**Estelle's POV**
“Ignore them, Estelle. Just ignore them,” I comforted myself inwardly as I made way through the crowds of hostile gazes pointing at me. I was used to it anyway; after all, they weren't going to kill me or anything.
As I continued to walk toward the plaza, I shut my eyes, and ignored the glares everyone was giving me.
I was delighted in the fact that the mating convention was taking place, meaning that I would finally get my mate and heal. The mating convention was a ceremony that happened every year, where the wolves that had turned 18 would all gather to get blessed and encounter their mates. I turned 18 today, and it was just in time for the season of the mating convention. I couldn't wait to get my mate and leave this hellhole called a pack.
No one around here liked me because I was mute. Yeah, I was the only disabled wolf in the pack and that made people distance themselves from me. They bully, insult and call me all kinds of names, but I endured it all. It was not the fault being born mute, just that fate decided to play a fast one on me.
I was told my mother died immediately after giving birth to me and I developed a high fever, then they discovered I was no longer able to speak. I grew to live with it but when the pack doctor told me I could be cured, my joy was boundless, but my hope was shattered when my father refused to pay the bills and decided to use it instead for my pregnant stepmother and her unborn child.
And since then, I've been in this situation, feeling bad whenever I had the urge to share my views on interesting matters and couldn't because of my condition. No matter how much I wanted to, I could never voice those thoughts. So, I had to endure these horrible stares as well as the hateful remarks.
But I still had another hope, and that was the mating convention. If I could find my mate here, I'm sure I'll be cured as time goes on because only I know that I am not completely mute. Even though I can't speak, I can form voices.
Suddenly, the atmosphere changed and I started sweating. I took a handkerchief and wiped my face with it, but the sweat wasn't stopping.
Despite the hostile glares people threw my way, I kept walking, trying to ignore the feeling of someone staring at me. It was becoming more difficult to pretend I didn't feel it anymore, especially when the smell of fear permeated the air. My steps slowed down. I stopped walking altogether. And I stood there like a statue, my hands trembling.
When I turned, I could see that the eyes of the male wolves present had turned red and bloody. Fear gripped me when their fangs shot out, and they gathered themselves together, approaching me. I instinctively started taking steps back.
“Mate!” They growled as they advanced towards me, and my eyes widened. What the heck were they talking about? Me? Mate?
The way they looked at me like they wanted to attack or possess me sent cold shivers down my spine. Instantly, I turned to run and they grabbed, pulling me into their midst.
I shook my head in protest when one wanted to touch me, but he ignored me and started touching my face. Oh, how I wanted to yell and tell them to get the fucking hell away from me! But I knew my voice wouldn't work. All that came out of my mouth was small whimpers when they touched my body.
Their eyes flashed with anger while they pushed me closer to each other. My knees buckled, the ground spinning. When I tried to stand again, I heard several gasps. I looked up and saw them surrounding me, while some were even looking down at me and licking my hair.
My heart was pounding furiously against my chest and I felt faint as the tears streamed down my face.
Before I could process what was happening, they started tearing off my clothes. I fought with them and made another attempt to escape, but it was futile. They dragged and pulled me while muttering, “Mate.” Everything was thrown into chaos, and I was hurt when no one came to my aid, not even the wolves passing by. Who was I kidding? They hated me and I could swear they were happy seeing me like this.
I caught sight of a car stopping in the plaza, and my face lit up with hope when I saw my father step down, followed by Alpha Cedric as they approached us. My father saw how I was being treated and being the beta, I was hoping for him to calm everyone down, to yell at the male werewolves harassing me and making them stop, but my heart shattered when my father did not come to my aid. Instead, he turned his face away from me and walked away.
I felt hurt and betrayed as the one person I relied on, let me down. I struggled with them the more, and their grips on me loosened. When I tried to make a run for it again, they caught me and put me on the floor.
I used my hands to beg them to stop, doing all sorts of demonstrations I could think of, but they were hell-bent on undressing me. Why weren't people helping me? Was that how much they despised me?
I continued struggling, but then a unique scent caught my attention. Inhaling it alone made me feel at peace, and I sniffed, wanting to get more of it. No one was coming to save me, that I know, so before they had their way, I decided to follow that scent.
I fought off the male werewolves and rushed out of their mates, running straight into the Alpha's arms.
Everyone gasped, and I realized I might have just landed myself in a big shit.
**Alpha Cedric's POV**My face registered shock the moment she fell in my arms. My body froze for a second as her scent hit me hard. There and then, I knew who she was, but there was something about her that seemed off. Why wasn't she affected by my Alpha aura? What exactly happened? She held me tighter, not wanting to let me go while I scrutinized the crowd with my eyes.Everyone gasped the moment they saw her rush into his arms. They must be terrified for her, knowing fully well that no one was allowed to go close to me because of the Aura I emanated. The Male werewolves didn't come close to her anymore, but retreated. The Beta was shocked to see what she had done. He was trembling with fear and rushed to me with the aim of yanking her away from me, but he got affected by my aura too and stepped back.I pulled her away from myself and lifted her chin, so I could look into her eyes. I wanted to see what she was hiding in those orbs that stopped her from getting affected by my power.
**Estelle's POV**I groaned as I woke up. My eyes shot open when I realized the place I was in. It was a shabby camp. They were other slaves in the apartment too, and the joy I momentarily felt died down. How stupid I was!I remembered making a sound when those wolves wanted to grab me and recalled how Alpha Cedric looked back at me with shock written all over his face. Even though he hid the shock and surprise under his calmness, I saw right through it. I was thinking he would take me, but before I could hear anything else, I was knocked unconscious. My father didn't help her, and neither did my mate.I felt hurt and devastated. I really should stop putting my hopes up over every little thing.Looking around, she saw diverse kinds of slaves. Some were old men while others, children. The ones that were older than me had been taken by the other masters and were kept away from us. One woman was crying quietly because she lost her child. It was heartbreaking seeing this kind of woman wh
**Estelle's POV**I struggled with him as he held my neck, trying to make a sound, but nothing came out of my mouth. I looked at him tearfully, hoping he would just feel remorseful and let me go, but he didn't and only pinned me to the wall more. His face held anger and sadness as his grip on my neck tightened. From the way he looked at me, one could tell that he hated me so much. He looked at me with sheer hatred etched into his features, and tears rolled down my cheeks.I was running out of air and tried to make a sound for him to stop, using my hands and fingers. He looked at my gesture and frowned.“Say something, dammit!” He growled and his grip on my neck tightened. “Just say something already!” He grabbed hold of my neck hard as tears fell from my eyes in torrents.I tried hard to say something; I tried to open my mouth, but what came out were short gasps and panting. It felt like I couldn't catch my breath. I looked at him pleadingly as sweat covered his features. How do I tel
**Estelle's POV**I couldn't stand her impudence and accepted the Alpha's arrangement for me, so I sat still and allowed her to inject the suppressant into my system. I winced in pain and she scoffed. When she was done, I didn't wait for her to tell me to leave and stood up by myself then got out of the ward. My heart ached as I walked past a few couples in the ward, and was a bit delighted since I wasn't attacked by any of the single wolves there. The suppressant was working perfectly and I liked it.I suddenly realized that the only way I can live is to stay in this pack with the Alpha. If by chance I left his side, I might get kidnapped and worse, get killed. As much as I am safe with him, and the fact that he would protect me, I was very terrified of him. He was scary. I sighed at the thought and facepalmed as I gently made my way to the palace.****The following day, the Alpha made sure I did almost all the chores in the palace, but I mainly focused on his room and his study, s
**Alpha's Cedric pov** There was something off about Estelle tonight, but I couldn't quite place my finger on it. Her movements were fidgety and she trembled- not that she never trembled around me, but today she was more scared than usual. I ignored it however. I had heard she was bullied at the training centre yesterday, so I guess she might be scared of what to expect tomorrow because she's definitely going there again. The least I can do other than make her mute and unable to voice out her thoughts and feelings was to get her to be strong. I couldn't condone weakness around me in the slightest- and according to the women at the training center after I got reports. 'She is as weak as a feather.' Now, she was bent over me, setting my favorite bottle of wine right down before the round pool table before me, torturing me with the scent of her. I may have used a suppressant on her, but somehow she was able to still entice me with her scent. She tried leaving, but I ordere
**Estelle's pov** My heart was pounding hard against my chest as I watched him come for me, and the next second, I was pinned to the wall with his hand around my neck. My legs were up above the ground kicking violently, and my face was red as all the blood had rushed up there instantly. My vision was slowly fading and I feared that he was going to try to kill me immediately. If he wanted to kill me now, then I deserved It. I didn't know If I loved him too much to not see him die before me or If I was just too stupid. My father was right- I was really just a big dissapointment. I couldn't even do anything right. Blame my stupid empathetic heart. I tried pleading- but it came out in raspy voices as usual, and my grip tightening on the hand grabbing onto my neck was useless. His hold around my neck was like an unmovable steel and his eyes searching deep into mine was like a larva melting iron. "I'm done playing around Estelle. You tell me the truth right now or .. " a cry, so
**Alpha Cedric's pov** The moment I had stepped into the living room, dragging my mate behind me, I knew at that moment who was responsible for the attempted murder. These cowards didn't have the guts to actually poison me so they decided to use their own family as bait. I threw her to the ground and stood over her, sneaking glances at her father, irritated by how he chose to put all the blame on her. I waited for them to confess and admit to their mistakes, but he actually had the audacity to slap her right across the face. I couldn't explain why my heart twisted in anger and rage seeing the burning sensation on her cheek before her father gripped her shoulders. I noted the knowing looks they exchanged before he tried to pull her up, but I suddenly grabbed a gun and cocked it, watching as he retreated while Estelle turned to me. The horror and fear In her eyes made me think she was actually going to expose her father, but she didn't. Infact, she was ready to die than exp
**Estelle's POV** My whole nerves were like slack after he said that he would not kill my father or my brother. That was enough and I couldn't ask for more, considering my current situation. After he came out, I cleaned up the mess as he ordered, ignoring the smell of wine still surrounding my head. But I thought it would be better if I cleaned myself first so this poisoned wine wouldn't contaminate the room. So, I went back to my room to wash my face and change clothes. When I saw how much my laundry was, my shoulders suddenly ached. When I returned to his room, I saw him standing looking at the mess I hadn't cleaned up. I don't want him to think I'm lazy and do it on purpose. So, I walked over to him and made a sign to say that I went back to my room to clean myself up first. I guessed that satisfied him a bit with my thoroughness, and I hope I didn't overdo it because he was rarely ever satisfied by anything. “It's good that you still pay attention to small things even after t
**Estelle's POV**Someone came to celebrate me and Alpha Cedric's arrival. And she was Scarlett. She came with flowers as if she cared about me. She handed it over to me but her gaze seemed to hate me so much. “Welcome, Estelle! I heard cheers along the way when I was at home. And it turns out you've come back. So, how's your treatment going?"I was sure she thought my therapy was a failure because I came home before my pre-arranged schedule.Alpha Cedric grabbed my hand so I didn't have time to answer him. He whispered, “Ignore her! Come on!"So, I obeyed his orders. As my feet moved away, Scarlett chuckled, "Why are you avoiding me as if I'm a threat to you?"Alpha Cedric frowned. He must have thought Scarlett was crazy. No one here considered her a threat. She was just a useless louse. She walked
**Estelle's POV**“Alpha, why didn't you answer me? You're free from the curse, right?" I was worried when I asked that question, worried that I might end up getting an answer I didn't expect.Oh, we'd found the one who cursed us. Alpha Cedric had beaten them. In the classic case, our curse should have disappeared right? So why didn't he answer me loudly and confidently? He just looked down, looking very sad."You make me think that the curse hasn't been removed from your body." I wanted to cry when he finally looked up and held my fingers as if giving an instant answer.Doctor Gordon left us for a while. He reasoned that he wanted to get drinking water from his earthen jug, which was placed in the kitchen. It gave me time with Alpha Cedric. I thought he did that on purpose so Alpha Cedric could talk to me freely.Alpha Cedric looked me straight
**Alpha Cedric's POV**We were cornered because of the many hybrids surrounding us. And if we sprayed them with a paralytic potion, it might not work completely. Our backs were pressed against each other, keeping no gaps for the enemies.“Alpha, do you think we’re going to die?” he asked. He didn't sound scared at all, instead, he sounded very gentle and calm.I wouldn't believe it if I didn't hear it with my ears."We will not die!" I dodged when a hybrid tried to spit at me. "We will definitely win." I whistled. It echoed across the walls of the cave and must have been heard by all of our soldiers.Soon they appeared, hanging in various places. The cave had holes so they could slip in between. While a few of them charged through the entrance."Attack them!" The Gammas shouted. They sprayed t
**Alpha Cedric's POV**Alpha Daren was standing behind the gate, waiting for Prince and me. Did they already know what I mean? I didn’t think so."Welcome, Alpha," said Alpha Daren welcomingly. He let me in.I got out of the car and followed Alpha Daren. He led me to the guest hall. I was not sure why Prince accompanied him.“Please sit down, Alpha!”I nodded and sat down in a comfortable chair. As usual in front of me was always filled with delicious and fresh food. A pitcher filled with very fresh water. I chugged it all and wiped my mouth."It's amazing that you came without making an appointment, Alpha. Is there a serious problem going on?” he asked.Without responding, I pulled out a report document to him and handed it over. I glanced at Prince, giving him information signals. But
**Alpha Cedric's POV**“Damn Scarlett! I will kill her!” Roland couldn't contain his anger. He had wanted to go to Scarlett's house to slap her.But I endured him. "Don't let her know anything about my mission, Roland!" I said, staring at him seriously. He groaned because he knew there was no way to refute me. “But she almost killed Estelle, Alpha. Are you going to let her do this?” He pointed at the letter in my hand.“She failed to do so.” Although I was also very angry. “If we get too hasty, I'm afraid she might just mess things up. You know I've worked hard to get to this point, right?" And I thought again of Estelle. Finally, Roland gave up. He rubbed his forehead roughly then forgot the letter I had received from Estelle. He packed a few more things and tried to ignore me. It didn't take long before he st
**Estelle's POV**A man emerged from the darkness of the forest with a head full of blood!I suddenly trembled as I wondered who that man was. Two of Doctor Gordon's students grabbed the firewood in each hand. They were agile enough to deal with dangerous situations, indicating that this was not the first time."Go!" snapped Doctor Gordon. His booming voice made the two soldiers who were supposed to be guarding me suddenly startled. Then they turned to Doctor Gordon, turning in the direction where Doctor Gordon was looking. Immediately they knew what we were dealing with. They raised their swords respectively, dashing to approach the bloodied man, probably about to draw their swords to death. But Doctor Gordon forbade them to hurt him. “Bring him here alive! I will ask him something!”Doctor Gordon'
**Estelle's POV**"Why is it interfering with my therapy, Doctor?" I got so nervous when I imagine bad things. Was Doctor Gordon going somewhere that I had to stop getting therapy? Or would this research process injure him so he would have to pause until he recovered? My wolf matched my worries. It even cried when imagining our bleak days back. My ever-growing voice seemed meaningless to it."Are you going to stop doing therapy on Estelle?" It was Alpha Cedric who was most definitely against the idea. I could understand it. He paid for all of this. Besides that, I was sure he hoped I could quickly return to the pack.Doctor Gordon shook his head and denied our worries. "I'm not going to stop the therapy. I'd still do it but maybe some of my therapy schedules would be reduced. I should spend more time on the research I'm doing. This is in the common interest.”
**Estelle's POV**I studied Alpha Cedric's hands. They looked fine, didn't even have a single scratch. Then I turned to Doctor Gordon, trying to come up with an answer."This is very strange." He rubbed his chin occasionally, still studying Alpha Cedric's hands. "Where did you get the poison?""Here." Alpha Cedric pointed at an area in his right hand.I was not very a good observer. But I watched that point with focus. And still, I found nothing. Was he lying? I was sure he was not lying.“You should have been seriously injured from that poison. And even though you won't die, since they've been crippled, at least your hands will leave scars.”Alpha Cedric frowned in surprise. "Really?" He checked his hands. "But it's fine.""Yeah, and that's what confused me."
**Alpha Cedric's POV**Tens of footsteps surrounded us, surrounding us from all directions! The leaves of the gigantic plants blocking the sunlight light us up nicely. It was still the middle of the day, but it felt like we were exploring in the late afternoon.Prince drew his sword and shouted at his members, “Prepare your weapons! Maybe it's the hybrids!”I could see the fear on the members' faces, as well as mine. But I assured them that there was nothing to be afraid of.“Have you guys forgotten that I carry the strongest weapon?” I said to my members. We stood in a circular formation, back to each other. While the footsteps were getting closer, more and more.I looked around warily, trying to find the nearest enemy position. Now neither of us was cutting down those gigantic plants. We focused on saving ourselves.
