Lyra's POV

I had no idea if I was really going to do what I was telling Asher. All I had said were just words to spite him if I actually believed him. His words, his deceit, his stories were all very common to me and I had gotten too used to it. I felt there was nothing he could say or do that I wouldn't be able to predict his next moves. What he had said in there a less than an hour ago was what had propelled me to look back and think about my life. I surely didn't want to stay in the dungeon forever, somehow, I had gotten used to living the high life with Philip.
