Chapter 7

**VANIS POV**

My heart leapt into my throat, and I blinked rapidly, wondering what the important information was. The atmosphere grew silent for some minutes, so I gave her a questioning look. Isn't it too early to know the secrets around this palace?

" It's about Hailey, she is in love with dad. Well, I've seen her severally stare lustfully at him and she craves power. I did think that the moon goddess would merge her as my dad's mate. I prayed against that and I'm so glad it didn't happen. " She sighed.

" Oh! About that, I noticed. She didn't welcome me into the palace like you guys did. I knew she had something up her sleeve and was up to no good but I just played along. " I said, and she gave me a confused look. Probably, wondering how I knew. It was obvious and she also had to push me off a cliff to get rid of me.

" Why don't we set her up? Maybe put her in a trap or something." She suggested. 

" How..." The nurse interrupted by coming in with some file in her hands.

“We carried out some tests and found out you are free to go, your injuries healed themselves, the Alpha thought you would barely survive the fall. It's a miracle you're still alive.,” she announced. 

All the air left my lungs and my breaths turned into shaky and labored ones. 

“What? Oh! Yes, of course my case was critical.?” I asked weakly, my heart about to fly out of my chest. 

She nodded, leaving the ward with a smile on her face.

“We need to leave now, there are alot of things I want you to know about!” Vani said, helping me up on my feet.

I shook my head, feeling frustrated and scared too. I spent just a day or should I say some hours in the mansion and someone wanted me dead. Oh moon goddess! Please guide me through this path .

“You will be fine. Are you okay?” She stammered, bringing me back to my thoughts. 

“ Yea, Yea.

“Please,” I begged, desperation intertwined with my voice. “I beg of you, do not tell your  father,” my lips trembled. 

I chanced a glance at the door before returning my eyes to her pale face and clasping my fingers together.

“Please, let this be between us. If he finds out, he might reject me again and I do not think my fragile heart can take two rejections,” I pleaded, tears glistening in my eyes. “Please.”

" Two rejections? What do you mean by that?" She asked.

I shouldn't have said that, I should have kept it in.

We walked to the car, Derrick and Hailey left immediately they got the call in the ward. Vani said it must have been something really urgent.

" I need to know about that your ex mate." She said holding my hands into hers.

" It's past now, I don't think it is important anymore." I said burning my face on her chest.

" It is important. The pack is quite selective, the elders." She said.Picking you as a mate can be kind of foggy.

" I was sold off because I was a mate to an Alpha in my pack. He rejected me because I was weak and according to him. He can't stand the chance to see my face. He hated the fact that I was going to produce a weak pup for him. I felt down and devastated, I never knew the moon goddess had her own plans for me." I smiled.

" Wow! He is a d*ck" she cursed. " I bet he is still a kid, maybe a ruler of a small pack, he can't just predict your future on his own, anyway I'm Grateful he rejected you. My dad wouldn't have met you if he didn't , I'm so happy he did." She giggled.

" Yea! What a prayer request." I said bursting into laughter.

" Going back to the lion's den!" I sighed.

" My palace? A lion's den? It isn't! It's a place for joy but a lion came to join the beautiful peacock in it." She said, rolling her eyes.

" A lion? Who is the Lion Vani?" I asked, pretending to know nothing about what she said. She was referring to Hailey, I couldn't help but wonder how she did make the poor little girl's life a living hell.

" The witch of course, she could have killed me a long time ago, if she had the castle in her hands." She scoffed.

" Don't speak about her that way, Vani. She might just be hurt, maybe from her past." I said, staring at the sky scraper out the window.

**ELDERS MEETING**

" The Elders are contemplating on the judgment to pass to your mate right now. She broke the sacred law and must be punished;" Hailey said, as they walked down the hallway.

" That is my choice to decide not to be there's .....they don't have any say in this matter!"  Alpha Derrick scoffed.

" All! All hail the Alpha of the seven green Field" The elders greeted in Union.

" All hail, the elders of the seven green fields." He replied without hesitation.

" Where is the Luna Alpha? We heard she is an Omega and you accepted her that way Alpha? That's not right!" Elder Monarch commented.

" That's not all, she even tried committing suicide, she plans on staining the hands of our children in this pack. This can affect our grade in the pack society if we aren't careful. We are glad the moon goddess brought her back to life. I think, she should leave now before she causes any more harm to us.."  Elder Cane said, hitting the desk.

" This isn't just your home Mi Lord , but a woman to your ancestors too. You can't change the rule, we need to eliminate her immediately, that's the only way to keep the secret hidden from the public. They are already suspicious that you killed your wife with her bare hands, That news should be known in and within the palace walls alone!" Elder Kyle, added. His wife! A secret he buried a long time ago…
