112. Ambushed

Nate scowled and let out a growl from his inner wolf.

Warning. danger.

How could he be aware of that?

"How are you aware of this?" Taking command of the situation, Ed enquired.

"I heard you two talking about it," he said, moving forward, "and I can lead the way."

"How do we know we can trust you?" Nate enquired.

"It's not possible," he said, his eyes brightening. "To find out, you'll have to take the risk." Nate was aware that the information was incomplete. He was warned not to trust that werewolf by his restless wolf. He looked to Ed, who was grinning contentedly. What Nate saw did not please him.

"Don't tell me you're thinking about trusting this stranger."

The smile faded as Ed met his gaze. He knows better than to trust his own shadow as a hunter. Ed was either going to be very confusing, or he had a strategy to make things right.

Ed surprised Nate by saying, "Let's take the risk. We have nothing to lose."
