DEL MORINO

The morning sunlight pushed

through the tall curtains, casting

a soft glow over my luxurious

room.

The cool morning air brushed in, making me welcome it all.

I stretched lazily, a smirk

tugging at my lips. Last night had

been... entertaining. Tammy had

been eager to please, but that

was to be expected.

Women like

her always tried too hard, hoping

to stay longer than l allowed.

But right now, I'd no use for her ,just as I had no uses for other women I had met and slept with.

I rolled over, expecting her to still

be in bed. But my hand landed on

an empty, cold sheet.

Damn.

I just hoped this was not an thief , not after dealing the other one who I'd banished.

My eyes snapped open. Where had she

gone?

The twerp.

I sat up and scanned the

room. There she was, by the

dresser, standing in front of the

mirror like she owned the place.

Anger surged through me. The audacity.

She hummed to herself, her

DEL MORINO I stood before the gilded mirror in my chamber, adjusting the tailored midnight-blue suit that hugged my broad frame with practiced precision. The silver embroidery on the cuffs shimmered under the light, catching the glint of my one visible eye. My left was still hidden beneath the mask-sleek, black, and unyielding,as much a part of me now as my very skin. The mask made others uneasy. That suited me fine. Fear was a tool, and I wielded it as deftly as any weapon. With a snap of my fingers, my valet scurried forward, his hands trembling as he presented my onyx cufflinks. He fastened them silently, his head bowed as if afraid to meet my gaze."Enough," I growled. He stumbled back with a muttered apology, and I turned sharply, my polished shoes clicking against the marble floor. The banquet awaited. The same banquet I had conveniently told Layla was postponed.I laughed silently to myself when I remembered the shock on her face, I guess even Lord Thomas will be surprised tha

LAYLA "Get her! " I heard as an arrow whizzed passed my left check drawing out blood. Branches slapped against my face as I sprinted through the forest, lungs burning with each breath. The footsteps behind me were getting closer. Whoever they were , they weren't stopping and neither would I. We were just teenagers when it all happened. The day I lost everything FLASHBACK "Layla! Run! Don't look back!" My mother's voice rang out ,her usual calmness shattered by fear. The trees around us blurred as I stumbled through the underbrush, my heart racing,my wolf clawing at me, begging to be let out. But I couldn't. My parents had told me not to shift . Not yet. I turned back ,the scent of blood ,the sound of snarls filling the air. Rogue wolves. Dozens of them. My father's howl echoed through the forest ,a warning and a plea. What choice did I have? When your own mate looks at you like... you are less than dirt... What's left to fight for? The one I had loved for three years. Drake — the Alpha of Silver Crescent, the man I thought would chose me as his Luna— had thrown me aside like yesterday's trash. I thought I could endure anything for him. Three years of being overlooked , waiting for him to see me . To love me. But when his cold eyes met mine at the ceremony.... I knew. I was never going to be enough. I had begged silently for him to consider, to change his mind but nothing. Instead he had chosen the Beta's daughter over me. Ugly and wolfless That what was he had called me. The tears couldn't stop as I was been led out of the pack very early in the morning. Allowing me to spend the night was the only good he had done for me. The pack was no longer my home and I cried silently as we got to the ends of the pack ,guards flanked by my sides like I had committed a heinous crime. I couldn't stay

Pregnant? The word echoed in my mind like a distant bell, its sound growing louder until it consumed me. I laughed, but it wasn't a laugh of joy . It was sharp, bitter, like something dark clawing its way up my throat. How could this be real? It felt like a cruel dream, and any moment now, I'd wake up in my tiny cabin — still heartbroken, but not pregnant. Not like this . "Are you serious?"My voice trembled, barely holding back the storm of emotions building inside me. I glanced at the man who had helped me ,his expression unreadable. He didn't finch, though. My hands trembled, gripping the blanket tightly. My heartbeat felt like a drum in my chest ,fast and erratic. "I wouldn't joke about something like that ?" He said softly, his tone unusually gentle. "The physician was certain." I swallowed hard. There had been no one else— Drake . The thought of carrying his child, afterall that had happened, twisted my stomach into knots. " I saw you at the Alpha's Mating ceremony, rumour

I placed my hands slightly over my stomach and felt my child growing. "We are going to be fine." I whispered softly, hoping my words could erase the dread I had been feeling inside me The marketplace was very busy, with the scent of fresh bread and grilled meat, mixed with the underlying scent of sweat and heat. People rushed by ,merchant shouted over one another and the crowd bustled as if the world was still normal— for them at least. DEL MORINO It was raining heavily and the storm outside raged on,shaking the walls of my room.Lightening struck across the sky, illuminating my room in an instant. Itwas as if the weather shared thechaos inside my mind.I heard the thunder rumble even before I woke up with a jolt, drenched in sweat, my heart drumming in my ears, racing as if it could break free from my chest. It was the same dream. No spirits, nosaviors-just me and thememories. Memories I wanted to stop everyday but every night they reappear.I missed Fay. A lot. But the nightmares, I just wanted them to stop already. DEL MORINO I stood looking out of the window on the moonlit night, I couldn't stop thinking about Layla. The vodka in my glass wasn't cold anymore, just like how my heart felt.My other hand rested in my pocket, a habit I'd developed over the years to hide my clenched fist. The memory of Layla's attempted escape simmered in my mind, growing my anger. I could still picture her desperate eyes, but I quickly pushed that image away. Weakness was not an option; not now. The punishment I had imposed was necessary—she needed to grasp the repercussions of defying me.As I thought about her, the memory of my late mate, crept into my thoughts. Layla looked so much like her that it was almost scary - they both had bright green eyes and dark black hair. It felt like fate was teasing me, making me remember the person I had lost."Your Majesty," a soft voice broke into my thoughts.I turned to see a middle-aged maid, her silver hair neatly arranged at the back of her neck. "Dinner is served, sir

LAYLAAs we got to the Packhouse, I felt my breath hitch in my throat. The immense structure stood high against the bright sky ,its imposing presence both awe-inspiring and frightening. Each stone seemed deliberately placed to show respect, representing the might of its ruler—the Lycan King, Alpha of Alphas. I haven't taken my time to have a look at the Packhouse since I arrived, I guess it's the biggest I have ever seen and no Alpha could boast of a Packhouse like this one.I risked a glance at him as he dismounted effortlessly, his figure intimidating that I quickly looked away.He didn’t look back to see if I would follow, but I was expected to. His presence commanded fear and respect in me, that all through the walk here ,I was very quiet.Clenching my teeth, I stood aside , my eyes roaming and seeing the guards stationed at various places. I didn't see them when I ran out this morning.I felt my heart beating fast as I followed him, each step filled with a sense of worry about

I forced myself to open my eyes, squinting against the murky depths.I wasn't alone.A figure floated just inches away, his gaze fixed on mine. Before I could react, he raised a finger to his lips, silently signaling me to remain quiet. I didn't even need to nod—there was something about him that commanded my obedience.I heard footsteps crunching above, voices whispering anxiously as they searched. For something. For someone."Are you sure she was here?" A man asked." Yessir." Another reply." Stupid damn omega had no scent." A gruffy voice added. My heart quickened—I'd thought I was alone . Who were those guys? The voices faded, but the man stayed momentarily, as if ensuring it was genuinely safe.
