The rest of the drive was done in silence, but there no longer existed that thick air around that had made me unable to breathe before, the thick air that made me start asking Philip some questions.

I took in a deep breath as I drove in the dark going straight to the mansion where Lyra belonged, where her mother was waiting for us.

I had lied to Philip. I knew exactly what was going to happen when we got there. Though Catherina was an unpredictable woman, I could predict how her reaction would be. How everything was going to turn out.
