Lena’s POV. It's ten thirty in the morning, last night Zoey and I talked and that was exactly what I needed to put my defences up. Leo might be a changed man and I'm not doubting that or anything but it doesn't mean that I can let him back in my heart, maybe someday we might be friends, I guess we have to to since I'm considering letting him back into the kids lives but that's it, just friends. The kids woke up very cranky this morning, coming down from their sugar high, so I gave them all a hot bath and we has some eggs and toast with orange juice for breakfast. Emmett left like an hour ago to go to the lab while the kids are currently doing some home school with Zoey. As for me, I'm currently making sure I have everything packed before I close up my box and my carryon, also my backpack containing my devices, like my laptop, tablet and of course their chargers. When I'm sure I have everything I need I zip it all up and carry them downstairs. I drop all my bags b
Alpha Leo's POV. We arrive at the private airstrip about two hours later. The pack is so secluded that it takes a while to get to the city. “We're here.” I tell Lena as I park the car near the jet but not too close, someone will come and move it anyway. “You know when you said private jet, it didn't occur to me until now to ask who had it.” She tells me. “Oh, this one is mine.” I tell her and she looks so shocked that it makes me smile as I come down from the car. She gets down to and follows me to the trunk of the car where I'm taking out our bags. I only have one suitcase and my backpack. She takes her suitcase but I insist on carrying the rest. “Good afternoon Alpha Leo.” Stefan my pilot greets me. “Good afternoon Stefan, is everything ready?” I asked him. “Yes, the jet passed all the tests, we are ready for take off.” He tells me. “Good, this is Lena Everhart, she'll be flying with us.” I tell him. “Nice to meet you.” S
Alpha Leo's POV. Lena gets up and takes the seat opposite me, so she's facing me, I guess there's no getting out of this. “Are you sure you really want to hear this? I don't think it's a good idea Lena.” I tell her, hoping she'll say no and I'll be able to get away from this. “Nothing you say is going to hurt or affect me, we're friends right? We agreed to be friends and friends talk to each other about stuff like this. Also I need to know a little more about Freya before we meet her, so I know what I'm expecting.” She tells me. “Ok, but remember friends also don't judge.” I tell her and she smiles. “Fine, no judgement, now spill.” She tells me, she looks like a kid in a theatre, I mean all that's missing is the popcorn. “Ok, after Scarlett left me, I was a shadow of myself, I didn't want to feel, I was basically just existing, I knew I couldn't stay back at the pack, my father was still alive at the time and he was seriously disappointed in me, he c
Lena's POV. After he answers my question, he closes his eyes and after a few minutes, his breathing evens out, I don't know if he's actually asleep or if he's pretending so I don't ask him any more questions. He hasn't talked to the girl he saved, the girl he considers his little sister for six years, what could he have possibly done? Six years, so they were still talking while we were together, all that time and I had no idea she was in his life. I guess it just shows even more how much I really didn't know him, he never really opened up to me, showed me all the parts of him, he just showed me what I wanted to see ans I fell for it. I just stare at him, how can one person inflict so much hurt and pain, the same person that has shown that he's capable of so much love and kindness, how is it possible? “I can feel you staring at me Lena.” He says but he doesn't open his eyes. I quickly avert my eyes. “I wasn't staring and I thought you were asleep.” I
Alpha Leo's POV. The drive into the heart of New Orleans which is the french quarter is in silence, I won't say the silence is comfortable, it's strained with tension caused by things left unsaid, things that neither of us are ready to talk about so we just stay in the silence. I don't know what happened on the plane or why I went of on her like that, it's just that I suddenly realised that the closer we get to finding a cure, the closer we get to Lena and the kids leaving and that is something I do not want to happen. “The city is really beautiful.” Lena says as she stares out her window. “Yes it is, it's alive with culture, they always have some kind of celebration, remembrance or feast everyday and then at night that when it really comes alive.” I tell her. “Maybe one day when we don't have a clock on our backs I can come back here, maybe I'll bring the kids too.” She tells me. “Yea that would be great.” I tell her and she stops looking out the wi
Alpha Leo's POV. She opens the door wider and me and Lena just step in, shocked. I thought she would've slammed the door on my face, I mean I was expecting it. But I was not expecting this at all, her being all calm and welcoming us in. I look around the house and see that she has done some remodelling. “The house looks amazing Freya.” I tell her. “Thank you, I had a phase where all I watched were home were home decorating shows, so I decided to experiment on the apartment.” She tells me as she leads us to the living room. “Please Selene, take a seat.” She tells Lena. “Actually I don't go by Selene anymore, it's now Lena.” Lena tells her. “Ok, please have a seat Lena.” Freya tells her and Lena leaves me and takes a seat on the couch. “Now, as for you big brother.” Freya turns to me and then her eyes turn purple ans the next thing I know I'm being thrown on the wall across the room. Yea I should've seen that coming. “How could you, I
Lena's POV. Well this trip is really shaping up, first Leo got his ass whopped by his sister and then there's the revelation of the vision. “What do you mean I called her name out in the vision, you never told me this.” Leo tells her, he looks so shocked and confused. “Because I only had that vision that night you Buffon, why do you think I called you? The person that's scared of electronics picked up a phone and called because I know if I sent a postcard by the time it got to you it would be too late. But you didn't want to hear anything I had to say.” She tells him and that shuts him up, he has such a guilty look on his face. “He wasn't really listening to anyone that day.” I tell her. “You said he called me Selene in the vision right?” I asked her. “Yes he did.” She tells me. “Well I don't want to say your vision is wrong, but maybe it's kind of redundant now because that isn't my name anymore, so it's possible that Leo's future has change
Lena's POV. She was there? I look over to Leo and he has the same stunned look that I'm sure I have on my face. “How old are you Freya?” Leo asks her. “Didn't your parents teach you that it's rude to ask a woman her age Leo?” Freya asks but she has a smile ok her face, I don't think she realises how shocking what she just dropped is. “I'm serious Freya, how old are you?” Leo asks her. “Fine, I'm over a thousand years old, after I got to a thousand I kind of just stopped counting.” She tells us. “A thou…. A thousand years?” I asked her. “Yes, you see this is why I don't like telling people my age because they get that same look that the both of you now have.” She tells us. “Well, you have to understand, this is a first that we've ever heard of, the only people that can live that long are vampires and vampires that are that old, they're very rare.” I tell her. “Yes, I know but I can assure you, I'm not a vampire. You can't be a
Alpha Leo's POV. We lock the four other men in a room we found in the warehouse, turns out they're human and not wolves so we made sure to take away their guns. Lex is tied to a chair, with ropes and chains and we injected him with a heavy dose of wolfsbane so even when he wakes up, he'll be too weak to escape. “Are you ready to do this?” I asked Freya. “Yea, find out where the pages are it should be easy, I don't think I will dive that deep and even if I have to, it will be more painful for him than for me.” She says. She steps behind Lex and places both hands on his head, she closes her eyes and she starts chanting. “What do you think he was doing here?” I asked Zeo. “I have no idea, but whatever it was I have a strong feeling that it wasn't good.” He says. “What do you mean?” I asked him. “Well, this particular dock is known for being used for illegal activities, the cartel's and the mafia run their goods th
Alpha Leo's POV. I look at the map to see where he is. “That's down by the docks, there's nothing there but warehouses.” I tell Freya. “Well, that's where he is now, the spell doesn't work like a GPS, if he leaves there, we are going to have to do another location spell again. So we need to get there now.” She tells us. “Alright then, lets go.” I tell her. “Wait, wait, wait, just wait.” Lena says as she holds up her hands. “You're about to walk into a situation that you know nothing about. What if he's not alone, what if he has his men with him, there's only three of you.” She tells us and she has a point. “I know that Lena, but we don't have a choice, more than half of the pack is sick and the ones that aren't, they won't leave their homes. We have to do this by ourselves. We'll be fine, I mean only Freya can take care of all of them with a flick of her wrist.” I tell her. “That is true.” Freya tells her. “Ok, but
Alpha Leo's POV. Zeo texted that they were on their way back and that something was wrong with Freya but he didn't go into details. So I grabbed the map I needed and here I was, waiting for them at the front door. A few minutes later, I hear his truck pull up and I open the front door. Freya looks like she's seen a ghost as she leans on Zeo and he walks her into the house. I go to the kitchen and grab a bottle if water for her then I meet them back in the living room. “Here, drink this.” I tell her as I hand her the bottle. She opens it up and takes a few sips. “You feel better?” I ask her. “A little.” She says. I take a seat next to her. “What happened back there? Were you able to get the signature?” I asked her. “Yes, I was and that's the problem.” She says. “I don't understand, what do you mean?” I ask her. “The witch's signature that was left there is one I recognise, it's one that I'm very familiar with. It belongs to my aunt Dahlia.” She tells me
Freya's POV. The pack is so quiet but Lena and Leo were right, it is beautiful. “So no one comes outside because of the disease?” I ask Zeo as he drives. “Yea, we don't know exactly how the disease spreads and why some people are sick and some aren't. So everyone just stays in. Every week, a truck delivers groceries and also another truck comes in to pick up the trash. They're humans so there's no chance of them getting infected.” He tells me. “That's really sad.” I tell him as I look out my window. “Yes it is and it's also hard to look at, this pack was so full of life and for it to be like this now, it's hard to watch.” He tells me. “What about you, did you have any family that was infected?” I ask him. “No, I lost my parents at a young age, they had my sister and I late in life, so they lived a full life. My sister is married, her husband is an Alpha of a pack back in Jersey. So thankfully she wasn't here when it hit.”
Alpha Leo's POV. I left the dining room but I didn't leave the house, I went to the patio to tell the kids goodbye and when Zeo came over, I left and that's when I heard her, it's not like I was purposely listening in or anything like that. The house was quiet and voices carried, so I heard what she said, she loves me but she doesn't trust me. That might discourage some people but not me, I have a smile on my face and a spring in my step as I walk to my car. Here I thought that all feelings she had from me had been stripped away after I rejected her but I was wrong. She loves me now all I need to do is prove to her that she can trust me with her heart again. I get to the house and I park my car, the pack is so quiet that if not from the sounds coming from the birds you would think that it was a graveyard. I put off the lockdown mode and walk into the house. I packed breakfast in a Tupperware from Lena's house because I'm pretty sure I have nothing in my kitc
Alpha Leo's POV. I can tell that she's nervous around me after what I said last night, but I can't tell if the nerves are good or bad. I meant what I said, I am going to win her back and it starts today, anytime that isn't spent looking for Lex, I'm dedicating that time to her. “Well, I'm going to check in on Elijah and find out if he had turned up anything. Then we'll need to head back to the house to get that map for Freya, plus I need to feed Scarlett.” I tell them. “You really put her down in the dungeon?” Zeo asks. “Yes and I also put the house in lockdown, she's not going anywhere.” I tell him. “I'm also going to need to go to the site where the spell was cast.” Freya says. “Why? If it's for the sludge that was running underneath the grounds, I already have a sample back at my lab.” I tell her. “No, it's not that. Usually when a witch or a warlock casts a spell, they leave their own signature behind. Not a little of witches can t
Lena's POV. After Leo's declaration last night, he kisses me on my cheek and left the house. I didn't plan on saying anything back to him but even if I wanted to, I couldn't, his words shocked me that I couldn't even form any words if I tried. The truth of the matter is I'm tired of being angry, it takes up a whole lot of energy and if you ask me, I've forgiven him, I mean I was ready to be friends with him for the sake of the kids, but to get back together with him and have a relationship. I'm not sure that I can do that, I mean I still love him I won't deny that, the problem here is trust, do I trust him with my heart? And the answer to that question is no, I do not. I mean last time he shattered my heart so badly that it took me years to put back together and it was never really the same. I toss and turn in bed, sleep eluding me because of the different scenarios that I keep on playing in my head. The first one being, if I never came back here to find a cure h
Alpha Leo's POV. “How are we going to do that, you're the one that said he was a ghost.” Zoey says. “I know that, but now we have his name. I've sent it to Elijah so I'm sure he'll be able to turn up something.” I tell her. “There might be another way, I'm not sure about it but it might work.” Freya says. “What's that?” I asked her. “If you guys really are brothers, then you share the same blood. So I might be able to track him using your blood.” She says. “And it will work?” I ask. “I'm not a hundred percent sure but it should.” She tells me. “What do you need?” I ask her. “I need a map and your blood, that's it.” She tells me. “Ok, I think there's a map back at the house and if there isn't one there, we'll get one.” I tell her. “So what exactly is the plan when you find him?” Zeo asks. “I'm still working that out, but first priority is finding those pages so the girls can make a cure.” I tell h
Alpha Leo's POV. “So, the day we got back from New Orleans, after Zeo and I left, the man I hired to trail Scarlett met us in the house, he found the evidence that I needed. Turns out she's been having an affair, but that wasn't the shocking news, what shocked us was the fact that the man in the video, the man Scarlett was sleeping with, Elijah couldn't find him, he wasn't on any database, he was a ghost. But he did have one distinct feature which was the birthmark that he had on his back, a birthmark that was the same as mine, in the same spot. A birthmark that is unique to my family line, it turns out that I have a brother.” I tell them and now all three of them look shocked. “Wait, wait a minute, so your wife is cheating on you with a brother that you knew nothing about, is that right?” Freya asks me. “That is correct.” I tell her. “This story is so good, I won't lie, but I'm confused.” Zoey tells me. “So was I, but everything will soon make sen
