LORRAINE'S POV

The ride home was silent. From the hospital, we took a taxi back home. The tension between us was so thick that you could cut it with a knife.

I glanced over at Kylian. His side profile was illuminated by the sunlight. He stared out the window, lost in thought. How could he have lost his memory? How did we end up here after everything that happened? My heart ached on my chest. It was all too much to take in. Everything was happening all at once and I couldn't process it all.

I still had feelings for him, feelings that I had buried deep inside for the sake of moving on, for the sake of myself and my boys. But now, with him here, those feelings were resurfacing. I wasn’t sure how to handle it.

The taxi pulled up to the house, and I paid the driver. As I stepped out, I felt a knot of anxiety tighten in my stomach. This was it. The moment I had been dreading and anticipating all at once. Kylian followed me inside.
