CHAPTER FOUR.

“You are just my sex toy!”

“I only need you when I want to fulfill my sexual desires.”

Those words cut deep in Tegan’s heart. Alpha Kai had said them like he was talking about the weather, but in fact, he was crushing every bit of her soul. He was destroying the little dignity she had left and grinding her self esteem to dust. She had never imagined the day would come when she’d have to share him with another woman.

For five years, it had been her and her alone. She was treated specially from the rest of the she-wolves in the pack. The thought of her sharing that privilege with another woman made her stomach churn.

She was angry. She wanted to meet the new girl. She needed to see her.

“Take me to her room!” She ordered the guard standing by the staircase. Without saying a word, he began leading the way to the bedroom Reign had been lodged in. Tegan fumed all the way there. She thought of the many things she could do to the girl once she saw her.

Kick her. Smack her. Pull her hair. Kill her.

Blood was boiling in her veins. Anger stirring in her heart. She was going to explode with rage anytime soon. They got to the door and she didn’t knock. She cracked the door handle and pushed the door open so hard, it hit the wall behind it, making a loud sound that made the occupants of the room jump in fright.

“Get out! Now!” She ordered the two servants who were assisting Reign in getting ready to meet the Alpha. The two girls scampered away from the bedroom, including the guard and Tegan slammed the door shut behind them. Reign was confused as to what was going on. She rose from the bed and gazed at the frantic looking girl standing before her.

“Do…I know you?” Asked Reign, looking lost. Tegan smirked and shook her head.

“But you are about to know.” She took two steps forward. The smirk had disappeared. The look on her face, the unguarded strain, the flinching terror, the sudden apprehension in her facial features gave Reign the understanding that the girl standing before her wasn’t a friend. She had come to cause trouble. She took in a sharp breath, her gaze not leaving Tegan’s face.

“I hear you are from the Diamond Stone Pack.” Tegan said and took a few steps closer to Reign. Soon, they were just a few inches away from each other. They could feel each others’ breaths. Reign was disgusted. She opened her mouth to answer the question, but a knot formed in her throat, blocking her vocal chord, so she simply nodded.

“What insolence.” A heavy smack followed that statement. It landed hard on Reign’s left cheek and the force of the smack made her head sway to the right and her neatly combed hair spread all over her face. She quickly raised her head and gave Tegan a horrified look. Tegan had her eyes wide open, as if daring her to fight back.

“What?” Tegan sneered. “Wanna fight back?” She was almost breathless. The anger in her heart was compressing her lungs and almost suffocating her. She needed to release some of that anger before it became the end of her and Reign was her punching bag to do so with. Before Reign could utter a word, another heavy smack landed on the same cheek. Her head did the same sideward movement and she quickly looked up.

Her hair was completely disheveled.

“Why do you keep hitting me?” She was burning with indignation. She wanted to fight back, but she didn’t because she didn’t want to cause trouble all the same. If that girl was hitting her, it meant she was someone who had a high rank in the pack. Probably the Alpha’s sister. Laying a finger on her would only put her in even greater trouble, so she held back and decided to act cool.

“Because you are a tramp! How dare you!”

“With all due respect …”

“Oh, shut up! You’ve already disrespected me by bringing your miserable self here.”

“I didn’t come here on my own accord. I was dragged here against my will.” Reign scolded, her eyes burning with rage and Tegan took a step back out of fear. “I have done absolutely nothing wrong to you. Why do you keep hitting me?” Her voice broke in a half. Tears glittering in her eyes. The least blink would get them streaming down her cheeks like a waterfall.

“Because you are a tramp! A hoe! A worthless piece of shit. You don't belong here!” Tegan fired angrily. She had gone purple in the face. Her chest was rising and falling as she took in short deep breaths. Reign was even more confused, but there was one thing she was sure about—she loathed Tegan. “Because of you, he had me insulted, belittled, discarded! Because of you, he threw five special years in the mud. Because of you, I mean nothing to him now.”

“I have no idea what you are talking about.” Reign simply said and took several steps behind, leaving ample space between them. “Maybe you’ve got the wrong girl here.”

“Don’t patronize me! I am not an imbecile. I know it’s you. Hermoine Reign Angelis.” Reign flinched upon hearing her full name. “You are the daughter of Alpha Zander Angelis and future Alpha of the Diamond Stone Pack. You and your entire family are murderers! You connived and had the Supreme Luna killed, that’s why you are here. That’s why he brought you here to become his sex slave.”

“That is not true.” Reign objected. Her feet unconsciously took her closer to Tegan who was no longer purple, but red with fury. “My father didn’t send soldiers to kill the Supreme Luna. It was a setup. We are innocent!” Reign’s voice warbled when she spoke. She was scared, but she couldn’t let that accusation stand without her trying to defend her family. Tegan’s face went from red to green faster than a set of traffic lights. Reign waited for her to smack her face again, but she didn’t. Instead, she chuckled and inched closer to her.

They were back to standing just a breath away from each other. Tegan leaned forward and brought her lips dangerously closer to Reign’s ear. Reign’s heart careened out of control. She cringed when she felt the skin of Tegan’s lips brush against her ear. Tegan was standing too close for her liking and she wanted to put a distance between them, but she figured the girl had something to whisper in her ear. She wanted to hear it even though she knew it could never be something not mean.

“Go ahead and defend yourself, let’s see if Alpha Kai believes you and stops himself from fucking the living hell out of you tonight. I can tell you are a virgin. He’ll rip you apart. You have no idea how big he is down there.”

Reign stood perfectly still. She felt like a bucket of ice cold water had been poured on her head. Every inch of her skin was taut with tension. Pressure built in her chest, pounding louder, faster, harder. She couldn’t breathe.

Tegan, who seemed satisfied with what she had just done, let out a wicked chuckle and cat-walked out of the bedroom with a triumphant smile on her face.

“Make her wear the scantiest of clothes.” She ordered the servants standing by the door who bowed to her command.

She was still disappointed about having to share Alpha Kai with Reign. However she knew there was nothing she could do to stop that from happening that’s why she swore to herself to make life unbearable for Reign in that castle.

Meanwhile in the bedroom, all the words Alpha Kai had said to Reign back then in the cell sprang to her mind and the last words he uttered before leaving, echoed in her mind.

“It starts tonight.”

She shuddered with fear. His wicked smirk flashed in her eyes. She looked around the spacious bedroom nervously. The two servants came rushing back into the room and rode on from where they had stopped. Her blood pressure rose with every minute that ticked by. She was agitated. She wished the ground would open up and swallow her so she wouldn’t live to experience the torture that awaited her that night because she could imagine the kind of monster Alpha Kai was in bed. Tegan’s words kept ringing in her mind as well.

When they were done, a mirror was brought to her in which she looked at herself. She couldn’t recognise the girl standing before her in the mirror. She was pale and had fear written in bold on her forehead. Her lips were twitching and her eyes were as shiny as glass. She was at the brink of breaking down.

“Alpha Kai likes it when his women come to him looking glammed up.” Whispered the servant girl on her left. Her words pricked Reign’s skin, leaving invisible bruises that stung with pain and disgust. Reign gave her a sharp glance and she smiled. “You must be terrified, but you don’t have to worry. Rumour has it that the Supreme Alpha treats his women well in bed. If you obey his commands, he will have no reason to treat you poorly and you will have the best night of your life. He will leave wanting more of him.”

Reign highly doubted her words. She was appalled by the fact that she was about to have sex with a man against her will. The man in question was her mate, but he detested her and she was starting to despise him too. She couldn’t even think of the possibility that she could enjoy even a single second of it, not to talk of wanting more.

“Have you been in his bed before?” She asked dryly. The girl shook her head.

“He has high taste.” Reign fought her urge to roll her eyes. “I will never be fit for him.”

“Enough chit-chat.” The other maid, who seemed to be older, ordered. “You sit here and wait. You will be summoned when the Alpha needs you.” The two servants charged towards the door and exited the bedroom before Reign could ask any other questions. She propped on the bed. Numbness took over her body. Her head was spinning like a rollercoaster. She held her face in her hands and took in sharp, shallow breaths. She was terrified and wished someone would come rescue her. She wanted to leave that castle. She wanted to go back home to her parents. She missed them and she knew they were worried sick about her, but couldn’t do anything because she was in the custody of the Supreme Alpha who thought they were responsible for the murder of his mother. She wondered what kind of punishment he had levied upon them. Everything seemed to be up side…

Knock knock knock.

Her thoughts became a mist of clouds that blurred her vision. The door creaked open and someone stood in the doorway. She snapped her head in the direction of the door, but she couldn’t make out who it was because all she could see was clouds.

“Follow me.” A gruff voice ordered. Reign knew she had to obey. She had to get on her feet and start walking, but she couldn’t. She was too scared to do so. She seemed to be frozen on her…

“I SAID FOLLOW ME!” The voice was no longer gruff. It roared, breaking the ice that kept her frozen on the bed. She sprang to her feet and her knees almost gave way for her to reach the floor. She staggered for a bit before gaining balance. The guard standing at the door grew impatient. He wanted to walk in and pull her out, but he couldn’t. That was his Alpha’s mate. His woman and unless he had a death wish, he had better not dared to touch what belonged to his Alpha King. Reign met him at the door and he led the way to the Alpha’s bedroom which was situated at the East wing of the chamber.

Reign followed lifelessly behind, her heart pounding in her chest. She was sure if she went very close to the guard, he would hear the sound of her heart beating. The guard soon came to a halt in front of a doubled wooden door which had polished brass handles. He turned to look at Reign who was standing at a safe distance away from him, head facing downwards and gaze glued to the floor.

“Knock on the door and wait for his invitation.” And with that he was gone, just like the servants had done a while ago. She felt like no one wanted to interact with her. Like she had some contagious diseases. She stopped staring at the floor and gazed around. She sighted the staircase at a distance. A dangerous thought crossed her mind.

'Run away.’

But she quickly shook it off. She knew Alpha Kai was not an idiot. The probability that there were several guards positioned at every corner of the castle was high. They would get a hold of her before she made it down to the last step and she knew once she gets caught trying to run away, the consequences will be apocalyptic. Her shoulders sagged in dismay. She turned to the door, took in a short breath and licked her lips. Her face etched with permanent horror.

“I can do this.” She drew in one last breath before knocking on the door. Alpha Kai responded almost immediately.

She was about to go in and face her worst nightmare.
