KYLIAN'S POV

The moment I opened my eyes, I knew something was wrong.

Lorraine was gone.

I reached out for her warmth, but my hand landed on cold sheets. Her side of the bed was empty, and a sudden uneasy feeling pressed down on my chest.

“Lorraine?” I called softly, but the silence that greeted me was unsettling.

The house felt void, as if her absence drained it of its lifr. I dragged myself out of bed, my heart racing with unease.

“Lorraine?” I called again, louder this time, hoping she'd appear from around the corner, maybe with a laugh, teasing me for being paranoid. But my voice only echoed back to me.

I rushed through the rooms, my mind jumping to a dozen different possibilities.

Where could she have gone at this hour? I dialed her number as I searched every corner of the house. Each unanswered ring intensified the knot in my stomach. When she didn’t pick up, dread settled in my bones.
