Raven’s Pov
Raven’s Pov “Don’t go”. I ignored my older brother and moved to our small dresser, and began spraying a black hair dye over the part of my hair that was filled with specks of white hair, concealing the hues. “Dorian, that bastard wouldn’t hesitate to kill you if he finds you in his packhouse…”.He never addresses Alpha Dorian by his title, but that was less of my concern at the moment. We need money Alpha Dorian was celebrating the birth of his pup. It’s a good opportunity. “I will be fine, you worry too much”. Sometimes I wish he wasn’t older than me, so I could have the upper hand in my life decisions. “I hate all of this, I hate the fact that we are hybrids. I wish I wasn’t stuck here like this, I just… I fucking hate everything”. He rattled out in frustration, as he gestured towards his injured left leg that was rotting away due to lack of proper treatment. I couldn’t help It as I moved to where he laid on the bed, he always acted tough, but not today, because I saw right through his mask. “I also hate this, more than anything, but it would kill me if you don’t get to walk again. Just this once, we need the money”. I whispered, the my last words.“ “But it’s still early”. He muttered tiredly and I knew he had agreed even though he didn’t say it. “I need to go now, unless the patrol officers will notice me, when it begins to get brighter. I will be back before you know it”. The promise was for myself rather than for him. We were each other’s backbone. I left our isolated home, which was in the middle of the woods, outside DarkValley. I made my way through the path that led to the unknown border line of the pack. Ever since Riev was shot, I frequently visited the pack to look for work, or we would die of starvation. I made it to the packhouse. It took me a while, before a maid was nice enough to show me the way to the kitchen area. The cooking was already in full swing, young girls like me, scurrying from one place to another doing their designated work. “Hey! What are you doing here?”. A middle aged woman screamed at me. Deep frown settled on her face as she glared at me. “I’m…I’m here to work”. I stuttered, my eyes moved to the floor avoiding her eyes. “Work?”. I nodded my head in response. “I don't need anyone else, leave at once“. She said, and began to walk away. “Please…give me any job…anything will do, I will work. Please”. I ran up to her, and fell at her feet immediately. She became quiet for a few seconds, before she ordered I follow her. I was to carry the bags of flour needed for the cooking from the storehouse to the kitchen. Just as I dropped the heavy bag of flour I carried into the kitchen, I first saw some of the girls in the kitchen , giving me a scornful look, then I felt a gaze behind me. I turned around and my eyes landed on the kitchen head, her expression more fiery than a beast. “You wench!”. She bellowed at me, and I instinctively flinched backwards. She sauntered towards me, her eyes were filled with rage. Her left hand shot forward abruptly, startling me and before I could understand what she wanted to do, she backhanded me across my cheeks. I held my tingly cheeks, my vision blurry, as I gazed up at her face. I saw two girls moved to my sides immediately and grabbed my arms. “I tried to help you, but you dared to steal!”. She continued, her eyes blazing with fury. Steal?. I saw the opened bag of flour, which I had brought in, but it wasn’t flour that was in it. It looked like…it was sand!. “That’s…that’s not true…I didn't steal…”. I stammered, shaking my head vigorously. She was definitely mistaken, I’ve gone to bed on an empty stomach countless times, but the thought of stealing had never for once sprung up in my mind. She slapped me hard again, as if aggravated by my words, and I could taste the blood in my mouth. “You have the guts to lie to my face, when the truth is glaring!”. She spat to my face, and slapped me once again, the hit more rougher than the previous ones. Tears sprang instantly from my eyes, my head was reeling from the slaps. “I should have known better than to allow filth work here!”. “Why would I steal when I’m here to work?, please believe…”. Then it happened in a blink, my entire body was covered in sand. “Yeah, I would believe you If this sand turns into flour”. I coughed voraciously, and I even found it more difficult to breathe. It felt like I was being suffocated. “You will surely pay for…”. “What is going on here?!”. I heard another voice as the whiff of the person’s perfume hit my congested nose, through my disoriented state.Raven’s POV “She stole flour”. Someone said For some reason my eyesight made it to the person. Della? I avoided her gaze. How could I even evade her in her own home? She was the only sister of Alpha Dorian, and the one who had rejected Riev in the past. I felt her eyes lingered on me for a while. I hate that she was happy. Riev had to bear with the emotional pain of her rejection. “A thief? Who dares to steal on such a joyous occasion?”. “I’m not a thief…I’m just here to work, my brother is injured and needs treatment”. I explained immediately, turning towards her direction, seeking her understanding, but I doubt it would make any difference. “Today is a special occasion, so I won’t kill anyone today. Guards! Hold her down”. I was roughly seized up by two men on each side, their grip rougher than the girls. “I’m innocent…please let me explain”. Then I saw the kitchen head move backwards as another set of girls came forward, and pulled my gown upwards almost to my hips. But wh
Vaughan’s Pov My eyes took in the crowded hall, where Dorian’s party took place. I hate everything about the damn party, but it was a sacrifice I had to make for being here. Dorian was a dimwit to believe I was here for his darn celebration, when I had important things to attend to. As I scanned the huge hall feeling anxious all of a sudden, I felt a pair of eyes on me. It was Dorian’s mate. I wondered why she gawked at me so shamelessly, when her mate was right close to her. “There are so many boring females here”. Hank, my Omega whispered beside me, disrupting my thoughts. His eyes peered around for anyone that caught his interest. “For once keep your blazing dick to yourself”. I muttered, as I watched the dancers perform on the stage. A sweet scent hit my nostrils. It was so faint for me not to even have perceived it. I turned around instantly, searching through the crowd in the hall, as I tried to discern where the scent came from. “At last! Someone to make up for this shi
Vaughan‘She is mine!’. I could already feel the tips of my sharp claws digging into my palms. All logical thoughts evade me, until something nicked my mind. I halted my steps instantly. I tried everything within me not to go after them. ‘No, we won’t do anything’. I said calmly after the few longest seconds I had ever experienced. It seems he had forgotten about our rule. I wouldn’t fight over her. That would be my last fight, if I ever did.‘I don’t give a fuck about our damn rules! I want her! She is mine’. I could feel his jealousy, and I wouldn’t deny it, I felt the same.I had rejected two mates in the past, on my own terms, and it would be the same with hers, but wouldn’t be necessary with her. ‘Let me out! I must get out!’. I resisted against Zane. Just as I was about to turn around, I saw the men after her earlier had already surrounded them. Four against two, they had no chance against them. I turned around ready to leave, but heard a gut wrenching scream. I turned aroun
Raven Shooting pains woke me up. Every movement I made caused me great discomfort. The brightness of the room made me close my eyes almost immediately. I was able to move my hands, but it hurts like hell. I tried to sit up from the bed, then realized I was cladless as the blanket exposed my bare upper body. I quickly pulled it up. Where are my clothes?. I held my head with one hand, as one leg made it to the floor. “Good to see you awake”. I heard a gruff voice. I shifted my gaze to the door. A pair of dark golden eyes pierced into mine. Had he been here all along?. My eyes widened immediately, as I realized he had seen me half naked. I felt my cheeks flushed slightly. What is wrong with me?. His muscular shoulders rested on the wall close to the door, as he continued scrutinizing me like a hawk. I felt like a small prey under his gaze. He left the wall, and began to saunter towards me, I held the blanket around me a little tighter. It took everything within me not to cower b
VaughanShit shit shit. ‘How could you mark her?!’. I screamed at Zane. As I cradled her limp frame in my arms. I was quick to hold her before she hit the rocky ground. Her neck where I had marked her was bleeding profusely. I eased out of my shirt and used it to keep pressure on the wound. Fear crept slowly into my heart. It was different from the one I had, when I saw her at the edge of the cliff.‘I did it for us! She could have jumped off the cliff, if I hadn’t done something!’. Zane clarified. I kept quiet. He was right, she could have jumped off the cliff, if I hadn't intervened at the right time. I mind linked Jade, the pack doctor, as I hurried through the mountains back to the packhouse. My eyes were locked on her chest to ensure she was still breathing. Her warm body was getting colder and paler with every passing minute. Marking her was the last thing I wanted, but Zane just had to complicate everything. I should have known I would lose my control over him not when it c
“That is not possible”. I muttered, shaking my head. I had seen her wolf before. In fact no one could ever forget that sight in their lifetime. “That’s just my speculation, because I can’t feel her wolf”. My gaze went to my mate’s face and moved back to hers. I held her gaze, and said with certainty.“She has her wolf, she shifted right in front of my eyes”. Excluding the part about the rare color of her wolf. “Are you sure?”. She asked doubts visible in her eyes. “Of course, I saw it very clearly”. She heaved a heavy sigh, as her left hand made its way to her wounded neck. Her bleeding seemed to have stopped. That was a good sign.“This is strange…her body is…is clearly rejecting your bond, and her body is very weak”. She whispered her last sentence as she stood upright, her expression suddenly grave.“What is it?”. I didn’t beat around the corners. I understood the look in her eyes, she was hiding something from me. “She is really a fierce one, only on rare occasions do people s
RavenShuffle sounds made me cognizant of my own existence. I moved my stiff arms then my fingers touched my neck. My eyes widened in terror, as I vividly recalled what had happened to me. He marked me! Why would he mark me?! Surely I wasn’t his…“I’m sorry for…for disturbing you”. A scared voice interrupted my line of thoughts. It was a young girl, with an apron tied around her waist. She was obviously cleaning the room, before I woke up. Her head was bent downwards, as she avoided my eyes. “It’s…it’s okay”. I mumbled, discovering she was tense, because of my presence. She scurried out of the room, not sparing me a glance. My eyes scanned the room, and I realized I was in another room. It was bigger, and more luxurious than the previous one they had placed me in.Immediately I knew whose room I was in. Tears of frustration instantly filled my eyes. Why can’t he just let me be?! I quickly dashed my tears away, and sat up gently, wincing at the pain all over my body. Killing myself
I didn’t utter a word as we stared at each other, eyes locked on one another . My eyes peered towards the door, hoping Jade would come in anytime soon to save me from him. I know I was cold to her, but I would prefer her company to him.“She won’t come here”. He said, as if reading my mind. He stood and began to walk slowly to where I stood rooted to the floor. “I…need some clothes”. I stammered, moving backwards to evade his closeness. “You can wear mine, at least you have worn one before”. He gestured towards the huge wardrobe that was opposite the bathroom. He had his hair packed above his nape, and it made him look more like a bad Alpha that he is. I knew his hair would be softer than how it looked. Was that the natural color? “Hmmm?”. I was jolted from my thoughts. What is wrong with me?! He raised his eyebrows at me, still expecting a response from me, but I kept my mouth closed. His eyes lingered on my neck for a few seconds, and I noticed an emotion crossed his eyes for a s
Raven povI turned around, picking up a weird smell, but I didn’t see anyone in sight. Just as I was about to pull off my clothes, I heard a small thud behind me. My eyes came in contact with an old looking woman. I knew who it was. No one could get into here easily, except Daphne.“Hello Raven”. She leered, her jagged teeth visible in a crooked smile. “Fancy meeting you here”. She said, and I felt all the anger that had been buried deep within me, resurfaced in seconds, clouding my mind.“You are here”. It wasn’t what I wanted to say to her, but it just came out that way, I had to say something. “Why are you here? To cause more problems which you didn’t finish in the past?”. I knew she had known beforehand that we would be here.“Oh come on, I have better things to do than stalk you”. She snorted, her long nails tip touching the curtains. I keep my heart at rest. I didn't want Alpha Vaughan to know of her presence just yet. I had a big score to settle with her. “Then why are you he
Raven PovA week later…“I thought you are always preoccupied and don't have time to spare with me”. Alpha Vaughan said, as I hugged him. “Let go of me, I have a lot to do today”. He held my arms trying to unclasp my grip on him, but I held on tightly.“You accuse me of being preoccupied, but you are always holed up in your office”. I said, pouting my lips. I knew why he had said I was preoccupied. “That’s because you spend your precious time with the children, more than you do with me”. He muttered, but grabbed my hand and placed a swift peck on my palm. “I know, but we barely have time to ourselves”. He would leave before I would even wake up, and during the day I spent it with his mother, who Jade and I were helping with her health. When he was back I would be asleep, it had been our routine, for a few days now.Ever since our disagreement about his mother this past week, he hadn’t brought up the issue again, but I knew he did it for my sake, and I also refrained from bringing u
Vaughan povDella’s sudden appearance in my pack was another nut to crack, amidst all other issues at hand. Of all places she had to show up injured and battered, was RedMoon whom she had a bad history with. Was this a set up by Dorian? Or was it for another means of something?Remembering Riev’s reaction, when Raven had saved her, I wondered if her appearance here was triggered by Riev. Ever since he came back from the place he had rescued Madison, I could detect a calm demeanor, which he never exudes. Raven had hinted on that a few days back, but I waved it off as just another overthinking of hers, but seeing her here uninvited not that she had ever showed up invited in the past, but it screamed more than what Riev was letting me on.She had obviously been attacked according to what Hank had told me, I was supposed to dig more on what she was up to, but I knew Riev would cover up that for sure. I felt he was the best option for that since he was in a kind of way entangled with her
Riev PovAlmost at the door Jade came out with a frantic expression on her face, as she stared at me, then at Raven who moved forward to the door. “She can hardly breathe! She might…”. She couldn’t complete her sentence when Raven interrupted her.“I will help”. Jade nodded, as a relief look came up to her face. Then she disappeared back into the room. “You don’t have to do this if you don’t want to, you are not in any way obligated to her”. Vaughan said to her, as she hesitated at the door for a moment. “I want to do this”. She said and peered at me, her expression unreadable, before she finally entered the room.Few minutes later she came out, and Vaughan went up to her, holding her hands in his, and kissed it. “You did a good job”. He said to her, and pressed his lips to her temple. I moved closer to her, knowing for a fact that I would be the last person she wanted to see at the moment, but I did regardless. “Thank you”. I muttered, but she didn’t say a word as she evaded my
Riev Pov He stopped at the border of the pack, and I had a second thought if it was really an issue related to me. I saw some groups of wolves scouting around the border, while some were inside the other territory. Only rouges invaded a pack through the border. I scanned the vicinity, and noticed Vaughan wasn’t in sight and also with his Beta, which meant it wasn’t a serious situation. The Omega pushed some wolves aside as he tried to know what the problem was. “What is all the fuss?”. I asked a guard who was standing by.“A wolf, beaten up pretty badly, she isn't a member of the pack, which makes it a bit complicated”. He explained, and I heaved a deep sigh. It was just a random scenario, which happened all the time. “Is she still alive?”. I asked curiously. I wondered how she was able to make it here all on her own except she was brought in by someone else. “Don’t know for sure”. He shrugged his shoulders, as he walked away. I stood aside, bemoaning why I hastily rushed here w
Riev povI stared into space, my mind preoccupied with so many thoughts all at once. My revenge on Dorian would soon be accomplished, and I would move on with the next part of my life. I knew it would be hard trying to live a normal life without Raven by my side. My life purpose had always revolved around her, everything I did had always been for her, but now she has Vaughan by her side, which I knew was the best gift the moon goddess had ever blessed her with. He might still be the selfish Alpha, whom I had always heard of for years, but he loved her, and that was all that matters the most to me. The only thing which seemed to be the problem in her life at the moment was the male witch. Searching for the missing part of the locket was like an impossible task. After dealing with the male witch, my days in RedMoon would be numbered.“Going through a life crisis?”. Jade’s voice pulled me out of my thoughts. She threw her weightlifting gloves at my feet, and plopped down on the bench
Raven Pov “How are you feeling?”. Jade asked Alpha Vaughan’s mother, as she checked her body temperature. Her complexion was brighter, unlike the day she had woken up after the accident. She had been so weak, and disoriented, but she had improved a lot these past days, with Jade’s help.“Better”. Her voice was still hoarse, above a whisper. She was stable and could talk properly, but with time she would be back to self. My energy had been helpful in making her regain her mental health. “You healed well, but If you feel any discomfort tell me”. Jade said.“I will, thank you”. She muttered, staring at me. ‘Thank you’ has been a repetitive phrase ever since she started conversing well with us. “Are you sure I can stay here? I’m more than okay now, I don’t want to…”. “We are all glad that you are here”. I squeezed her hand. I wondered how she had lived these past years. I knew she was feeling guilty for being here, after she witnessed me and Alpha Vaughan’s argument. Everyday I spe
Vaughan pov“Why is he here?”. Gale asked as soon I entered the office. We arrived almost an hour back, but I had been busy settling them in the house Gale and I had arranged for them. “Where are you from?”. He asked Mason, when I didn’t say a word. Mason sat on one of the empty chairs in the office, staring at Gale as if he was some kind of pest disturbing him. “I asked a question”. He flicked his fingers in his direction. Mason glanced at me, and I realized he was seeking my approval, before answering him. “I’m Mason”. He muttered softly.“I didn’t ask for your name, where are…?”“Stop it Gale, you will only make him more uncomfortable”. I stared at Mason, he had barely said anything to anyone ever since Riev handed him over to me. Although he refused to stay back at the house with the rest of the children. I knew it was because Riev had promised to bring back his sister that was why he stuck with me. “The witch…I mean the wolf, she had been in an awful mood for some days now”.
Riev pov“He is with me. The gardener”. She quickly intervened, and he immediately began walking away, after her explanation. It was a clear contrast of the difference between our two worlds.I walked beside her, without uttering a single word of what had almost happened till I left the packhouse. It was becoming harder doing this hide and seek with her. She deserved better or maybe I was the one that needed to give up on the illusion, that I could be with her in the end. I walked through the thick woods that led to the house. It was far into the woods, and wasn’t easily visible. It belonged to our grandmother who passed away years back. Almost at our house I sensed something fishy. I knew Raven’s scent, but I perceived another wolf’s scent. I stopped on my tracks, knowing someone had discovered our house, and was closeby. We never had visitors, and never invited anyone. No one could be trusted in RedMoon. As I got closer I realized the smell came within the house. Raven was inside,
