Oh my... How will it unfold I wonder? Thoughts? Much love, Larose Semsem
Jade’s pov:There was absolutely nothing quite as blissful as waking up in your mate’s arms. Alex had exhausted himself as of late. Nevertheless, the moment I moved ever so slightly to have a better look at his face, he stirred awake.“Go back to sleep, love,” he grumbled sleepily, his arms tightening around me ever so slightly.“It’s 5 am,” I told him in a soft tone of voice. “We have training in one hour.”“Exactly,” he said petulantly, much like a child denied candy would, “One hour to go still.”“I wanna have a shower first,” I explained before kissing the corner of his mouth.“Are you seducing me?” He opened one eye to look at me.“No, you go back to sleep, Alex,” I told him as I caressed his hair lovingly. “You’ve been having a hectic schedule lately.”“You’re too much of a temptress,” he said, no hint of sleepiness in his voice, as he stretched, and popped his neck joint, before a wicked smile played on his lips, “If I ever were to deny myself your touch, love, you need to under
Jade’s pov: It was Tuesday, and only 2 days remained till Jessica’s trial. I would not care so much about her, if her issue hadn’t divided the pack, thanks to her father’s ill tongue. I hated that many pack members assumed I was jealous of her past with Alex, and thus decided to take action against her… When it was quite the opposite. She was jealous of what I had with him, and thought it was a wise idea to babble about my being a born healer. I was on edge for some reason that was beyond me, but I dismissed it as nerves because of the impending unjustified war. Born healer or not, I just wanted to be Alex’s mate and luna, and live in peace… and this was tiring. I loved training, whether I was going to put my skills to use or not, and I loved listening to Alex devising strategy with Luc and Trevor, but it sometimes felt too real. My previous pack naturally caught wind of the news, and their insolence was unmathced. The beta dared to call my parents and demand answers from them. A
Jade’s pov: “You had me worried, so damn much, I wonder what kind of punishment would be most appropriate to you…” Alex all but chewed my head off. I could understand his worry. Hell, what annoyed me the most was that their reasoning made a lot of sense… But it was still a hard pill to swallow. When he was done, I said stubbornly, “I was born to two proud warriors, and I will be damned if I let a couple of rogues frighten me into hiding.” He heaved a sigh and then said, pinching the bridge of his nose, “I know, love. Don’t get me wrong. I know you can handle yourself, but my wolf wouldn’t let me fight with a clear head if I knew you to be in danger.”“Sounds to me like it is your wolf who needs some discipline,” I said only half teasingly, to which I heard a chuckle from behind. My eyes widened as I recalled that we were not alone. I needed to mind my tone and my words if I wanted to avoid conflict. Alex pinned Luc with his chilliest gaze, and the beta was soon saying in an apolo
Jade’s pov: That night, Alex made love to me like a man possessed, with an urgency that was unparalleled. And I met him passion for passion, thrust for thrust, and screamed his name when we finally hit our climax. As I laid, sated, next to the man I loved, I knew that even though our love ran strong, happiness might not be everlasting. “A penny for your thoughts, love?” He let out as he kept drawing lazy sensual patterns on my back, his arm draped over my waist possessively. “Do you think Jessica will cause problems for us?” I asked in a soft tone of voice. He nodded at once, “We should be prepared for the worst indeed.” “The worst being?” I asked while peering up into his deep green eyes. “Do you think this is the best pillow talk?” He chuckled. I couldn’t help but pout at the way he deflected. True, it wasn’t the best topic, but was I supposed to hold everything in? He seldom gave satisfactory answers, all because he wanted to protect me, and I wondered what he could be hidin
Alex’s pov: Camelia had agreed to help the pack, and had settled yesterday in a cabin near the lake. The fridge was full, and she would lack for nothing while she stayed at the pack. When I met her in the morning, after exchanging greetings, she said in passing, “I am not doing this for the pack, Xander.” Her words, which should have shaken me up a little, only brought a smile to my face. This was Camelia we were talking about. She used to be a dear friend, up till the moment she awakened her powers as a witch – which we hadn’t even known she possessed at the time. Indeed, upon losing her parents at the age of 2, she had been adopted by a human couple, and had lived as such till the age of 17 when she came into her powers. “Don’t be like that, Cami,” I told her with an easy smile, shaking my head gently in mild disapproval. The pack members wouldn’t like her words, and neither would Jade. A faint smile appeared on her face before she said softly, “I met your mate yesterday.” “
Jade’s pov:Meet me at the training grounds at 8 pm.I reread Eli’s text as I headed there. I didn’t bother telling Alex, or anyone for that matter, since I would still be on pack land technically… Even though they were rather adamant about their need to know everything about my whereabouts. But then again, Alex and the witch were busy trying to understand what happened exactly… And facing the woman wasn’t on my agenda if I were to be honest. I was far too jealous and far too reckless at times. I didn’t trust myself around her… She seemed to bring out the worst in me.I reached the training grounds at 7:55, and seeing no one around, I naturally began to train. Over half an hour passed, and still Eli was a no-show. I decided to text him at that, “Calling it a night. You should have told me you would be running late.”I was about ready to head back to the packhouse when a twig snapped from behind me, before everything came to a still.I knew at once that this couldn’t be Eli as he never
Alex’s pov: My mate was what would no doubt get me gray hairs. Indeed, my sweet, beloved luna seemingly went out of her way to get in trouble… or could it be that it was trouble which found her each time? She and Eli returned just as I was about to send Trevor and Luc after her, and go out to find her myself. But she didn’t return empty-handed. On the contrary, Eli was holding an unconscious Sasha like one would a sack of potatoes. I raised an eyebrow at the sight, my disbelief breaking through my poker face, even as Luc repressed a chuckle. I shot my beta a look and mind-linked him briefly, “Don’t encourage her.” “I would never,” he retorted but I could sense the sarcasm behind his words. “Did you get my voicemail, Alex?” Jade, the only one who basically called me Alex, let out in a sweetly triumphant tone of voice. “I didn’t check my phone,” I shook my head negatively. She sighed a little bit dramatically, and muttered something under her breath, “Not only are you too busy fo
Jade’s pov: Leave it to the damned witch to interrupt just as Alex and I were ready to reconcile. My wolf began to grow angsty, pacing in my head, making me itch for a fight – as if Sasha hadn’t been enough. Hell, I even had to bite on the inside of my cheek, so as to keep myself from growling in displeasure at the mere sight of her. Admittedly, her scent too wasn’t one I liked – and not just because I didn’t care for her. It was actually too rich in jasmine, and a little bit overwhelming if the shoe fit. Alex sat on his chair. And I, being too petty to go down without a fight, and way too stubborn to actually leave, sat on his lap. As to be expected, Alex didn’t object. On the contrary he trapped my waist between his arms, and I felt like I belonged there. For a split-second, the woman showed her true colors – through the narrowing of her eyes and the purse of her lips – but I blinked, and it was gone. I might be slightly obsessed when it came to my mate, but I wasn’t one to s
Alex’s pov:Ever since Jade’s father passed away, we had not been intimate… and no, I meant more than just sex. Even the usual morning kiss became a little bit of a chore to her, it would seem.I was trying to give her time and space, not knowing what went through that beautiful head of hers… And that might have been quite the mistake!Indeed, in hindsight, I realized that giving her space and time allowed doubt to fester. And trust was fundamental in any relationship.I was thinking of taking her on a date, seeing as it had been quite some time since our last one. I was about to start making arrangements, and even call her, when there was a knock on the door of my office.I straightened up, sensing Camelia, and wondered if today was the day she would bear good news for me.As per usual, before long, her overly potent perfume permeated the air, and I had the urge to open a window, but I didn’t, knowing that she had caught a cold.“Hello, Xander,” she greeted me softly, her eyes twinkli
Jade’s pov:Soon enough, a couple of weeks went by since my dad’s passing, and Trevor had become my shadow. I believed that Alex, being Alex, only trusted his third-in-command to protect me. Alex’s meetings with Camelia were starting to bother me if I were to be honest. Not only was the witch an attention seeker, but also a cunning woman. She was trying desperately to get as much time with Alex as she could… and while I could understand their need to talk strategy, in an attempt to find a solution to the manipulated rogues issue, did it really have to be on a one-to-one basis? My jealousy was definitely having a field day, and I wasn’t happy about it. I had gone to the training grounds to let off some steam, too irked by the situation to do anything else, moreso because I couldn’t object to it – I didn’t have it in me to be a diplomat after all. And now that I was back to the pack house, I was just about to enter Alex’s office, when Luc caught my attention, near the door. The man w
Jade’s pov:I could understand that my father’s funeral represented an occasion for our pack to know where some of the other packs stood. The beta of The Howling Wolf pack had already made their position quite clear, so I had no qualms sending him away… But that was not why I was preoccupied. I was troubled by the way mom had disappeared into a corner halfway through the funeral. I was anxious to know what Camelia’s endgame was. I was also worried about the future of the pack for many understandable reasons. And to further add to my list of worries, I didn’t know what the future had in store for me and Alex, and our baby.Through the next 3 days, Trevor remained with me whether Alex was beside me or not. And I found his loyalty absolutely endearing, though admittedly he might have been following orders.“Luna Jade,” Trevor began in a feeble tone of voice that was so unlike him, I feared his next words. “Your mother has collapsed and has been taken to the clinic.”I stilled, almost una
Jade’s pov:I was at the funeral, crying as to be expected… and even though I was supposed to be at ease among the pack, with people who loved me, I wasn’t.The same unusual smell from Alex’s office caught me unaware during the funeral, and I found myself trying to find the person whose very scent I had yet to memorize… and it turned out that it came from none other than Camelia. If there was one way to describe it, I would say there was some potent jasmin in the mix, though that wasn’t all there was to it.And though I tried to be reasonable and trust Alex, the fact remained that her perfume was too much for me at the moment, and it also grated on my nerves for some reason.Don't let this witch upset you, my wolf growled in my mind. We must think about our pup.Her reminder gave me back some of my lucidity. I had been planning to pounce on her, and strangle her till she admitted what she was here for, but my wolf's input brought me back to my senses. It was audacious of her to show u
Jade’s pov:I came to the feeling of a pleasurable butterfly caress on the back of my hand. It was kind of unusual, seeing as Alex usually caressed my back during my sleep, but I brushed it off.I came to, after the most terrible nightmare, and I realized I needed to make sure it wouldn't come to pass, ever.“What are you doing up, Alex? It's still early,” I grumbled sleepily, my voice hoarse as one who had slept a lot.“Jade,” mom’s voice reached me even as the hand covering mine tightened ever so slightly.“Mom?” I mumbled and then opened my eyes at long last.I found myself in a room so white it was grating on my nerves. I was in one of the clinic’s rooms, and yet I had no recollection of what might have brought me here. What was going on?“Mom?” I began tentatively, not quite sure how to formulate my thoughts.“Mrs Falls, please call for the nurse,” Alex, who was holding my hand tenderly, preciously, as if to never let go, let out in a weary tone.I looked into his vivid green eye
Alex’s pov: The way Jade stiffened in my lap for a moment, before she burst out in tears was worrying me. She appeared to be in shock – though it was understandable. “You don’t mean that, Luc. That can’t be. It has to be a mistake,” she was telling him frantically in between tears. She then shot out of my lap before I could hold her, and went to Luc, “This isn’t a good joke, Luc…” She shook him and he allowed her to do as she pleased. Her sorrow was almost suffocating me, and yet there was nothing I could do but simply be around for her – for as long as she would need me. “It’s not a joke, Jade,” he said in a hushed bleak tone of voice. “I am so sorry for your loss.” She was startled back and let his hand go as if the very small skin contact burnt her deeply. “But dad was such a strong warrior,” she objected. “How could it be? How did it happen?” “The patrollers were outnumbered, but had the attack covered efficiently for a moment. Then, one of the rogues went for Silas, and
Jade’s pov: There was nothing quite as disheartening as having an argument with one’s significant other. Though if I were to be honest, I wasn’t even sure how it escalated that quickly. The visiting alphas had left while I was on the training grounds, and for that I was glad… I felt like I could breathe more easily without being the main attraction. I could be myself around the pack, no matter if I trusted everyone or not. I knew that my dad was on patrol duty tonight but mom wasn’t. I mind-linked her at once, “Where are you, mom?” “Your father’s out on patrol duty but I am in our room,” she told me without delay, almost as if sensing my urgency. “I am coming,” I told her in a soft tone. The moment I caught sight of her, sitting on the bed, waiting for me, tears fell down my eyes. “Oh, Jade, sweetheart, what’s wrong?” She cooed as she rose to her feet, and hugged me at once. I shook my head negatively and merely nuzzled her, needing the comfort only she could give me. When I
Jade’s pov: The alphas and their convoy stayed for a couple of days, during which Alex barely had time to breathe. Naturally, Luc had a lot on his plate as well. And since Trevor wasn’t around, Eli and Tyler had been given the task to look after me. I truly felt like a precious doll made of the finest porcelain. And though I liked being cherished by Alex, I didn’t feel comfortable having so many people look after me… But it was what it was, especially considering I was a late bloomer – when it came to getting a wolf at least. “How stubborn can you be, J?” Eli clicked his tongue in disapproval as he caught sight of me in the training grounds, alone, when it was barely past sunset. Tyler’s comment was more understanding, “Even if you need time alone to think, you could have us around, not too far away?” “I didn’t want to trouble you,” I said on a sigh before hitting the dummy one last time. “Jade,” Eli began in earnest, and I looked in his direction at once, “I know that you might
Alex’s pov: It was close to 6 pm when Alpha Kade arrived. He came with his third-in-command and a couple of warriors. And he was the first one out of the two allies. Jade was slightly stiff, as she stood next to me, while we welcomed him onto our land. His hazel eyes weren’t guarded, as I would have expected them to be. On the contrary, he sported an easy smile and gave me a sideways hug. “Always been a hugger,” I let out teasingly. “It is good to see you, alpha Alexander,” he began in a nostalgic tone of voice, before focusing his gaze on my beautiful mate, “You must be his Luna.” “I am indeed,” she offered him a little bit of an awkward smile. “Welcome to the pack.” “Thank you,” he said, observing her for a moment longer than I appreciated, before telling me, “You’re in quite the situation, Xander.” “Let’s take this to my office,” I said at once with a small smile. His third-in-command followed us to the office whereas Jade, Eli and Tyler spoke to the warriors, who were han
