Alpha Alexis's POV
“Sign the damn papers Agnes” he yelled slamming his fist angrily against the glass table and a crack formed on it almost immediately.
“No Aaron, why are you doing this to me? you can't leave now Alexis is just nine, we can fix this, please” my mom's eyes were teary and she held his hands desperately begging him to stay.
He pushed her aggressively and she fell hard on her butt, her head connecting against the walls, she winced in pain and slowly moved her hand from her head, letting out a soft groan before standing up shakily. It looks like looked like it took every ounce of strength in her for her to remain on her feet.
“What did I say?” He spat furiously. “You're gonna sign these damn papers, or else you 're gonna pay for it!”
Her hands shook violently as she reached for one of the envelopes and hastily scribbled down a couple of words, “I won't sign those”, she whispered.
<Unknown POVYou know what they said about weaknesses, everyone had one, even the strongest of men and all I had to do was search for it.His was not any different than other men's, though. Not really. At least from my point of view. He seemed just like every other guy who’d been in a chaotic mess.So with a little spell from my little sorceress, we found a way into his mind, toiling with his dreams and his head that felt just like any other man's. Except that it felt more like mine, if anything at all. The magic of my little enchantment would work wonders for me if I could only figure out how to use them properly...or if they even had such a thing as proper magic anymore.I wanted him to be distracted, so stuck in the past that when I took away his dearest little girlfriend - mate- wife, whatever complicated relationship she was to him - he wouldn't see
Alpha Daniel POVOur efforts were futile and soon everyone forgot and gave up on finding Aurora, not everyone but most people. We still couldn't find who was responsible for Adela’s death or why she was killed.I never stopped thinking about what happened to her after she died, I still didn't know what it was. I couldn't wrap my head around it but I concluded that whoever killed her did it on purpose. There was a possibility that Adela knew more than she should have, she knew what most people didn't, and her killer wanted to shut her, and what better way than to kill her?I still couldn't understand why her bag was packed though. Was she planning on running away? From what? from who? What did she know? What could be so important? Would she have told me if I got there on time? What could she possibly have known? Was she trying to protect so
Aurora’s POVThe drive to town was the perfect dosage of medicine I needed to make me forget about yesterday's terrible dinner and put me in a good mood for the rest of the year. I was exaggerating but it was nice not to feel sorry for myself, I was able to laugh and enjoy the ride.Crest town wasn't so large but it was busy, really busy which means lots of people. We parked the car near a cafe called Grillby’s so that the guard who had driven us and Alexus could pick up “something” . That was all they told me and I refused to press on, not like I even could, I didn't want to seem too nosy.I busied myself with A little girl with wild red curls who ran towards her screaming "Daddy, Daddy" in the most adorable way I had ever seen. When she ran straight up to her father to give him a huge hug he bent down slightly and lifted her off the ground. I looked away and kept my gaze fixed on a window, trying not to
Aurora’s POV It was the same dream all over again and it wouldn’t stop nor leave me alon. It was dark and I was in an unfamiliar place. I could hear the sound of water flowing somewhere nearby but I couldn't pinpoint where. It seemed very quiet and peaceful, unlike everywhere else. A slight chill brushed over my skin. I shivered, my body was stiff despite the warmth surrounding me. Something was calling for me and I followed it without question. My feet carried me across the grass, the water was still flowing nearby and my ears were alert to any sounds. As far as I could see there was nothing but trees. At least there was nothing threatening to attack me here, at least nothing that I could see. So what was this place? Was it safe? Maybe it was something bad, maybe I should turn around right now and walk away. “You've come” The voice sounded deep and gravelly, almost like a whisper. I flinched and instinctively took a step back. “Where am I?” “Where are you” The voice echoed thro
Aurora’s POVAnd just like Alexis had promised, the nightmare expert was brought in and she was different from all of my expectation. The Nightmare expert was a tall skinny looking woman who seemed old and young at the same time making it hard for me t know how old she truly wasHer face- the left side was covered in three medium size circles of tattos, and her eyes had the smokiest eyeshadow above them. She wore a floral chiffon kimono over a blue denim and white singlet. Her wild brown hair stood in all directions, her skin was as dark as her eyes and her hands and neck were adorned with weird-looking pieces of beads and she scared me.I've only ever seen those things in the movies. As soon as we sat down she took my ankle and looked closely at it.“It looks like you got into a fight with a tiger” she commented while examining my foot.I frowned. “Why would I fight a tiger?” it was Layla who forced those words out of my mouthShe shook her head sadly like she felt sorry for me and t
Aurora's POVAs the nightmare expert led me gently to the bed, stripping me halfway, I blushed feeling embarrassed. Then she applied whatever she had mixed in the wooden spoon, on my chest, arms, waist and legs. I tried not to look in disgust but I felt a slight burning sensation all around me and I closed my eyes for a second. When she was done I opened my eyes to see that I had completely covered my body in the strange brown mixture.I frowned.“What is this weird smelly thing?” Layla asked in disgust and for the first time in a while, I supported her too. She was right, what was this?“It will help” she assured as if she had just over heard my thoughts.“It better works” Layla still butted in.But I looked at her skeptically and she smiled kindly. How was that even possible? I thought she was mea
Alpha Alexis POVZee came out of Aurora’s room looking drained and exhausted. It seemed as if she had been in a fight, a terrible fight. Her ruffle bag hung around her neck firmly and she gave me a weak smile.“It is done” she announced and I let out a breath of relief I didn't know I was holding. Then she tugged at my hand and moved me down the hallway, looking around like she wanted to be sure nobody was close enough to hear what she was about to say to me.“Alexis, it was nothing like any other case I have dealt with, this is different. I don't know how to explain it” her strange black eyes were piercing mine.“What do you mean by it’s different?” what could possibly be different from every other case.“You don't get it Alexis” her voice was firm causing my gaze that wa
Aurora’s POVIt was a deep slumber indeed, it felt so good and believing. Yawning and stretching on my bed, I placed my legs roughly on the floor. Then I froze, expecting the sharp pain of the sprained ankle to engulf me but it did not. I stared down at my leg in horror and surprise, slowly pushing myself up.My ankle was completely healed and completely whole! I ran my hand over my knee, my fingers grazing the faint traces of scar tissue that had once marked the place. So much happened in such a short time that I barely had time to process most of it. It must have been hours since Zee made me fall asleep, whatever she had applied to my body seemed to work. I didn't fall asleep to any nightmare in the woods, and now my leg was completely healed.I went over to the kitchen and to meet Evelyn we sat talking. It was only when she looked at the kitchen door that she froze. And I followed her gaze, standing at th
