Chapter 39 - Gianna

I had not been able to shake the fact that it was likely Mason’s friend who had been standing right behind Tavi and me in the queue in the coffee shop, and more than likely listening in to our conversation. I am sure that was who he was. I had thought I recognized his face the moment he walked into the coffee shop. But, while his face looked vaguely familiar, I had been unable to place it, because the night I had seen him my main focus had been Mason. But, the more I thought of it, I was sure it was Mason's friend. And, I was more and more sure he had heard more than I would have wanted him to. No, I think it was almost a certainty that he was listening in, considering he almost choked at Tavi's inappropriateness.

My mind had been distracted all the way through my shift, unable to help myself but ponder whether his friend would have told Mason what he had heard. And when that wasn’t on my mind, my eyes were back and forth to the door, wondering why Mason hadn’t decided to come and vi
