I was pissed.

In fact, pissed was an understatement. I was so annoyed and angry. I could feel my Merida inside me. She was so hurt at the sight in front of us. The girl with the red hair was kissing our mate, right in front of us. It all reminded me of the scene back at my pack. When Beta Devin marked the Queen bee of my pack directly in front of me.

In total disbelief, one of my legs retreated back. That made Alpha Killian look at my direction that instant. The female who had kissed him spared me a glance. I could read the expressions on their faces. They were both surprised I was actually there which was insane. My other leg followed the other, taking a step back, with a hand on my chest.

Turning around, I ran through the door I had come in from. Perhaps, my expectations were too high. I shouldn’t have foresaw having a mate. Perhaps, I wasn’t just bound to have a mate. I shouldn’t be engrossed in the whole mating thing. These were my thoughts as I ran through the corridors. As the breeze oozed through my ears, I could hear Alpha Killian yelling my name. He was after me but I didn’t even stop for a second.

I wanted to go to anywhere but here. I didn’t belong here. I didn’t belong anywhere. I wanted to leave this world. Or if possible, go somewhere far. Where no one would treat me so poorly—like the Omega I was. Even if it wasn’t well-deserved. My father was a warrior. Warriors are the most recognized people in my pack. People respected them because of the sacrifice they made for the pack. His blood ran in my veins; thus, he had a high authorial status. But, ever since the incidence of his death, I was denounced to an Omega. This was the reason behind the lack of respect of my pack for me.

Just when I was about to shift, something hard suddenly appeared in front of me. This obstructed the possible ways I could shift, making my jaw connect with the floor, as I fell. Groaning in so much pain, I hissed loudly at the effect. Gingerly, I stood up looking ahead at what was in front of me. I knew I was such a coward. I shouldn’t have run but instead faced it. It was just that my self-worth had been snatched after my first rejection back at my pack.

Alpha Killian.

He was the one I had bumped into. I gasped at how he was able to meet up with me. Until I remembered he was an Alpha. Alphas were ten times faster than a normal wolf. Speed wise too. Dumb, Celeste. You just had to think, you know. Alpha Killian had a grumpy look on his features. This made him look more feral and untamed. I wondered what he wanted to say to me. Was he one of those cruel Alphas that locked their mates up even when they were at fault?

“Why did you run, Celeste?” With a slight grin carved up his features, he asked me. That put me in confusion as I wriggled my brows, wondering what his game was. Didn’t he have shame? After what he had just done to me, his mate? Maybe all Alphas were like this… Betas were even worse from my experience.

“I didn’t want to disturb you and your girlfriend, Alpha.” I said the last part in a mocking tone, feeling hurt inside. I hoped I didn’t break from all the hurt I kept in me one day. These days, it was all getting too hard to bear and keep inside. This was why I preferred death, a once and forever pain. I would also meet my mum and dad who I know would treat me right, wherever they might be.

He suddenly chuckled at me.

Feeling insecure, I looked around me to check what he was laughing at. My hands reached for my cloth with the power puff girl animation on it. Maybe that was what he was laughing at. I couldn’t be so sure though.

“You actually thought Kate was my girlfriend? That’s funny!” he uttered, even laughing more. I just stared at him and when it became too much to bear, I frowned at the way he took so lightly of it. Folding my arms, I stared at him annoyingly. My wolf had begun to calm down from his words. “If she’s not your girlfriend, then who is she to you, Alpha?” Snorting a bit, I asked. The breeze was starting to settle. It wasn’t as harsh as before.

“A jealous and possessive Luna, I like that Celeste.” With a mischievous smirk, he said. His woodsy and candy like scent was starting to occupy my nose. I liked the way he smelled. It was so heaven like. Inhaling it even more, I looked the other direction so he won’t suspect.

Why did I like the way my name rolled off his tongue?

C-e-l-e-s-t-e.

“That was not the answer to my question. I will very much appreciate it if you answer my question,” I said.

From where he stood, he came inches closer. My brows arched at his movements, wondering what he was up too again. This man was full of surprises and it made me feel insecure. So much insecure. I could get used to this till eternity, you know.

“Kate is my sister.” He spelled out. I almost choked at what he said. She was his sister? Then why was she kissing him with that look on her face?

“Ok, Celeste. You very much know it was a peck on the cheek. She wasn’t actually kissing him so stop exaggerating.” Said my wolf, Merida. There was a truth in what she said. You couldn’t blame me? I was used to so much insincere and nasty people back at my pack so what was I supposed to believe? Put yourself in my shoes.

“S-Sister?” I muttered out. I couldn’t believe that.

“Yeah, Celeste. I certainly won’t keep a girlfriend when I have a mate. It doesn’t work like that,” he said. Judging from the expression on his face, his words were sincere. I felt like an asshole for reacting the way I just did now.

“I…I’m sorry. I didn’t know she was your sister. Oh, I’m such a fool!” Groaning and face palming myself, I told him. His large palms suddenly wrapped against mine. He held them like they were something he really treasured. It had been long since anyone held me like that. He made me think I was special…

“Don’t blame yourself, Celeste. You need to get something right. I want this mating thing to work between us. I want you to feel what it’s like to be loved, to be cherished. And, I won’t do anything that would cause damage, well said?” he stated, also asking me. His brown eyes were staring at mine with a serious expression inside.

“Ok.” I answered him with a really nervous and tight smile. He gave my hands one more rub before speaking.

“Then let’s go back to the pack house.” Alpha Killian said. I nodded at him as we headed back in.

“Stay here, Celeste. I have something important to do.” Alpha Killian said. My hands reluctantly moved without permission to take a hold of his. But it was too late. He had already gone.Knowing that, I growled alone to the comfort of the room. It felt cold and annoying. There was this sudden need in me. A need to be with Alpha Killian. My body also seemed to be forgetting Beta Devin’s rejection. Even though I could still feel him mating with his girlfriend, it was no longer as painful as before. This definitely had something to do with the fact that I had accepted his rejection.Standing up, I walked to the mirror I noticed in the room. My hands raised the cloth I was wearing which revealed my stomach. I had never got the chance to examine my belly but I was beyond startled by what I saw. There were purple like traces on it which were a little red on my pale and white skin. I couldn’t believe that there was this amount of damaged wounds on my body. Thou

An overwhelming expression was written all over her face.“You seemed lost in thought. I was asking what flavor you wanted.” She breathed out. Trying to focus, I opened my mouth to answer her.“Oh, sorry about that. Chocolate I guess.” I replied her. I watched as it was scooped into the cone shaped cup. Believe me, I didn’t even realize when I had fallen asleep in Alpha Killian’s hands. I hadn’t even known when he dropped me on the bed. Something I had never felt before. In a way, it all consumed me; like a dangerous fire.Alpha Killian was right beside me. His face held a scowl even though he was asleep. He appeared innocent with that look. I watched him sleep, taking note of the way his black hair kissed the bridge of his nose. Every time he breathed, that hair dangerously moved delicately, making me wonder how he could radiate so much power even though he was asleep. This fire would be my undoing.A little part of my heart thudded in harmony when I remembered how this Alpha defended me yesterday in front of my pack members. There was something about the way he stared at me presently. His gaze was ferocious, so were his features. But when his eyes directed to my neck, I noticed they held hunger. I heard about Alphas having a strong need to mark their mates. Could this be what was happening right now? These were my thoughts as Alpha Killian stared at me with intricate desire.I stared at him in so much confusion as his hands reached to my neck, holding it intimately. He trailed his hands around them, sniffling me so intensely. My eyes shut without my consent, with my head tilted back while I enjoyed the sensation that coursed through me.“Definitely in cloud nine!” Merida excitedly admitted. She didn’t get a reaction from me because I was too engrossed in the sensations I was feeling. With a firm hand around my waist, Killian tightened his grip them, pulling me close to his body. That only made the feelings I sensed worse. My body was starting to snap out of control and I could fee

I immediately pretended to scratch the back of my neck. When I saw him still watching me with passion, I knew I had another thing coming.“I will not repeat myself again, Celeste. Shift!” It was then I noticed. He was in his wolf form and somehow, he was still talking to me. How was that possible? Weren’t mates able to mind link once the bond was settled and finalized? Then how was this—My breath hitched the minute his wolf took an angry step towards me. I grunted out at how insensitive he could actually be. “Avert your gaze,” I seethed, wondering how he didn’t have the gentlemanly instincts to do the same thing I had done.“What did you say?” he asked in my head.“I said avert your gaze if you want me to shift, Mr. Alpha,” I breathed out. I woke up to the total emptiness of the bed. I sat up, rubbing my eyes softly and trying to recall the previous day’s events. Killian was nowhere to be found. Even though Merida was protesting a lot, it was a good thing he wasn’t here. I didn’t detest him, no. It was just that I couldn’t actually bear to see him after how Merida licked his wolf, Claw yesterday.“This is all because of you, missy.” I seethed, wondering why wolves could be so intent on being horny, reluctant and stubborn. “How’s any of this my fault? I just did what you didn’t have the audacity to do.” she snickered back at me. “Besides, we have a right to him. He’s our mate,” she finalized, before scoffing. I inhaled, fed up. This made my mind lurk to various possibilities. I didn’t yelp this time. Either way, I wasn’t as calm as she was. I had always wondered why I didn’t look like dad. Seemed like I took more of her.“Yes, dear. Most men and women were retiring to bed. I noticed a strange thing though. The children weren’t afraid in anyway. Something that could be likened to the same set of emotions, I had felt when dad was murdered in a cold blood. My hands reached for my ear, covering it from the numerous sounds I was presently hearing. My heart began to make erratic thuds from the memory lane I was taken back to. It was like something you dreaded, happening all over again. There was a creepy sensation lurking in my lower belly.“Dad…” My lips shakily let out. I didn’t even know when my mouth made out that word.“I didn’t mean to leave you, dad…” I added again.
