Pretend

My door opened and I blinked twice before I realized not only had we already arrived, but I had been completely out of it. I stepped out of the car, taking the hand offered to me, and my gaze trailed up to soft brown eyes staring down at me. I swallowed when I found Levi in front of me instead of behind me, still seated. How had I missed him getting out of the car, walking all the way around, and opening my door? After what happened earlier and texting Andrius, my head was in the clouds. I cried out as I was lifted up off of the ground and into strong capable hands.

“Levi!” I scolded.

He only chuckled and continued walking towards the door. Even with the speed of a cheetah, Levi took his time as he held me in his arms. There was no rush, just calm contentedness as he walked. No matter how many times he did this, I doubt I’ll ever get used to it. I burrowed closer into his embrace and leaned my head against his chest. The place I was safest, the place I was happiest was in Levi’s arms.
