(Celina’s POV)

I hadn’t seen Landon and Brody for days but I didn’t have to walk home alone since Austin and Paige always came to pick me. We wouldn’t always go home immediately, we would take detours where we could go and explore the forest. Paige would collect herbs while Austin made fun of her.

I felt out of place since Austin was a werewolf and Paige a witch, but I was just a regular human. But they always made me feel included.

I would feel the rough tree barks, the low hanging branches would snuggle on my hair, as the leaves gently scratched my face, the wind would whistle carrying the humming of the insects with it. I enjoyed our detours.

“Do you guys want to see something cool?” Paige asked bringing me out of my thoughts.

“I would love to see something cool.” I replied eagerly.

Austin crossed his arms, his eyes turning a bright grey colour, “I am something cool,” he stated cockily, but with a shrug he added, “but you can show us your thing.”

I chuckled at his childishness, it

(Celina’s POV)I sighed as I took a seat, grateful that the day was over. Today felt longer, and I felt more exhausted than usual.“Celina,” Andrew called out my name as he approached me, and before he could even take a seat, Austin and Paige walked in, arguing about something.“Okay, okay, then let’s ask Celina, and we can solve this once and for all.” Paige spoke over Austin, but they stopped when they reached the table where Andrew and I were seated.“What’s wrong?” Austin asked.Andrew shrugged.I was fighting the urge to cry.“He doesn’t care about me.” I blurted out, my voice breaking but still holding back my tears.Paige took a seat beside me as she pulled me in for a hug, but I backed away as I chuckled, trying to make it seem like I wasn’t bothered.“Landon came here?” She asked.“He did,” I replied, “but he didn’t even acknowledge me.” I snickered.Andrew looked at us, perplexed. He didn’t understand what was going on.“Landon is the alpha of the werewolf that took over our

(Landon's POV)I tried to steer Connor away from the diner where Celina worked, but I wasn't successful.I hadn't been there to see her, and it took everything in me not to go and see her, but when word got to the council of elders that I was able to locate the werewolf who killed my father, everything just had a mind of its own from there on.Suddenly I had to do this or that, and when Connor asked to speak to me, I knew it wasn't anything good.We walked into the diner, and I saw Celina’s face lighten up. I realized she missed me as much as I missed her, but I couldn't tell Connor that the person I loved was a human. As she approached, smelling her scent, I realized how much I had missed.“Hi, I'm...” She started, but I cut her short.“We'll have two coffees.” I said that without looking at her.I didn't need to look at her to know just how betrayed she felt. I could just feel it. But she didn't speak; she walked away to get us our order.“So what was so important that you couldn't

(Celina's POV)I didn't expect it to be Landon, who just kidnapped me from the bonfire.Under different circumstances, I would have been happy to see him, but not after how he treated me when he came to the diner.“Why are you here?” I asked as I looked around, clenching the blanket that I was covering myself with tight around me. It was cold in the forest.“I thought you'd be happy to see me?” He asked, confusion written all over his face.“I was glad to see you at the diner, remember?” I scoffed. “When you treated me like a stranger?” I asked as I started walking, “It’s late, and I have to go to bed.”He appeared in front of me and said, “I didn't mean to ignore you, but I can't let anyone know that you are the person I'm in love with.” He said this, and both my and his eyes widened.“You love me?” I was surprised. He sighed as he hung his head and said, “I do. I just don't know if you feel the same.”I didn't know how to react; I was happy, excited, and a variety of other emotions

(Celina's POV)I slept late after Austin, and I decided that it was time to go to bed. I just stared blankly at the ceiling as his words kept repeating themselves in my head.I didn't even know what I was feeling. Deep down, I knew it was fear, but I didn't want to accept it.I was strong, courageous, and confident.I didn't know what time I fell asleep, but I woke up when I heard the front door open and people were talking.I got out of bed and went to see who it was.“Look who is finally up!” Paige exclaimed.I sighed. “What time is it?” I asked.“We want to start making lunch; that's how late it is.” She replied, “What time did you sleep last night?”“Late. I was awake thinking...” I paused as Austin and I shared a look, “about what else we could do while we are here.” I lied.I wasn't ready for anyone to know about Landon's offer.“And what did you come up with?” Andrew asked; clearly, he hadn't sensed the slight tension.I sucked my teeth and said, “Umm... I don't remember. I gue

(Brody's POV)I went on a spiral of emotions when I saw my sweetheart's head on our bed. From sadness, to anger, to confusion, to denial then I just sunk into the darkness that my heart felt.I tracked down the rest of her body, which was lying in the same spot where I left her with her book just a few hours ago.It became worse when Ivory's pack came to mourn at our small village. Ivory's father didn't like me from the moment his eyes landed on me, and it didn't help our relationship that her daughter died when she was supposed to be protected by me.“You had one job!” He screamed after he saw his daughter, his head hanging and his fists clenching. He spun around so fast that I didn’t have a moment to think before he grabbed me by the neck and held me up against a wall. “What is stopping me from detaching your head from your body like you let someone do to my daughter?!” He growled. But when he held me up against that wall, I saw Ivory; she was dead, but she still looked so beautiful

(Paige’s POV)I wasn't friends with Landon, but I rather owed him a favour when he saved me from a pack of savage werewolves that were about to have me for their supper. I knew that owing a werewolf a favour wasn't the nicest thing, and I dreaded the day when he would decide to cash in on the favour. When he appeared to me from seemingly out of nowhere, I felt the hairs on the back of my neck stand up as I waited with baited breath for what he was going to ask of me.“I need you to help someone become a werewolf; can you do that?” He asked without even bothering to greet me. But then again we weren’t friends.I was surprised by that question.“Can't people just turn into werewolves by a bite from a werewolf?” I asked with a raise eyebrow.“Can you or can you not do it?!” He barked, his eyes turning a shade of red to show just how impatient he was, and my silly questions weren't helping.“I can,” I replied, hoping my voice didn’t show just how afraid of him I was.“Then let's go.” He s

(Celina's POV)I was seated beside the lake, watching the orange glow from the sun cover the lake as the sun set. The thought of Landon and I here, his arm wrapped around me as I leaned on his shoulder, made me remember why I wasn’t at the lake with him to begin with. I frowned as I hugged my legs.“Celina, there you are.” Austin said as he walked up to me from behind.I sighed. “Stop acting like you've been looking for me; you already knew where I was.” I replied without turning to look at him.He slowly made his way to me as he sat beside me. “Brody wanted to come find you immediately, but I offered to be the one to come and find you.” He replied, “But I thought you might want some time alone, so I didn't approach you till now.”I looked at him and smiled. “You are a great guy.”“I know,” he said proudly. We looked at each other and laughed.“So,” He said.“So,” I said with a sigh.“You should hear him out.” Austin suggested.I scoffed: “You heard what he said, right?” I asked, “He

(Celina's POV)Austin and Brody had dug a hole where they buried Claire. Paige was acting like she didn't rip a woman's head off, humming as she asked us what we should do tonight.“Did you have to kill her in front of us?” Andrew asked, finally speaking for the first time after a few hours.I keep forgetting he was the only one among us who hadn't been through trauma right in front of his eyes. I saw my parents die, so did Brody, and Austin and Paige were supernatural. I assume they have seen their fair share of dead bodies.I moved closer to him and hugged him.Come to think of it, considering how young I was when my parents were killed, I was oddly unaffected by it. Or was it because, when I was much younger, I saw my biological parents also get murdered? This had opened a gate I had no idea needed to be opened.“I think I should go back to my pack.” Brody said as he walked back into the cabin, looking the same as when he left. I speculated on the benefits of being a werewolf.“I d

(Jane’s POV)I didn’t have to do much to get Landon’s attention away from me. Even I froze when my eyes locked on where Landon was facing. There was a werewolf that seemed to have sensed our arrival and was looking right at us, but Landon didn’t even seem to notice, with his eyes transfixed at… my gaze following his. What the hell was going on here? I wondered as I looked at the werewolf, strung up like a sacrifice.Landon almost instinctively lunged towards the werewolf, who now had its back turned to us. Celina, I guessed, as I watched him confront the other werewolves, who were now attentive and standing guard.I looked at the door and headed for it. If my research was right, Theresa, the witch, would be able to reverse the curse. It had been someone in her bloodline—her mother was my guess—so she should do just fine.At least that is what I hoped. The door was open. It ma

I guess he forgot that most of us were werewolves. No one wanted to volunteer, so I guess I was the one to do this.I stepped forward, “How do we go about sedating her?
