Thirty-Five

I woke up to the sound of loud bells piercing through the peaceful silence of the room. With a loud groan, I rubbed my eyes, shaking off the drowsy fog in my head and savoring the comforting feel of the soft bed beneath me.

As usual, my joy was short-lived. The bell pierced the silence, signaling the start of the pack run my mom had told me about the night before.

I collapsed on the bed, dreading the thought of facing the higher-ranked werewolves during the run. "Do I have to go? You know I hate running," I complained.

“It's compulsory, sweetie,” mom said. “You of all people should know that."

Omegas prepared for the run and I was surprised at the level of excitement that filled the air from the pounding of feet on the floor, slamming of doors, and voices and chatter that filled the house.
