4 - Friday Night Out

Melody's POV

My phone rang Friday morning waking me up with a start, I grabbed it and almost yelled in it, “HELLO.”

Elaine giggled, “what the hell, where are you, it’s Friday morning and I usually get a breakfast date, and your food is getting cold?”

I groaned, as I looked around my now disgusting apartment, old pizza boxes, empty ice cream containers and Chinese food containers all over the coffee table and floor, I sighed heavily, “I’ll be there in 15, put my plate in the oven.”

I bolted from the couch and ran into the shower, not sparing a second look at the mess that I created within the last 3 nights.  I pulled on a summer dress and flats and ran out the door.  I walked into Elaine’s kitchen and smiled, “I’m here and starving,” I went to the stove and removed my plate.”  I took a piece of bacon and bit into it, “you know, I might be fired all because of your asshat Alpha and his humongous ego.”

Her brow lifted, “hmm, how so?”

I told her what happened, and she creased her brows at me, “so all the monitor’s went haywire and your being blamed, and Dr. Fabian said it’s because you embarrassed our Alpha?” she shook her head.

I nodded, “yea, I forgot that your kind are superhuman and can heal all by yourselves, so I guess me thinking that the monitors were actually working properly and showing all his vitals heading for the sky, I should have shrugged and walked out, but I did my job and hit the code button, stupid me.” 

I put my dirty dish in the sink, “not a big issue, I’m planning on going there after here and getting my stuff out of my locker, they can keep their job, I’ll find another, or maybe I’ll become a cruise line nurse, travel the world, see all I can see and bang all I want to bang!” I leaned against the counter, “We’re still going out tonight right, I mean tomorrow is the full moon, so I’ll be locked in my tiny apartment all alone, to stay away from the big bad wolves,” I chuckled.

She nodded, “yes, Steve and I are looking forward to it, were dropping munchkin off at Grandma’s and we’ll meet you there.”

I just stepped out of my Jeep when Elaine and Steve drove up, I walked over to where they parked and hugged her, “come on, he can watch our assess walk away from him.” 

Steve chuckled, “there’s only one ass I watch and yours happens to me next to it, don’t flatter yourself.” 

I cackled, “best answer for you to have, I don’t play nice, especially with her ass,” I swatted Elaine’s ass with my hand and Steve growled.”

Elaine cocked her brow to him, and he shook his head, “sorry lovebug, it’s just instinct.”

I stuck my finger down my throat making a gagging noise, “I can’t deal with this lovey shit all night, don’t kis…” and they kissed.  

I rolled my eyes and Elaine giggled as she wiped her lipstick off his lips, “Mel, you know what we are like, so just grin and bear it, you won’t be with us long anyway, you never are, you always find others to dance with and play your little flirty games with and even sometimes you disappear for an hour or so.” 

I laugh, “yea, well even lone wolves need loving sometimes.”

We walked inside and it was jammed packed, I yelled, “what’s going on, it’s like everyone in town is here and then some.”  I watched as they both looked around and then their eye’s widened, “is that, oh for goddess sake, it is.”

I grabbed her hand and turned her towards me, “who, who are you seeing?”

She shook her head, “looks like our Alpha is out and about tonight, his Beta, and sisters are all here, should be quite the night.”

My eyes went round, “oh shitballs, this Isn’t good Elaine, what if he remembers me.”

She smiled, looking me up and down, “the last time I seen you in your scrubs, you didn’t look anything like this, of course he is a wolf, so he may scent you as someone he’s run into but, I’m sure he wouldn’t think that nurse is the bombshell that stands here now, anyway he probably won’t even look in your direction, unless he wants a one and done.”

I chuckled, “you’re right, I certainly don’t look like a nurse in this outfit,” he’s the last person on earth that would ever get a one and done, not in this lifetime anyway. 

Steve sighed, “Guess, I’m going to the bar for drinks?”

We both nodded and I handed him money, “I’ll buy the first round, thanks Steve, we’ll try and find somewhere to sit.”

We walked a bit and there was no luck, one of my favorite songs began to play and I pulled Elaine out on the dance floor, “let’s dance.”  We were on the dance floor, which was body to body, and I looked around, “this place is too crowded, maybe we should find somewhere else to go, since your hierarchy has decided to be here, they seem to draw a huge crowd.”

She spun to respond, but her mouth opened and then closed quickly, her head bowed, and she spoke, “Alpha Dominick, it’s a pleasure.”

I turned slowly and my head tilted up and my body did that shiver as I looked at him, his face was hardened, in a permanent scowl, his eyes where pure black as if they had no soul, his jaw was tight and nostrils faring as he looked at me.  I felt a pang in my chest, I involuntarily took a step back and I hit Elaine’s front.  She cleared her throat and spoke, “Alpha Dominick this is…”

He cut her off, “Melody, the nurse from the Emergency Room,” his voice sounded familiar, but I couldn’t place it and he continued, “I have a few things I’d like to say to you and you might want to say something to me as well.”

My mind whirled with many witty comebacks, but I really didn’t want to spend next week in the hospital as a patient and miss the cruise, so I took a deep breath, “I have no idea what I could say to you that would make any difference in your life Mr. Dominick,” yea I’m not calling him Alpha, I’m not a werewolf and fuck him with respect, he literally got my ass fired.  I didn’t tell Elaine, but I was told this afternoon when I picked up my stuff from my locker.
