Lena's POV. Leo joined us and we left the house, he's had this smug look on his face ever since we left the house. I'm sure he caught me ogling him, but it's not my fault, it's my wolf, I don't know what's wrong with her but she seems to have forgotten that we don't like Leo, I'm going to have a serious talk with her when we get back to the house. But thankfully, Leo offered to drive and Freya is up front with him and my wolf is quiet. The drive from the house to the chapel is about twenty minutes. The chapel can only be described as gothic, it has the stoned statues of angels and gargoyles that you feels like they're watching you and of course the stained glass and the bell tower on top. We get down from the car and I get a very weird feeling. “Sorry to say, but does any one else feel off about this place?” I asked both Leo and Freya. “Those are the spirits.” Freya says like it's something normal. “I'm sorry, what spirits?” I asked her. “Remem
Lena's POV. “Ok, that sounds ominous, let's go into my office and talk.” He tells us and then he turns around and starts walking and we follow behind him. Leo keeps looking at me and I can see the worry in his eyes, but I can't afford to think about what Vincent said, not right now, my mind can only handle one earth shattering crises at a time and now my mind is focused on finding a cure. And which knows maybe by the time we find a cure Vincent would've gotten a clearer vision and what it means. Vincent opens a door and we step into his office, it just like any other office, it has windows, a huge desk and some chairs and bookshelves. I don't know, I guess I was expecting it to look more witchy, you know some sage in the air, herbs hanging around, especially for the leader of the witch faction. “Please, have a seat.” Vincent tells us. We each take a seat, opposite him on the other side of his desk. “Ok, what is this talk about a pack getting wipe
Lena's POV. Vincent leaves the office to go and get the younger lady, we still don't know her name. “Freya are you ok?” I ask her, because she keeps staring at one point on the wall. “It's all my fault.” She whispers but we can hear her. “What are you talking about?” Leo asked, he looks worried. “I never should've trusted them with the grimoires, I should've taken them with the rest and then none of this would've happened.” She says as she starts pacing up and down the office and then Leo gets up and halts her. “Listen to me, none of this is your fault. Don't even think it at all, this was done by someone that wants to hurt me, so if they didn't get their hands in this spell, they would've done something else. The only person to blame here is me. And we should see this as something good because they used this particular spell, it led me back to you and it gives us the upper hand in stopping them. So I don't want to hear any talk about this being y
Alpha Leo's POV. “No, I can't do that, he'll be able to tell that something is wrong.” Anna says. I get up from my seat and squat in front of her so we are facing each other. “I'm going to tell you something, those pages that your brother ripped from the grimoire and probably sold to the wrong person. One of those spells has been used on my pack, and everyone is getting sick and dying, including children, children that haven't had the chance to actually live. So we need to get to your brother and find out who he sold it to. I know you're a good person, you never meant for any of this to happen, so I'm asking you to put yourself together, long enough for us to get to your brother, can you do that for me Anna?” I ask her. “Yes, yes I can.” She says and she wipes the tears from her face and I get up. “Good, then I guess we should be leaving.” I tell everyone. I look at Vincent and he has this pissed look on his face ever since he found out about Anna's brother an
Alpha Leo's POV. Anna looks like she's in a daze and Lena has to literally drag her to the car while I throw Dylan over my shoulder and high tail it to the car before anyone spots us. Vincent must've seen us coming because by the time we get to the car, he already has the trunk open and I lay Dylan inside. “I take it he didn't want to come using the easy way.” He says. “Yea, he didn't.” I tell him and then we close the trunk. Freya is at the back with Lena and Anna, they're both trying to calm Anna down. “What happened back there?” Vincent asks as he drives away from the club, he looks worried, too worried, it maybe I'm just seeing things. “Everything was going according to plan but then after we got him out of the club he got suspicious and Anna isn't a good liar under pressure, he could tell that she was lying so we had to use the powder on him and when he passed out, Anna freaked out. You know it's one thing talking about it and then it'
Alpha Leo's POV. I don't know what Freya is doing to this kid but it looks extremely painful, his whole face, I mean his whole body has turned red and he's also sweating buckets. “What exactly is she doing?” I asked Vincent. “She's going into his memories and the older the memory the more painful the process is especially when the participant isn't willing.” He tells me. “Could he die from this?” I asked him. “The memory is just six months old so it's highly unlikely but he's going to have one hell of a headache when he wakes up from two to three days sleep. But apart from that he should be fine, but that's also it's because it's Freya doing it.” He says and I'm confused. “What do you mean it's because it's Freya?” I asked. “Well, there are a handful of people in the world that can do what she's doing. I am one of them and I can tell you this, compared to Freya, I'm a learner. If I were to do this, his risks would be much higher, I could liquify his b
CHAPTER 65Lena's POV. I've had to hold Anna's hand throughout everything, I don't know which was worse, the screaming or the silence, but I was with her through it all. Even though he betrayed her, he was still her brother so of course she would be affected by what was happening in that room. I don't know how much time passes and then Leo and Freya come out of the office and Anna immediately gets up. “What happened in there? Is he alright?” Anna asked them. “He's fine, he's just going to be taking a long nap and when he wakes up he might have a bad headache but apart from that he should be just fine.” Freya tells her. “You went into his mind, didn't you?” Anna asks her. “Yes I did, it was the less painful and bloody solution. But we got what we needed, I'm sorry you had to go through this today Anna, I really am. Vincent is waiting for you in his office.” Freya tells her. Anna wipes the tears from her face and then she leaves. I get up fro
Lena's POV. “Leo, are you ok?” I asked him, I'm going to pretend that I didn't hear what I just heard. His eyes are gold like he's about to transform and his breathing is increased. He doesn't say anything he just walks closer to me and growls, I haven't seen him like this before and it ignites the flight instinct in me so I take a few steps back and that seems to snap him out of whatever trance he's in. He blinks his eyes and then next time he opens them, they're back to the normal color and his breathing is on it's way back to normal. “Are you ok?” I ask him again. “Yea, I am.” He said but he looks confused. “Are you sure, what happened back there?” I asked him. “I don't know, it was my wolf, the moment I saw you he took over, I had no control. I'm sorry I scared you Lena.” He apologises. I step forward and place my hand on his shoulder. “It's fine, no need to apologise, nothing happened.” I tell him. “Yea, that's true.” He says a
Alpha Leo's POV. We lock the four other men in a room we found in the warehouse, turns out they're human and not wolves so we made sure to take away their guns. Lex is tied to a chair, with ropes and chains and we injected him with a heavy dose of wolfsbane so even when he wakes up, he'll be too weak to escape. “Are you ready to do this?” I asked Freya. “Yea, find out where the pages are it should be easy, I don't think I will dive that deep and even if I have to, it will be more painful for him than for me.” She says. She steps behind Lex and places both hands on his head, she closes her eyes and she starts chanting. “What do you think he was doing here?” I asked Zeo. “I have no idea, but whatever it was I have a strong feeling that it wasn't good.” He says. “What do you mean?” I asked him. “Well, this particular dock is known for being used for illegal activities, the cartel's and the mafia run their goods th
Alpha Leo's POV. I look at the map to see where he is. “That's down by the docks, there's nothing there but warehouses.” I tell Freya. “Well, that's where he is now, the spell doesn't work like a GPS, if he leaves there, we are going to have to do another location spell again. So we need to get there now.” She tells us. “Alright then, lets go.” I tell her. “Wait, wait, wait, just wait.” Lena says as she holds up her hands. “You're about to walk into a situation that you know nothing about. What if he's not alone, what if he has his men with him, there's only three of you.” She tells us and she has a point. “I know that Lena, but we don't have a choice, more than half of the pack is sick and the ones that aren't, they won't leave their homes. We have to do this by ourselves. We'll be fine, I mean only Freya can take care of all of them with a flick of her wrist.” I tell her. “That is true.” Freya tells her. “Ok, but
Alpha Leo's POV. Zeo texted that they were on their way back and that something was wrong with Freya but he didn't go into details. So I grabbed the map I needed and here I was, waiting for them at the front door. A few minutes later, I hear his truck pull up and I open the front door. Freya looks like she's seen a ghost as she leans on Zeo and he walks her into the house. I go to the kitchen and grab a bottle if water for her then I meet them back in the living room. “Here, drink this.” I tell her as I hand her the bottle. She opens it up and takes a few sips. “You feel better?” I ask her. “A little.” She says. I take a seat next to her. “What happened back there? Were you able to get the signature?” I asked her. “Yes, I was and that's the problem.” She says. “I don't understand, what do you mean?” I ask her. “The witch's signature that was left there is one I recognise, it's one that I'm very familiar with. It belongs to my aunt Dahlia.” She tells me
Freya's POV. The pack is so quiet but Lena and Leo were right, it is beautiful. “So no one comes outside because of the disease?” I ask Zeo as he drives. “Yea, we don't know exactly how the disease spreads and why some people are sick and some aren't. So everyone just stays in. Every week, a truck delivers groceries and also another truck comes in to pick up the trash. They're humans so there's no chance of them getting infected.” He tells me. “That's really sad.” I tell him as I look out my window. “Yes it is and it's also hard to look at, this pack was so full of life and for it to be like this now, it's hard to watch.” He tells me. “What about you, did you have any family that was infected?” I ask him. “No, I lost my parents at a young age, they had my sister and I late in life, so they lived a full life. My sister is married, her husband is an Alpha of a pack back in Jersey. So thankfully she wasn't here when it hit.”
Alpha Leo's POV. I left the dining room but I didn't leave the house, I went to the patio to tell the kids goodbye and when Zeo came over, I left and that's when I heard her, it's not like I was purposely listening in or anything like that. The house was quiet and voices carried, so I heard what she said, she loves me but she doesn't trust me. That might discourage some people but not me, I have a smile on my face and a spring in my step as I walk to my car. Here I thought that all feelings she had from me had been stripped away after I rejected her but I was wrong. She loves me now all I need to do is prove to her that she can trust me with her heart again. I get to the house and I park my car, the pack is so quiet that if not from the sounds coming from the birds you would think that it was a graveyard. I put off the lockdown mode and walk into the house. I packed breakfast in a Tupperware from Lena's house because I'm pretty sure I have nothing in my kitc
Alpha Leo's POV. I can tell that she's nervous around me after what I said last night, but I can't tell if the nerves are good or bad. I meant what I said, I am going to win her back and it starts today, anytime that isn't spent looking for Lex, I'm dedicating that time to her. “Well, I'm going to check in on Elijah and find out if he had turned up anything. Then we'll need to head back to the house to get that map for Freya, plus I need to feed Scarlett.” I tell them. “You really put her down in the dungeon?” Zeo asks. “Yes and I also put the house in lockdown, she's not going anywhere.” I tell him. “I'm also going to need to go to the site where the spell was cast.” Freya says. “Why? If it's for the sludge that was running underneath the grounds, I already have a sample back at my lab.” I tell her. “No, it's not that. Usually when a witch or a warlock casts a spell, they leave their own signature behind. Not a little of witches can t
Lena's POV. After Leo's declaration last night, he kisses me on my cheek and left the house. I didn't plan on saying anything back to him but even if I wanted to, I couldn't, his words shocked me that I couldn't even form any words if I tried. The truth of the matter is I'm tired of being angry, it takes up a whole lot of energy and if you ask me, I've forgiven him, I mean I was ready to be friends with him for the sake of the kids, but to get back together with him and have a relationship. I'm not sure that I can do that, I mean I still love him I won't deny that, the problem here is trust, do I trust him with my heart? And the answer to that question is no, I do not. I mean last time he shattered my heart so badly that it took me years to put back together and it was never really the same. I toss and turn in bed, sleep eluding me because of the different scenarios that I keep on playing in my head. The first one being, if I never came back here to find a cure h
Alpha Leo's POV. “How are we going to do that, you're the one that said he was a ghost.” Zoey says. “I know that, but now we have his name. I've sent it to Elijah so I'm sure he'll be able to turn up something.” I tell her. “There might be another way, I'm not sure about it but it might work.” Freya says. “What's that?” I asked her. “If you guys really are brothers, then you share the same blood. So I might be able to track him using your blood.” She says. “And it will work?” I ask. “I'm not a hundred percent sure but it should.” She tells me. “What do you need?” I ask her. “I need a map and your blood, that's it.” She tells me. “Ok, I think there's a map back at the house and if there isn't one there, we'll get one.” I tell her. “So what exactly is the plan when you find him?” Zeo asks. “I'm still working that out, but first priority is finding those pages so the girls can make a cure.” I tell h
Alpha Leo's POV. “So, the day we got back from New Orleans, after Zeo and I left, the man I hired to trail Scarlett met us in the house, he found the evidence that I needed. Turns out she's been having an affair, but that wasn't the shocking news, what shocked us was the fact that the man in the video, the man Scarlett was sleeping with, Elijah couldn't find him, he wasn't on any database, he was a ghost. But he did have one distinct feature which was the birthmark that he had on his back, a birthmark that was the same as mine, in the same spot. A birthmark that is unique to my family line, it turns out that I have a brother.” I tell them and now all three of them look shocked. “Wait, wait a minute, so your wife is cheating on you with a brother that you knew nothing about, is that right?” Freya asks me. “That is correct.” I tell her. “This story is so good, I won't lie, but I'm confused.” Zoey tells me. “So was I, but everything will soon make sen
