I was mistaken. I should have known better. Life was normal for a full week before the first call came in. From what I could gather in the car on the way, nobody knew who crossed which border first, but one of the pack members had found himself a prisoner of the wolves who didn’t like me much. We didn’t have much time since they had the right to kill him in their territory.

“I thought we had peace! Why did he have to go there?!” It was frustrating!

“We won’t know that until we get there. Your new friend asked for you. He wants you to force this young man to tell the truth.” Hunter looked amused and I rolled my eyes. It was upsetting! Not amusing! The peace I thought we brokered was delicate and one wrong move, like the one we were heading to now, could completely unravel all of it.

We pulled up outside the pack house and I took it all in. A lot has changed since the last time I was here. The last time there were dead bodies everywhere and this time there was life. Families were
