", she laughed dryly leaving me confused
"Why would I explain it to your father?" I asked
"You think you can just sweep me off of my feet and we will ride into the sunset?
No, you have to ask for my hand from my father, that is how things are done here", she explained to me.
"Okay, I will talk to your father", her face lit up when I said that. She was not expecting me to agree.
"Okay, I will be waiting for that day then", she told me while walking towards her door. She held it open for me.
I nodded and smiled as I walked towards her, dropped a kiss on her forehead, and left as secretly as I had entered the castle.
On my walk back to my pack house, I was deep in thought about how I was going to talk to my mate's father so he would approve of our union. I was ready to do anything.
I was not paying attention to my surroundings, I was shot at by someone, whose face I couldn't see, and the arrow was poisoned, leaving me weakened.
There was nothing I could do, I was alone, and I could not defend myself. I succumbed to darkness.
When I woke up, I was in an underground cell chained with silver, there was no means of escaping.
I really wanted to see the face of my kidnapper. Who would dare attack an Alpha werewolf?
I tried escaping from the chains, but they would not bulge and I was getting weaker and weaker.
It was at that moment that I prayed for a miracle from the Moon Goddess if she would listen to my prayers.
It wasn't long before the door rattled, and I was hopeful that it was someone who would rescue me. I thought wrong.
It was my mate's Father, the leader of the witches coven. I was surprised to see he was behind my kidnapping.
"Why are you doing this", I asked
"You ruined my plans, now I will ruin you", he laughed bitterly and slapped me across the face.
I was confused about what plans I had ruined.
I didn't do anything, other than secretly teeing his coven to see his daughter who happened to be my mate.
I was confused and angry.
A confused and angry Alpha werewolf on a full moon was not a good combination.
He got what he deserved.
He got what was coming for him.
“What plan are you going on about?” I asked him“I was going to ally with the vampires and get them to turn me. Do you think I want to remain this old, with this saggy body?”“But, it would affect the balance, a witch and a vampire in one body, it would be a catastrophic situation”.I reasoned with him, but he wasn’t having any of it“Even if my plan wasn’t going to work. There was plan B, where my grandchildren would be hybrids and they would rule the world, but no you had to kill the one thing that was keeping me going. Those vampires were my only hope of ruling the world and you took it from me, now I am going to take your life away from you”, the more he spoke, the more I realized he was a mad man.“And you decided to use my mate? Did you even bother to tell her of your plans? Did she agree to this too?” I asked him repeatedly. “She doesn’t need to know, she just needed to marry the vampire and the plans would have been set in motion”, I got mad after he said that. It was winter period when I first found my mate, she was beautiful and fair, had skin as white as snow, her hair was as flowy as velvet, and she had the voice of an angel.Perhaps, I was biased because she was mine, but it was the truth, one thing that kept me from pursuing her at first was that she was a witch. We werewolves and witches were not that close, we tend to get on each other’s nerves, so I knew my father would not approve, he was big on keeping to the rules.I became her stalker, not that she knew. The training was intense, as expected, but it was more brutal than regular pack training.Maybe it was because every werewolf present was an Alpha, and no one wanted to submit, no one wanted to take orders from another Alpha, especially since our pack members vary.An alpha with hundreds of pack members will not want to submit to one with not up to a hundred packs. No submission, It was against our instincts.I fought about three Alphas a day for physical training; there was mental development that was not so much my forte because I was not an overly expressive person.Emotional training was the one I hated the most, I hate talking about my emotions, especially since my mother died.My father, who was the Alpha of my pack, refused to talk about her after she died, and I didn't blame him because I can only imagine what sort of pain it would be to lose a mate, especially one that you are bonded to.When my mother was alive, I was very open about my feelings. Entering the castle was not as hard as I thought it would be, upon our entry, I realized we were on the Red Velvet Coven lands. Humans had always been dumb when it came to the supernaturals, and they did not seem to believe in things like that, that was why they call the place ‘castle’. I don't blame them though, we supernaturals have always been tight on keeping our secrets because not all humans are as open-minded as we would like them to be.As it would seem, my guise worked, because no one questioned my intention as I roamed through the castle trying to figure out a way to my mate. It was not an easy task, between keeping up with my guise and actually doing the work I registered for and doing what I wanted for myself. We were told to beautify the castle’s largest hall for the Lady’s engagement that night. I was overjoyed that they were not getting married right away, that meant I still had a chance. Before I knew it, I was asked to bring some flowers to the Lady’s room, excit
