Chapter 1- Gold Digger
It was hard to believe what I was hearing. "Doctor, are you saying I'm five weeks pregnant?" I asked, my voice trembling with excitement and disbelief. The male doctor nodded, his eyes glinting with wolfish intensity. "Yes, Miss Edward. It says here in the test result. Congratulations." His polite smile transformed into a feral grin. My heart raced, thoughts turning to Derrick, my boss and fiancé. A powerful Alpha of the Night Pack, he would be overjoyed to learn that we would have a pup. Leaving the doctor's office, I was filled with an overwhelming sense of happiness and hope. His advice on ensuring a healthy pregnancy for my first trimester as a first-time mum was a welcome reminder that my dreams were finally coming true. As I walked down the busy hospital hallway, a broad smile lit up my face. Life had finally turned in my favor after years of hardship. I had been abandoned by my mother at the orphanage and shuffled from one foster home to another. But now, I was engaged to Derrick, a strong Alpha of the Night Pack, and we were having a pup. My life had been far from easy for the past twenty-five years. But then, I landed a job at the Night Pack Empire, a position that seemed like a gift from the heavens. As Derrick Ortega's assistant, I fell in love with my employer, and to my surprise, he reciprocated those feelings when he discovered we were fated mates. Our relationship blossomed, and I felt like the happiest personal assistant in the world. Being with Derrick, an Alpha of immense power and strength, was a dream come true. And now, we were starting a family together. When Derrick fell ill for the last four months and needed a kidney transplant, the decision to donate one of mine was an easy one. Love, pure and unwavering, fueled my desire to save the love of my life, and I readily underwent the procedure without hesitation. His parents promised me that I would be married to their son to save his life immediately after he recovered, but I would have donated my kidney regardless. I loved him beyond words, and nothing could have stopped me from offering him the gift of life, the chance to continue our journey together. Derrick had a crisis one month after the successful transplant and was readmitted. As I drew closer to Derrick's hospital room, my mind was racing with ideas on how to reveal the happy news. His discharge day coincided with our engagement announcement, and it seemed the stars aligned in our favor. "Should I make it a grand surprise after our engagement has been announced?" I whispered to myself, a mischievous grin playing on my lips. The thought of seeing his reaction, of watching the love of my life filled with joy and excitement, was too tempting to resist. A smile fluttered as I imagined the Ortega family's reaction to our news. "His parents will be ecstatic to become grandparents," I giggled softly. The timing couldn't have been more perfect. Derrick's discharge from the hospital, our engagement announcement, and now, the surprise news of our pregnancy. It was as if the universe had conspired to create this beautiful moment for us. I stepped into Derrick's room, filled with love and excitement, eager to share this moment with him. without a knock, my heart fluttering with anticipation. "Hey babe, are you ready to leave?" I asked my voice light and filled with excitement. My gaze drifted to the packed bags on the bed, but I couldn't ignore the presence of Derrick's parents, who were also in the room. Their eyes turned to me, curious and watchful. My eyes fell upon a striking figure in the room, a woman I didn't recognize. She was tall and curvy, her skin fair and radiant, exuding an alluring energy that any man would find irresistible. I felt a pang of unease in my chest, wondering why she was there. And oddly, the lady's presence didn't sit well with me, which made my smile slowly disappear. “And who is this?” The lady asked Nana Elizabeth, Derrick's mother, with disgust, lacing her tone and etching on her features. “Derrick's former personal assistant. The gold digger. Ignore her.” Nana Elizabeth replied, eyeing me with contempt. The sudden change in the atmosphere baffled me. Last night, when I was together with Derrick and his parents in this same room, they were so warm to me. It was the engagement announcement that was discussed until everyone left and had planned to meet up here in the morning for Derrick's discharge. So what changed? What had transpired overnight? “Gold digger? Former personal assistant? I'm sorry, Mrs Ortega, but I don't understand what you say about me. What's happening?” I asked, making sure my voice sounded firm instead of the nerve wreck I was on the inside. “What don't you understand, you this cheap slut?!” Nana Elizabeth yelled, making me slightly jump in my skin. I felt a mixture of confusion and anger course through me. "That's not true!" I insisted, my voice faltering slightly. "I'm not a gold digger. Derrick and I are getting married; that's what he wants. Why are you saying this now?" The silent, smoldering look in Derrick's eyes cut like a knife, and I knew he was seething with rage. But the direction of his anger was unclear. Was it aimed at me or his mother? Nana Elizabeth's harsh words fell like blows, each striking a cruel, icy chill into my heart. "I'd rather my son stay single forever than get married to a bitch like you!" she screamed, her wolf-like eyes blazing with fury. My confusion turned to outrage, my wolf stirring inside me as I prepared to defend myself against these baseless accusations. What has gone wrong? I was overly sure that I hadn't done anything to make me become a gold digger. I have always been content with what I had and have never asked Derrick for money. All I do is accept his generosity. "Derrick, please tell me you do not believe this; this must be some sort of prank," I stuttered, my voice cracking as I approached him. My heart was pounding, my emotions raw and exposed. I reached out to him, desperate to feel the warmth of his touch, the reassurance of his presence. “Derrick, please talk to me.” I reached where Derrick was sitting on the hospital bed and grabbed his hand. "Don't you fucking touch me!" he snarled, his voice dripping with venom as I stumbled back from the force of Derrick's push. Tears pricked my eyes, but I fought them back, not wanting to show weakness in front of Derrick or his mother. I couldn't understand how things had gone so wrong, why Derrick was treating me like this when just hours ago we had been so in love, so eager to share our future. That single action and that single phrase crushed me wholly. The dam in my eyes broke into tears, immediately streaming down my cheeks. I couldn't still understand why all of this was happening, especially on a day that was supposed to be one of the best days of my life. "Why?" I sobbed, my voice hitching as Nana Elizabeth yanked me toward her by my hair. The pain that exploded in my scalp was nothing compared to the betrayal I felt from Derrick's rejection and his mother's cruelty. "You're nothing but trash," she hissed, her breath hot and angry against my cheek. "I'm so glad we discovered your true identity before you could marry into our family." The words stung like salt on a wound, and I fought to stay upright, refusing to give her the satisfaction of seeing me crumble. “Why are you doing this to me? I– I did not do anything wr-wrong.” I stuttered, trying to free myself from Nana’s tight hold around my hair. But I ended up falling to the ground. “Here's what you fucking did wrong!” Derrick got up and shoved the iPad to my face. My vision swam with tears, but I could still make out the damning words on the computer screen. An email, supposedly sent from my address to Derrick's father, demanded ten million dollars in exchange for my kidney donation. A ransom note, a threat, a web of lies woven by some unknown hand to destroy the love that Derrick and I shared. "This isn't from me," I gasped, my voice thick with desperation. "I didn't send this. Someone must have hacked my account." My protests fell on deaf ears as Derrick chuckled darkly, his eyes filled with a loathing I never thought I'd see directed at me. "Oh, so this isn't your email address then?" he mocked, his tone laced with contempt. "You didn't send this to my father?" I shook my head vigorously, tears streaming down my face. "No, I didn't send that. Someone is trying to frame me," I pleaded, my voice breaking with desperation. But Derrick's gaze was like ice, brutal and unforgiving, refusing to see the truth. What happened to the man who loves me, dotes on me and promises never to leave me? "No, it wasn't me," I cried out, my voice hoarse with desperation as I clutched Derrick's legs, pleading for him to believe me. But the woman pulled me back to the floor, gripping my shirt like steel. "Let my man go, you bitch!" she spat, her eyes gleaming with hatred. "Don't you dare touch him again with your filthy hands.? She pulled me back and slapped me hard on the face. I struggled against her grip, desperation, and confusion clouding my mind. "Please, please believe me," I begged, my voice cracking. But the woman's grip only tightened, her nails digging into my skin. "You're nothing but a lying gold digger. You'll never have him," she sneered, her breath reeking of malice. I struggled to free myself, but she held me as she turned me to face her. Before I could recover from the hard impact on my face or say anything, the lady spoke in a more mocking tone that made my stomach recoil. " I think you need to know who you are up against, little bitch; I'm Katherine Rodriguez, the billionaire Alpha's only daughter and heiress," she announced, her voice dripping with smug superiority. "And I'm Derrick Ortega's chosen mate, his future wife. So you see, you never stood a chance."Chapter 2 -Disappear The words stung like a slap in the face, twisting my gut and squeezing the breath from my lungs."What do you mean?" I rasped, my voice hoarse with shock and disbelief."Katherine is right. She's my new fiancée," Derrick spat, his eyes blazing with contempt. "She's the woman I'm going to marry. Upright, not shady, and won't cheat on me or lie to my face."His words were like poison, burning my heart. They made me feel sad and scared and shredding the last remnants of hope I held onto.Tears spilled down my face as I struggled to find the words to express my pain."You can't do this, Derrick," I sobbed. "You can't just call off our engagement and then get engaged to another woman. Not after all we've been through together."I was heartbroken and confused. Why was it so easy for Derrick to turn his back on me? Why couldn't he trust me? Why didn't he give me a chance to explain? The questions burned in my mind like a flame, bringing me pain and doubt."I can do what
Chapter 3 - Triplet?"Disappear forever?" I mumbled, confusion and fear clouding my mind.Alpha Casper remained stoic, his expression unreadable as always. "Exactly what I said, Tina Edward," he answered, his voice as cold as ice. "Disappear. Leave this city, this country, this world if you have to. Never show your face around Derrick again."His words were like a death sentence, leaving me shaken to the core. "You want me to disappear?" I asked, desperation creeping into my voice. "But what about Derrick? Don't you want to help me get back with him? I thought you were on my side."Casper remained composed, his voice level and steady. "Trust me, Tina, I'm helping you by helping you disappear. If you really love yourself, you'll leave this city today without question. It's for your own good."His words were like a bucket of ice water, chilling me to the bone. It became clear that no one would believe me, no one would help me.This, however, angered Me. "How can you do this to me?" I
Chapter Four- where it all started.Five years later,"Mummy, Rick, and Ryan got it!" Rita shouted excitedly as she watched her brothers swim."That's wonderful," I said, getting a towel for Rick and Ryan to dry themselves.Rita looked at me and asked, "Mom, why don't you like swimming with us like Uncle Fred?"I paused momentarily, feeling nostalgia and pain wash over me. I remembered the events from five years ago that had changed my life forever. But before I could say anything, Fred stepped in, saving me from revisiting those horrible memories. "Hey babe, it's not that your mom doesn't like swimming; she just doesn't have the knack for it," he explained to Rita.Rita nodded, accepting his explanation, and I breathed a sigh of relief."That's okay; I'm bad at math too," Rita said, and we laughed.I leaned in and whispered to Fred, "Thank you."Fred had been a great friend and father figure these past five years after saving my life. "Mummy!" Rick and Ryan called out as they raced
TINA'S POV"Don't run too fast, this is a new country and I don't want to start looking for you," I shouted after my son. I was so exhausted from the flight and wanted nothing more but to just get home, take a deep bath and just relax.I turned to call out to the twins once more but I came face to face with someone I wasn't planning to see this instance until I had put my plans into action. It was no other person than Alpha Derick walking towards me, he must have recognized me immediately he set his eyes on me.I turned my gaze away from him, feigning ignorance of the man walking towards me in all his glory. He hasn't changed one bit, living a comfortable life must have served him well while he left me to suffer alone. The look on his face showed evident surprise, he never expected to see me again since I was proclaimed dead. He must have thought that I was dead but now I'm back and their clan will not know what hit them. They should be ready because I came very prepared.I quickly c

I thought Tina was dead but if she is still alive who did they bury. The body was kinda beyond recognition when the body was buried years back. But he knew deep down that Tina was not dead but he couldn't put his fingers on it.I was filled with so much guilt for how I treated Tina years back. It is one of the mistakes that I regret so much in my life but the work has already been done and I can't turn back the hands of time. But if given the opportunity by the moon goddess I will treat Tina with the best care that she truly deserves.I was so deep in thought, who was the man that claimed to be her husband. I thought she loved me but how come she has suddenly remarried."Don't you think that's selfish coming from you,"my wolf said with disgust at the trail of my thought."Well it's not like I don't want her to get married b
Tina's POVI felt a rush of relief as we pulled through the massive iron gate of the mansion. I can't wait to relax my head as I could feel my forehead burning from stress. The thirty minutes drive from the airport felt like forever especially after having an encounter with Alpha Derrick. A chuckle escaped my lips as we drove into the compound of our new home. I looked around the compound with amazement, Fred doesn't disappoints when it comes to choosing things for me, but this is way beyond my expectation. I have always known him to have a great taste.I admired the palm-lined entrance with beautiful flowers lined alongside, across the pathway. I watched as the beautiful ornamental trees standing at opposite sides of the compound swayed with breeze as we drove past them. A grand mansion standing firmly in the middle of the compound with staffs dressed in white and black aligned at the frontage. This is a perfect place for relaxation. I leaned back on the seat, closed my eyes and too
Derrick POV: Drifting Thoughts."Sorry, you said what?" I cleared my clogged throat and looked at my mother, who sat at the other end of the table."I said you should pass me the salt," she repeated, her brows quickly coming together as she fussed about the tastelessness of the food."Mother, you know it's wrong to eat uncooked salt. It's not good for your health," I said. "You don't expect me to eat this tasteless food. And where the hell is Thomas? Can't he hear the bell? What is he doing?" She asked as she furiously ring the table bell. "Honey" she turned to father, "we need to get another chef. I'm tired of eating bland foods."Father nodded in agreement. "I don't think the food is bad, it taste good to me. I think Thomas did a good job," I said quietly, as I use my fork to pick a pea. "Says someone who haven't touched his food!" Katherine said, her tone sharp, laced with sarcasm. I ignored her and continued, "Mother, seems your...""You think am being fussy here? Thomas hav
Elizabeth Ortega's POV:Derrick slammed his fist on the table, stood up, and was about to take his leave, his wolf eyes blaring red, giving a deep orange color under the blue-coloured light."Derrick come on, why are you angry? We didn't mean to make you angry. This is good news; it calls for celebration, like your father said." I grabbed his hand, and pulled him to myself. "Okay, we are sorry for making you angry. Come finish your meal.""I've lost my appetite!" He pulled his hand away. With a low, sharp voice he said, "Aren't we supposed to be discussing about more pressing matters?" He glanced at Hector and back at me. "We have alot at hand to discuss. I don't think there is a need for this celebration right now.""More pressing matters like what? What is more important than signing a deal with Lord Hawkins? You know how many times we have tried to get him to sign a contract with our firm and he showed no interest," Katherine snapped; she folded her arms across her chest. "You are
Tina's POV Highest Bider I knew Nana Elizabeth had a huge love for money and buying the most expensive jewelries in her shop would grant me all I seek. After carefully packaging the jewelries, she asked for me this of payment and I instantly handed her my card to swipe and I'm sure it changed something in her because she looking at it.It was a black card with silver inscription and it was definitely doing the bid I wanted it to, "Alright that will be all," I said immediately following the loud beep from the machine.Anna took the bag and was about to walk behind me when Franca said, "There's a very unique set that's incoming," she suddenly announced, her words filled with anticipation. My interest was piqued,I wonder why she was hesitant about it and it made me wonder if it was illegal, "oh really, I questioned my tone unwavering." "Yes and I'm very sure you would love it especially because they are made of both diamonds and rare stones." She explained."Well, you can let me know
Tina's POV Luxury I'm not sure you know me. I replied sharply, "Is that how you embarrass customers?" I was trying to make her confused and uncomfortable and it was working. She quickly adjusted, a look of apology flashing across her face, "Oh, I'm sorry," she said. "I didn't mean to offend you, what do you want from us?" She asked with a big smile on her face, but I wasn't moved, I knew she was just like her boss."I want some jewellery," I said curtly, trying my best not to get involved in any more small talk, she immediately beckoned for one of the staff to show me around the shop.I followed behind the employee, pretending to need guidance, but the truth was that I knew every part of the shop like the back of my hand.As I scanned the displays, I could feel Franca's eyes on me. I turned and our eyes met. She was still staring, her expression a mixture of fascination and caution, and I knew why.Even though I had tried to change my appearance, I was still Tina, the same Tina she
TINA'S POVFirst step I sat at my desk, deeply engrossed in the documents Anna had handed me a few hours ago. The words blurred together as my mind wandered, but I was determined to finish reviewing them. And suddenly I heard the door creak, "Boss, your lunch break is almost over, will you have your usual?" Anna asked, her voice cheerful and efficient, but at that moment I just wanted to finish the documents I was working on."Done!" I exclaimed excitedly as I lifted my eyes to look at Anna who was patiently waiting for my answer. "You said?""You didn't say anything about lunch," she said, her expression playful but orderly. "Oh about that, I haven't decided yet." I said. The truth is I had other things on my mind and food certainly wasn't one of them, "That reminds me, did you get the information on the shop I asked for?""Yes I did," Anna nodded her smile in place. "Oh that's good then, we'll just do that now." I announced and immediately explained that I should arrange my thing
Alpha Derricks POV She is back!"Who?" Lawrence asked immediately with a serious look on his face, but I immediately changed my words. "Oh, it's nothing serious," I replied with a fake smile, hoping he would let it go."Who's back?" He asked, ignoring what I had just said, "Nobody Lawrence, it was just a mistake, you can go now!" I claimed, trying to sound dismissive. But he wasn't buying it, he knew me too well and could tell when something was bothering me. "No Derrick, that didn't sound like a mistake," he said, his voice firm. "Were you referring to .....?"I cut him off, not wanting to reveal more than necessary, "I said it's nothing Lawrence, leave me alone." I pleaded. But Lawrence was insistent, "I don't think I can do that," he said, his expression unyielding. I'm your Beta and it's my duty to make sure you're OK, and you know I can tell when something's wrong with you.I sighed in frustration, "I'm fine Lawrence, it's nothing I promise". I replied but in typical Lawrence f
Alpha Derricks povOpportunity I sat at my desk, lost in thought, staring blankly at the papers in front of me. My mind was consumed with thoughts of Katherine and our last conversation.Suddenly I felt a presence in my office, but I didn't look up, "Katherine problems?" I heard the familiar voice and immediately looked up to see Lawrence sitting in front of my desk."Yes!" I nodded with a serious look on my face. Lawrence's eyes narrowed slightly, "I guess your meeting with Katherine didn't go well." He said in a neutral tone."Meeting?" I thought to myself, "It was more of an ambush." I leaned back in my chair, my fingers clenched together. "Yes," I said. "It seems you crossed paths on your way in?" "Yes, I did, and she looked so angry." He said worriedly. "And I really don't understand why she would be so angry about what I said to her." I added.Lawrence's eyes locked with mine, "What did you say to her?" He asked, his curiosity piqued. "Well, I told her to present her proposa
Katherine's POVSober upI stormed out of Derrick's office, the door slamming behind me. My anger and frustration boiling over, I took two steps away from the door before stopping and turning to glare at the closed door."Damn you, Derrick!" I muttered under my breath, the words barely audible. "Why do you have to be so angry, why can't you just listen to me and take my side without questioning everything?" I said, clenching my fist. I felt my anger simmering, threatening to erupt, I took a deep breath and tried to calm myself, but it was no use. I was sick and tired of being second choice to my husband, the man I love the most.I turned and walked down the hallway, my heels clicking on the floor, when suddenly my wolf Ava's voice echoed in my head, "Katherine, you need to calm down, you almost blew it." She said calmly."You know how delicate the planning was and you want to destroy it all because of some petty emotions." She reprimanded, but her words only made things worse.I spun
Alpha Derrick's POV: Confrontation. The door to my office flew open with a sharp bang, rattling the glass panel and startling me out of focus. Katherine stormed in, her eyes blazing red, her voice at the pitch as she slammed a folder on my desk so hard that some of the papers inside flew out. "What the fuck is this?!" . I picked up the folder, arranged the papers, and flipped through them; they were the documents of the deal I signed with Hemlock firm."I travelled to the United States to go seal a deal with a client, which you were aware of." Her voice cold, climbed a pitch higher, "And, now I am back, am hearing that my deal is no longer valid because a company proposed higher? What the hell! Are you out of your mind Derrick? You must be joking. What are you trying to do? Are you trying to make my effort a wasted one?" She slammed her fist on the table, her tone filled with pain and disgust.I met her glare, her eyes filled with rage, ignoring her drama. I leaned forward slightly,
Tina's POV: Unexpected Good news.Fred walked into the office with a broad smile across his face, holding his laptop in one hand and two plastic cups of coffee in the other."Guess what?" He blurted out, barely able to contain himself. "One minute," I tucked out my finger as I clicked on the send button. I removed my glasses, leaned back on my chair, and I looked at him; his energy filled the room."Seems you've got some good news," I said, raising up an eyebrow."The Silverbirds firm just sent an email accepting our partnership proposal, and they agreed in having a meeting with us!" He gave a wide grin."Yes!" I hit my fist in my palm. "Everything is going as planned. That is one step forward. When is the meeting being held?" My tone sharp in expectation."According to the email, we were asked to pick a date, and they will be here," Fred said, beaming with joy.Watching the joy on Fred's face melted my heart. No one celebrates my little wins like Fred does. He is my biggest fan, my
Alpha Derrick's POV: Secret Contract"Kids?" Lawrence blinked, his brows knitting together as he leaned against the brick wall by the garden, arms crossed, his sharp eyes fixed on me."Yes, there are two. A boy and a girl," I replied, leaning back into the fountain.Lawrence sighed deeply, his tensed shoulders dropped, and he ran his fingers through his hair, "Was she excited to see you? Was there some sort of connection or a bond?""Nah, immediately she saw me, I could see the blazing anger in her eyes; I tried to have a chat with her, but she didn't give me a listening ear." I shifted on the edge of the fountain, adjusting my posture. "Oh! Uhm, you know how things ended for both of you years back; maybe she hasn't forgiven you," Lawrence winced, scratching the back of his neck."It's all fine." I shrugged, stood up and walked towards the garden.Seeing Tina at the airport left me with mixed emotions; a part of me still wants her; her mesmerizing beauty captured my heart as I could
