Fated to my brother-in-law (Zina's book)
Everywhere I looked, there was a sea of black—black gowns, black veils, black suits, black fishnets, black whatever the hell anyone had on. We had gathered to lower my husband to his final resting place.
The husband of my youth had died while saving the Alpha, who doubled as my best friend. It felt unnatural and unfair to put Grey and death in one sentence.
How could someone so young, who'd been full of life, be reduced to such a pathetic state and placed in a coffin?
I couldn't understand it.
Mourners streamed into the tent where he was lying in state. I'd ban people from seeing him if it were up to me. They were all alive while he was not. And after today, most of them will move on.
"Grey didn't deserve to die,” a chubby woman with a grating voice trembled as she sobbed.
