After Tyra and Cassandra had left, I noticed that Aláine seemed more relaxed than she had initially been and certainly a lot happier than when we met. The following morning I talked to Aláine about how she had felt when Cassandra disappeared and the loss she had felt because of it. I had never thought about what it would be like for families left behind when werewolves mated with humans.

After my brainstorming session last night, I resolved to talk to other members in my pack who had initially been human to see how they felt about it and whether they wanted to see their non-werewolf families again. Of course, I couldn't just change the rules because I was Alpha, as there was the safety of the whole pack to consider and getting the elders to agree. However, I was sure that if it was the will of the pack and could be done safely, and my father consented to change the royal decree, then the rules could be changed.
