CHAPTER SEVENTYHera's POVI'm still in a state of shock, still finding it hard to comprehend how people could easily give up their lives for one person that doesn't even care about them. It irks me to know how much power that Alpha Luggard has over the minds of his spies that he’s stationed and it angers me to know that they willingly let him manipulate them until they couldn’t even think for themselves anymore.I remember Isaac and how my long speech of convincing him didn’t work until he was caught and killed and he didn’t even give the name of any other spy while I cowered in fear of possibly getting exposed. If only I knew how hard minded they all were thanks to Alpha Luggard and his perfect manipulation.I sigh again as I sit in the car beside Hugh who’s driving and he holds our already linked fingers tighter while he spares me a glance from time to time to see how I’m doing.“That bastard, Luggard. I’m going to make him feel so sorry for ruining people’s lives as he dies” I say
Hera's POVI'm still laying on the floor with Alpha Hugh and he seems to be losing a lot of blood from where the bullet grazed him so with a lot of struggle, I help him up to his feet so we'll go down and get help quickly before he loses too much blood and loses his consciousness.“Let's just try and get down, then we'll get help and you'll be fine,” I tell him and he grunts in reply.“Don't worry, it isn't too serious Hera, I'll be fine” he says to assure me but I don't listen to his words as I keep leading us downstairs. We hear footsteps approaching and I quickly reach for the gun in my pocket in case it's a Bluemoon pack guard but the person comes closer and it turns out to be Krystal who was coming toward us.We grin at each other once we see each other and a new wave of joy and relief takes over me and it settles on me that Alpha Luggard is actually dead and gone for good. She notices the blood on Alpha Hugh's shoulder and quickly rushes toward us to check on him.“Luggard shot
I woke up with a throbbing headache, I don't even remember falling asleep. I turn to look at my brother who was lying still on the ground with his eyes screwed shot. Mark, my brother seemed to be traumatized about the whole fight that happened between my wolf pack and our rivals. We have lost practically everything, including my parents, no shelter, nothing to eat, no change of clothes. It all started out as a dream, more like a nightmare. There was fire everywhere, some were forced to change into their wolves, many were injured and my parents who were the Alpha and Luna were at the war front fighting for the good of our pack died on the spot. Our rivals were stronger and more in number so they had more advantage than my pack.I changed into my wolf, put Mark on my back and we fled into the woods, escaping wasn't so easy. The rival pack wolves were everywhere, I was scared but I had to put on a facade because of my little brother. He held on tight to my pitch black fur which was qu
My head is spinning. It is a struggle to keep my breathing in check and I'm sure as hell that I'm drowning. My chest burns, my body quakes in anxiety. Screaming would shake off the fear rising but I don't make a sound, my throat also burns, and more than anything, I mustn't startle Mark so I go through the excruciating pains in silence. This is what I must get used to, I must ignore all burns, pains, agony...nightmares.Many times, it is easy to push the gory images blurring my vision by focusing on the bird tattoo etched on my wrist, other times, the bird does nothing but aggravates the demons. Demons fighting for my soul, the only thing I have left. They feed on my fears and tears, leaving me a shaken mess. I would do anything to bury my memories. This time all I see is fire, an unending, unquenchable one, my skin heats up and the bird seems to be glowing. I know it's the demons but I'm having a hard time suppressing them. The fire burning is a clear depiction of the night I lost ev
Be it as it may. I was a prisoner here. No training, no preparation was going to get me over that fact. The prestigious Blue Moon Pack now stood as nothing but the solid mark of the very beginning of my pain. The world had gone mad. And the Alpha I was supposed to be pledged to for a lifetime was now my captor.I had was dealing with the loss of my parents in the most painful way unimaginable. Night after night met me with new streaks of tears, and at dawn, a expression of pretense. I didn't care however I wore it. I just hoped not to cry before anyone.I didn't plan to do anything that would have been offered to me earlier, but the Alpha, using my brother as a bargaining cheap, that sure worked out fine. I knew I stood no match for most of the shapeshifters here. Besides, I was raised to be a princess, and not a warrior.A princess. To me, that was a lifetime ago. All that was gone now. I was just some werewolf fighting for her existence, the survival of her brother, and potentially
I smile back at Mark as my heart fills up with ease, even though I know it will be for a while, and stand up to my feet. I stretch my hand forward to his to help him up and he takes my hand. I pull him up with a grunt and he laughs to himself. I arch my eyebrow in curiosity when he wouldn't tell me what's so funny so I decide to ask.“What's so funny? You were laughing to yourself just now” I ask him and he shakes his head in response.I quickly reach for his head and hold it between my arm and body, trapping him beneath my armpit and he cries out in disgust while I laugh hard at him.“Will you tell me or not?” I question again and he holds his hands up.“Fine, fine I'll tell you” he surrenders and I smile satisfyingly before I slowly let him go but hold onto his hand so he won't run away from me.“You grunted while helping me up so I wondered how someone stronger than me can't pull up a ten-year-old boy without grunting,” Mark says, mocking me and I laugh too.“You're weighty that's
“Hera, are you okay? I heard you screaming so I came to check on you” Mark says as he stares at me worriedly and I shake my head before I come down from my bed and head for the kitchen to get a glass of water to wet my parched throat.“I'm fine Mark, don't worry about me,” I tell him but he squints his eyes and shakes his head at me.“I don’t believe you. You look like a huge mess” he says as I turn on the tap and watch the water pour into the cup beneath it. The glass gets full and the water begins to pour into the sink but I don’t notice it. I don’t feel the cold water pouring on my hand because I’m thinking about the dream I just had; wishing it would stop already and the demons haunting me from the day our pack was attacked would stop whispering demeaning words to me in my head.Mark rushes up to me and stands on his tiptoe to lock the tap then he takes the glass of water from my hand and drops it on the kitchen counter before he yells out my name and I jolt; coming back to my sen
CHAPTER SIXThere's a huge smile on Mark's face as we sit on the rooftop of the house Alpha Luggard gave to us and watch the sunset from afar. There's still some leftover chicken from the breakfast he had. He left it in the refrigerator when he got filled up and we decided to have it for dinner instead of the soggy noodles that they gave us.“I like the color of the sun, so pretty,” Mark says and I smile before I pat him on the head.“Your sister won her fight today again, aren't you going to tell me congratulations?” I ask him and he just pouts his lips with a grown etched on his face.“I don't know if I should congratulate you or if I should be scared,” he says and I can't help but wonder why he's scared.“What's wrong Mark? Why would you be scared?” I ask him and he looks at me, his eyes are filled with tears and I felt my insides twist with agony on seeing him like that. He shouldn't be crying, he should be smiling like he was just seconds ago.I quickly drag the sleeve of my shir

Hera's POVThe next day comes in a rush. The alarm rings and I open my eyes to see that my head is still resting on Alpha Hugh's chest. I smile to myself as I look up at his face to see that he's still asleep. Then the alarm rings again and he stirs in his sleep before he opens his eyes dizzily and looks down at me. I maintain eye contact with him and we remain like that for a while before a smile spreads slowly on his face and I feel my insides tingle due to how adorable he looks.“Good morning” he says and I take his hand and kiss his knuckles.“Good morning my Alpha” I greet him back before I sit up on the bed and he follows to do the same.“Hope you had a good night” he asks and I nod gingerly in response while he smiles and kisses me on my forehead.“So, are you ready for today?” I ask him, since we’re going to go after the spies that Alpha Hugh planted in the pack and he nods in response.“Of course, now we can get those that want to destroy my pack and end them” he says then h
Luca’s POVI was still in a state of shock when we arrived at the Silvercrest pack. I was still finding it hard to believe that I just ditched my pack and Alpha and if it weren't for Alpha Hugh who accepted me right from when I was willing to help them, I would be a rogue by now.I betrayed my Alpha so there is no way that he would forgive me or even think of taking me back because that is an irreversible act that I did and even if I had the chance to do it again, I would do it.That's how much Alpha Luggard infuriates me.Still hurting from my leg that I got hit when I and Hera were trying to escape and we fought with the guards, I start to limp when I get down from the van as we arrive at the pack and I see Alpha Hugh carrying Hera who's now asleep inside.I still feel sorry for her for how she had to watch her little brother die helplessly and how she couldn't even get his body due to the situation.I know it must be hurting her as hell but I know she's strong and with all of us by
Hera’s POVMy thoughts are now invading my sleep too and giving me nightmares but I can't bring myself to wake up from this slumber no matter how hard I try.I keep on seeing Mark's body where it lay at the foot of the Bluemoon pack, with his back towards me but the excruciating pain remains and it kills me the more the image keeps recurring in my dream, making me want to get down there and wake him up or want to save him but I can't seem to move. I'm stuck to a spot and that makes it more frustrating for me that I can't do anything to save him.Suddenly, I find that I'm back at the moment when I was about to save Mark. When the guard was still holding onto him before Alpha Luggard shot him in the head. All senses in me awaken, forgetting it's a dream and I find myself running at the fastest as I can to save him before he falls off like he did previously but the bullet still whizzes past me like it did that time and I watch in horror once again, how the bullet burst open the guards h
Hera's POVI'm still struggling with Luca as he pulls me away down the stairs and when we begin to hear footsteps from afar, he quickly pulls me into a dark corner where no one would see us easily. I'm still struggling with him still in the corner and we stand a risk of being exposed as we see guards passing by with guns each so he quickly covers my mouth to stop me from making any sound and that's when he finally gets my attention. He looks at me with deep remorse in his eyes for a while without saying a word and soon, I begin to feel myself calm down so I pull his hand off my mouth to get myself together little by little as I fist my hair while heaving continuously.“Hera I know this is a bad time to say this but we don't have a choice. I betrayed my Alpha and you just destroyed his right arm so we're both in deep shit. He's going to come for us and won't stop until we're both dead so we have to find a way out of this pack by all means” he tells me and I meet his eyes.“He killed m
Hera's POVI stand in the middle of the living room for a long time doing nothing as I keep on praying to the moon goddess and hoping that Reece and Mark would leave the Bluemoon pack safely. I came all this way for my brother, I went through all those things just to keep him safe so he has to be fine for it all to pay off. He's the only family I have left so he has to be fine because I can't afford to lose him, I'll never forgive myself.Minutes turn into an hour and there's still nothing from Reece to confirm that they've gotten out of the pack safely. From the time I estimated for everything to happen, they're meant to be out of the pack by now. Except it's hard for Luca to distract the guards.I sigh as I take a seat while I still wonder what could be keeping them from communicating with me already. My mind is in a turmoil, I'm finding it hard to think straight because many negative scenarios and instances keep popping up in my head even though I keep wishing that none of them are
Hera's POVI'm back at the place I always see myself in my nightmares. This time there's no one or anything in sight. Just a vast and plain ashy ground with carcasses of skeletons scattered around as I walk on endlessly with no end of the place in sight.I begin to feel tired so I take a seat and soon, I lay down to sleep and I'm sucked into another nightmare. This time, it's new because I'm in a dark room with nothing in sight and I've never seen myself here before.I quickly stand up once I begin to hear noises and when I look to my left, I catch the shadow of someone walking around but I don't see anybody.“Who's there?” I call out but there's no reply so I repeat the same thing again and to my shock, it's my mother that I see.I freeze when I see her and tears cloud my eyes when she smiles at me before pulling me into a hug and I hug her back immediately.“I'm so sorry mum, I wish I did something that day to save all of you, they were just so many” I begin to apologize and she shu
Hera's POVWe finally arrive at the final outskirts of the Bluemoon pack after walking for almost two hours and I believe that I don't have to pretend about how I am anymore because I'm actually weak and tired all over from the long distance that we just covered. We begin to hear footsteps as we approach the large gates and soon, there are up to six guards holding their guns toward us while stopping us from going past. Reece moves to face them and fights them off if they try to attack us but I quickly hold him by the wrist to pull him back because this place isn't the same as the pack we just left. They would kill him without giving him a chance to speak. He looks at me and I just subtly nod so he gets me and he stands beside me without a word, waiting for me to take the next step now.“I'm here to see the Alpha, I was sent on a mission and I'm back now,” I tell them but they don't budge. Seriously, are this man’s guards made of stone?“Show us proof or you'll be made to turn around b
