Kairo
I sighed. Today is not my day. I moved to my walk-in closet and could still smell the strong scent of strawberries and cream. I admit that the smell comforted me, but this matter isn’t just about me. It’s about the entire well-being of the pack.
I picked out the clothes that I would be wearing to the coronation as I pondered upon the events that happened yesterday. Some details were still hazy, but I remembered my wolf taking over my consciousness. That was a rare occurrence. I usually never lose my focus. Fuck, is this what having a mate feels like?
I shook off my thoughts as I remembered my promise to Amelia. We have been together since the last Annual Alpha Olympiads. I was training when I saw a girl annihilating these goons with her knife skills. More than the person, I fell in love with the skills and felt a sense of security whenever she was around. She’s strong. I could feel it. And she’ll be a great leader of the pack.
Moreover, theEmeryThe coronation was over, and the after-party was in full blast. I made sure to hide away from the crowd. I was not ready to face Caitlyn and… Kairo. I leaned on the railings of the balcony and looked at the stars. However, the serenity of the night was disturbed by the growling of my stomach. I just remembered that I hadn’t eaten anything since yesterday. I sighed; I really wanted something to eat.I decided to satiate my hunger and let go of all my fears. There are many people here. They wouldn’t possibly hurt me in front of hundreds of people. I went over to the feast table and peered over the abundant array of food.I took a plate from the table and started delicately placing fruits on it. I carefully placed down the serving spoons back to their corresponding plates. I didn’t want to ruin the beautiful arrangements. I hummed quietly and happily as I plopped a strawberry in my mouth. I was happily ea
Emery I removed my hands away from my face and stammered as I saw Caitlyn standing on the balcony door with her arms crossed. “Mates with Alpha Kairo, huh?” She circled around me, and all I could do was look at her with horror. I’m screwed. “Were you planning on never telling us? The sweet dear family that has given you shelter ever since your whore of a mother died?” I snapped. This day has far been worse than what I was expecting. I couldn’t control the words that came out of my mouth anymore. “Your sweet dear family? More like an atrocious and power-hungry family! Do you think that I don’t know all of your secrets? How you had a miscarriage last year because you were busy whoring around? About how your dad sleeps around and pervs on young girls? How your mother spends nearly half of your monthly salary because she has an alcohol addiction? Do you think that I’ve been silent because I don’t know anything about your so-c
**trigger warning: sexual coercion Emery The conversation took a serious turn, and we were now looking at each other with conviction. She placed her hands in mine and said, “You can trust me like your own mother.” I sighed. This is going to be a long conversation. She listened attentively while I shared with her the details of my mother’s death. I also told her where I had been residing for the past few years and all of the vicious things that the Beta family has done to me. She gave out a couple of violent reactions, but I continued on with the story. “And that’s it… Maybe that’s why you haven’t found me for these last few years. It’s like the Beta family has taken me off the radar. I wasn’t allowed to go to school nor the park. I wasn’t even able to explore their garden during my free time. They locked me up in their house to tend to their needs.” She had a scowl on her face as she u
EmeryI heard the metal door slam open and felt a warm hand touching my cheek.“Are you okay, sweetie? I’m here now. I didn’t forget about my promise.” My vision was occupied with dark spots as my eyes threatened to close. “Stay with me now, Emery. We’re going to the packhouse, your new home.”I am still shaking and traumatized by the events that I didn’t even notice that someone else was there, plummeting Beta Armad down on the ground. I heard his pained groans and smiled in relief, knowing that I was safe now.I looked up to Liliana and weakly said, “Thank you.” I smiled at her fondly until my vision finally drifted to black.***I gasped. I opened my eyes and looked at the unfamiliar surroundings that I was in. I also felt that the world was moving—I was in a car. I sat up in defense but relaxed when I saw Luna Liliana in front of me
Emery Two days have passed, and my life here has been great—better than the one I had in the Williams family by a hundredfold. There’s really not much that I do. I just watch TV in my room, do my own chores, walk in the garden, and talk with Liliana. I will be lying, however, if I say that I’m entirely happy in this house. I smell Kairo’s scent everywhere, but he’s nowhere to be seen. He’s so near yet so far. It was a new morning, so I went down to the kitchen and whipped myself up some pancakes. I made a couple of extra pieces and covered them, just in case the pack children would want to have something sweet in the morning. I placed a sticky note on the lid that read, “pancakes” then left the kitchen to eat mine. I was happy to see that I was the only one in the dining room. I still wasn’t used to the people here in the pack. The peaceful atmosphere was destroyed when a group of rowdy teenagers my age entered the dining room in a
Amelia This week has been off. Ever since the party ended, Kairo has not been paying attention to me that much. He’s a cold person, to begin with, but he always made sure that he had time to spare to spend with me. Even then, he would fast-track meetings just so he could hold me while watching a movie. Now, he can’t even hold me as I sleep! Every day, I feel like I’m losing the position that I’ve worked hard to acquire. Is it because we aren’t mates? I sighed and walked down the living room when I heard Kairo’s reprimanding voice. I got curious about the scene, so I listened in on their conversation. “Didn’t you hear my warning during the Williams’ trial?” He asked the group of friends that I was acquaintances with. “I told you that I take these circumstances very seriously. As your Alpha, I want what is best for the pack, and this is not the kind of behavior that is optimum for our growth and development. You got that?”
Emery I followed Kairo, not even sparing a glance at Amelia. This incident just proves her disdain for me. I even gave her the benefit of the doubt at the party, but I guess those were her true colors. I thought that she was reasonably mean to me because I took her dress, but this has blown way out of proportion. I wanted to thank Kairo once again for defending me, but his strides were too long that I couldn't keep up. I’m sure that he could hear my footsteps, but it’s as if he doesn’t care. “Kairo, wait,” I called out, but he still ignored me. I called out his name once again, louder this time, “Kai.” He paused for a while but sped up his strides. Our gap was getting bigger and bigger, but I still followed him through and through. However, once he had entered the training center, I couldn’t follow him anymore. I respect his workspace, and I don’t want to disturb the other wolves in their training. I sighed and t
Emery I went back to my room to prepare for Kairo and I’s trip. Was this a date? I thought to myself. I felt giddy and excited that I was finally having some alone time with my mate. I went to my closet and tried to find the most decent clothes that I had. I only ever have plain t-shirts and jeans but hidden in the very back of my closet were my mom’s clothes. I only wore them during special occasions, but I feel like this event is special enough for me to wear them. I hauled the box out of the closet then started delicately digging for something casual but presentable in the box. I smiled as I saw a simple sky blue dress at the bottom of the box. It was made from a light material, and it went up down to my knees. I grabbed it out of the box and placed it in front of my body in the mirror. The material was so flowy and light that I was afraid of tearing it in half. I handled it delicately and placed it on my bed as I went to shower.&
Third Person’s POV On a warm evening in April, the Ford family members are all gathered at one table. Emery prepared their favorite foods, and it seemed like things were going well. They looked like a perfect family, and they are! However, Emery and Laura started talking hushedly and giggling as the dessert was served. Kairo leaned closer to her lovely ladies in an attempt to hear their conversation. Laura turned to her swiftly and scooted closer to her mom. “What are you doing, dad? Can’t you see that mom and I are talking?” Kairo pouted and bitterly ate his black forest cake. “You’ve changed. You used to tell everything to daddy. But I guess you’re too cool for that now.” Laura is now in middle school, and Kairo has been feeling melancholic these past few days. He feels like time is moving too fast, and his once cute children can now live without depending on him. Laura sighed and pushed her seat back in its original placement. “I always tel
Dalton“You signed me up for what?” I asked incredulously as I looked at my group of friends. They were all looking at me with wide eyes, and I couldn’t help but sigh out.Emery fiddled with her fingers and avoided my gaze. “We kind of signed you up for a speed dating event.”I threw my head back and pinched the bridge of my nose. “Out of all things that you could have signed me up for, you signed me up for speed dating? You could have signed me up for a hotdog-eating event, horseback racing, corn tending, you could have even signed me up for a Japanese karaoke reality show, and I wouldn’t hesitate to agree. But this! This is too much!” I said and shook my head.Karina went over to me and shook my shoulders. “Oh, come on, Dalton! All of the events that you’ve suggested are even weirder than the speed dating event! We saw the ad on a very reliable site, so you don’t have to worry about its l
DevynThe birds chirped as I removed the sheets from my body. I wrapped my arms around myself when I felt a soft breeze brush against my bare skin. I let out a deep breath as I felt the bright and vibrant sun lightly hitting my closed eyelids.Wait… Sunlight? Why am I feeling sunlight?I always wake up before sunlight.I jolted up from my bed and checked the time on my phone.8:00 AMWhat the fuck! Why the hell didn’t my alarm go off? I looked at my set of alarms and saw that they were all turned off. I slammed my phone down on the bed and screamed the name of the one and only culprit.“Arlo! You motherfucker!” I screamed while making my way downstairs to find that bastard. He was sitting on the dining table, leisurely sipping his coffee.“Oh! You’re awake. Good morning, brother. Great day, isn’t it?”I walked closer to him and slammed my fist down the table. The mug
ArloI looked at myself in the mirror and could not help but whistle in satisfaction. Staring back at me is the most handsome and charming man that I’ve ever seen. Of course, that man is me. The music in the background only amplified my beauty, and I couldn’t help but look at myself in wonder. However, my self-loving session ended when someone turned off the music. I turned around to scold the culprit and saw my mom.“Mom! What are you doing in my room? Privacy, please!” I said exasperatedly. She gave me a tired look and went beside me. “Arlo, please. I love you very much, and you’re a very handsome boy. But you’re turning borderline narcissistic. You’ve been hanging out too long with your uncle Dalton. I need to speak to your father about this.”I gestured towards my new shoes and complained. “But Uncle Dalton’s a cool guy, mom! He just bought me some new shoes for my first day of s
Third Person’s POVEmery stood anxiously by the door while Kairo bounced in excitement. It has been a while since they’ve gone out on a date, and today, they finally got the chance to do that. Kairo went all out and booked an expensive hotel just outside the city for Emery and him.“Are we really leaving our kids to him?” Emery asked.“Hey! What’s wrong with me?” Dalton asked, distastefulness heard in his voice. “Just look at the kids! They’re so behaved now that I’m here.”After Dalton said that statement, Laura pushed off the contents of the living room table while Arlo chased Devyn with a worm. It seems like the house became more chaotic with Dalton just being there.Emery looked at him incredulously. “Are you serious?” She turned back to Kairo and held onto his shoulders. “Let’s have our date some other time, okay? Maybe when the kids get older.”
KairoToday, Emery is taking Arlo and Devyn to their monthly haircut, so I had to stay at home to take care of baby Laura all by myself. Laura is now three years old, and she’s the most energetic that she’s ever been. She wasn’t awake yet at the moment, so I had some time to breathe for myself.Emery had just finished arranging the boys’ bags when I went behind her to give her a back hug.She chuckled and turned around. She brought her arms around my neck and gave me a peck on my pouty lips. “What are you acting like a big baby for?” She asked softly.“You’re leaving me alone,” I whined.Emery chuckled. “I’m only going to take the boys for their haircut. It’s only going to take two hours at most. Besides, this is going to be a great opportunity for you to exercise your fatherhood. You haven’t even tried being alone with Laura now that she’s a toddler.”
Third Person’s POV Time flew by pretty quickly, and baby Laura is now a year old. Being an exceptional baby, she quickly developed the skills of a toddler, even as an infant. At a year old, she can already walk and write basic letters. She can even hum a tune! However, what is strange among all of these, is that she hasn’t uttered her first words yet. There were plenty of times when it felt like she was finally going to say her first words, but she sure does know how to play push-and-pull. Since everybody’s anticipating her first words, they’ve placed bets among themselves on what her first words are going to be. The group of friends was sitting on the floor in the living room. Along with them were Arlo, Devyn, and the grandparents. Crassus slammed his foot down the floor and intimidatingly looked at all of them. “I’m telling you right now. Laura’s first words will be ‘mama.’ It will always be ‘mama.’ Every other child that I’ve known
Third Person’s POVEmery is currently nine months pregnant, and everyone inside the house has been walking on eggshells. Her belly has protruded so much that she couldn’t even see her feet, and the gang feels like she’s ready to give birth at any time. All throughout the week, there have been many false alarms, and I guess this day was no exception.Karina and Emery were sunbathing near the pool while gossiping about the new human settlers just near the borders.“Did you see the way those girls looked at our mates? I couldn’t believe that they have the audacity to take their numbers when we were literally next to them!” Karina rambled.“Right? And can’t that blondie even see my baby bump? Like hello? You’re hitting on a baby daddy?” Emery rambled with her.“Ugh, it’s so hard being a woman. Imagine! We’re the ones having our periods every month, we’re the ones who&rs
Third Person’s POVThe group of friends was currently sitting down on their living room couch, huddled over Kairo’s laptop. It was pretty late at night, so the kids had all gone to sleep. They were currently watching gender reveal parties on a video platform.Different kinds of snacks were laid down on the table, and only the sound of the videos, along with their munching, could be heard in the room. They were on their fifth video now, but each member’s reaction was still lukewarm. Tired from all the mediocre gender reveal parties, Dalton roughly shut down the laptop and stood up.“I’m sick and tired of these videos. They’re too boring! It’s not enough for the unborn child of the strongest Alpha in the world and a Lycan. We need to go beyond all of these! We need to invite every pack that we can and show the world just how precious your future child is. Who’s with me?” He exclaimed with exaggerated motions.
