“I'm quite curious about your face, I have to be honest.”

“It's good to be curious; however, I do not expose my identity to people that easily.”

“Is there a reason for that?” I dared to ask.

“Yes, there is. Seeing my face means death. And all those who had seen my face ended up dying. This was how I've been able to live these centuries without being caught.” My heart skipped when she said centuries. Was this done sort of a joke or something?

“Uhm, excuse me, did you just say, centuries?”

“Yes, I've been alive for a century now. What? You don't believe me?”

I shook my head confused. I don't even know what to think or what to say.

“Diane, it is too early to start getting confused. You have a long way ahead of you. No matter how curious you are, there are some things that will remain a mystery to you. However, I will tell you the basic things you need to know about me because we'll be working together from now on.”
